    I'd be asking the photographer as they might've been local at the time. Trying to positively identify a concrete covered plate wagon, even in 1982, might've been a challenge. 42 years on.... Personally I'd be slapping together models of the appropriate wagons and challenge anyone to prove that the numbers are incorrect.

    Annoyingly if you look at the Traction article text, where it starts to be greyed out, the train formation is described. The last visible words are "a former wooden bodied pipe"

    Zooming into that picture I'd go for BR brake Toad BR pipe / SR sleeper / SOV / some sort of 5 plank wagon on a 12' chassis Plate x 2 BR brake Have some WR resignalling stuff somewhere. I'll dig it out.

    Not quite zero, according to the RPS data, which shows the mainline buffer stops at Kings Cross being at 0-02 Platforms 1 to 8 0-03 Platform 0 I don't suppose many people would worry about the slightly shorter journey to / from the Cross.

    Railway Performance Society mileage data from 2010 shows the zero post at 188m 07ch and the junction sign at 188m 12ch. If it helps the overbridge is at 188m 10ch.

    For some reason my Central Trains dummy 153 blew its chip (lovely burnt smell when the roof was removed etc). I have isolated the pickup system so it can still be run but of course the lights no longer work. I looked at the DCC Supplies website but they only list replacement chips for the 156. Has anyone else had the same problem and if so how did you resolve it please?

    The trees in the background look very similar to those in this picture https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Birmingham_RC%26W_Co_Type_2_D5344_(8395114697).jpg which is stated to be at Inverness in August 1968. D5344 was an IS engine at the time.

    I would like to re-bogie two coaches but cannot use Farish bogies coded 379-442 as they're only good for coaches with close coupling mechanisms. I've looked through the usual websites but the older Commonwealth bogies are not available as spares. If anyone has a couple of spare pairs of NEM fitted Commonwealths please get in touch.

    Looking through my performance logs the fastest speed I recorded on a load 5 eastbound non-stopper was 94mph at Red Post Junction (1 mile 25 chains west of Andover). For the record it was a diverted Weymouth to Waterloo service in 1988. The estimated train weight excluding the loco was 205 tons. Would like to see the Steam Days article.

    I didn't know that Status Quo were now running the country 😲 Oh well apart from Not being able to sing in tune and Unable to play any musical instrument Count me in 😉 Whether that's in the army or a member of Quo I'll leave it for others to decide.
