I'm lucky then my kettle operative loves it ,from mixing the concrete to humping the bricks, blocks etc. Or running a coal fired engine .She sometimes assists in operating layouts at shows. img017 by phil, on Flickr -

Hiya bob miserable here too, I don't envy the work you are planning to halt the subsidence . Got quite a bit of work to do myself, but not in this weather. phil -
Hi Bob Looking forward to give it a run .I might line it out and name it ,just not made my mind up yet. I like the roundhouse fowler, which is a tender version of this . phil

you could have run a steamer if you had used a mixed gas butane /propane mix 70%/30% .I tend to run this gas from sept - may then summer months butane. The only loco I run the mix gas all year round is the darj Garrett phil -

Get him to do radiators and the little detail bits as a favour .You would be amazed at what could be produced and the quality .and its cheaper than castings .A mini lathe also helps for the odd bearing or radiator cap too phil -

You surprised me bob ,I just presumed with the metal work on the steam locos that the diesel was metal too . Is it all plastic? or have you added any metal bits? You could have done a blow by blow construction thread , great model phil -
Still a 50mile round trip for me, but Tims always helpful and he will test it before you buy never quibbles about a return either phil

Hi mike what happens if you get a derailment in the trough? It doesn't look easily accessible ? And whom is the mug sorry volunteer that will clean the rails in the trough? Phil
-
Hi mike I found that track plans need to be fluid in the building stage. I had to alter mine more than once before I finished ,and even now looking at adding another siding for storage purposes .phil

You could rebuild your FA unit into something else? I use this but not cement . This tends to over here encourage moss growth ,which interferes with the running of the locos and stock . Pleased that Irma passed you by . Its sad that lives are lost and people have to rebuild from scratch after the storms have passed, because they have lost everything Phil -

I was working in Horsham in 1987 living in a touring caravan on a caravan site when that storm hit .lucky to have survived to be honest .some caravans were blown to pieces ,whole stands of trees were blown down .And all we could do was sit it out till it blew over. The damage it did was unbelievable. phil -
I would offer to take you but I have a full car ,But if anything changes I will let you know phil
-
Mike are you going to build in a Roundy- Roundy format or looking at the sketch an end to end only? Phil
