  15. Hi bob http://www.brianjonesmodels.co.uk/ He did a battery conversion of the gauge 1 class 66 with sound and on board battery pack .If you had a chat with him he could probably supply you with the whole lot batt pack speed control receiver etc. I always fit his mac 5 to any battery driven locos I've built or own phil
  16. The layout consists of 3 boards 2x scenic and 1 traverser 12 feet in total . Wired for DCC , but all points are manually operated by push rods from front or back of the layout The various Buildings are Bachmann scene craft .Some cut down to fit the location .We only use the lighting on the layout when operating and don't enhance it with spots. The layout can be used as a fuelling point and traverser at 7 feet or its total length of 12 feet . It has been to Leigh show in its 7ft guise ,and Southport show early this year when it was voted best in show by the public. Its due to appear at stoke this week end . phil
  17. Live steam is often more powerful than electric pick up .The locos tend to be heavier . But your track cleaning will increase because live steam leaves oily deposits on the track when running. I tend to build my garden railways flat and pile wagons on to get my steam engines to perform .Any locos that are electric pick up are converted to battery ,and fitted with radio control .That saves cleaning the track . I started out in g scale but tired of track cleaning etc and went for 16mm live steam but using g scale 45mm track . Phil
  18. great pics there Mathew The last time I went there the steam crane was in a lot of rusting bits awaiting refurbishment and rebuilding . Been meaning to go back but never found the time. I used to live in Burton so it was a 20 min. drive . phil
