  1. Is there any chance of doing the BBC Box, NKYU 8210506, as a fully finished example? Yes I know there was only one but it was quite unique. If I start to finish mine off perhaps that'll be the encouragement you need?
  2. There's chatter on the N Gauge Forum about axle pin points that were filed flat during production as well as back to backs being too wide. Here's a link and scroll down for text and pictures https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=46538.60 Never thought I'd hear about a problem like this on a Revolution product.
  3. Alternatively turn every car into the microwave equivalent of a Faraday cage. Oh no better not coz a good number will then have to stop every 30 seconds in order to get out of their vehicle to see if someone's replied to their latest social media post.
  4. I recommend this book Rail freight since 1968 Wagonload by Paul Shannon Well worth the cash, as are the other 3 in the same series.
  5. How about Angerstein Wharf Hayle Wharf Queenborough Pier Marchwood
  6. I posed this question on another forum back in 2015 and got these replies from the Revolution team From Ben "although the catwalk is shorter on the earlier builds for some reason they have fixing points along the full length of the tank, meaning in theory offering this type as a further variant may be feasible. They do also have a different top vent arrangement too (three in line, as opposed to three in a circle) which may be awkward, so once we reach the model CAD stage we will take a view on whether we can offer the 2001 variant as an additional model or not" From Mike "at the moment we have no plans to do the original 2001 build as our feeling is that it starts to mean either too many compromises on the model or significantly more expensive tooling" I guess that if not enough business can be generated by a second run using the existing tooling, which represents the 2006 build, then it will be unlikely that any of the 2001 build will appear in N. I'd sell my EWS rake if the blue CAIB ones ever come on the market.
  7. A 2 car Harsco rail grinder would have me reaching for the credit card.
  8. I'd be interested to know how easy it would be for the modeller to alter the two digit headcode, to say red blanks one end and white the other, and also how to fit a crew (cannot propel without a driver)?
  9. Which threw up this oddity in November 1992 East Usk to Yeovil Junction via Westbury - loaded hoppers. Yeovil Junction to Exmouth Junction - light engine Exmouth Junction to East Usk via Taunton - empty hoppers Information taken from a Trainload West document.
  10. I cannot deny a lack of knowledge in how transfers are manufactured but as a boss of mine once said "If you don't ask you don't find out". I asked and ......................... Thanks for taking the time to pass that information on.
  11. TBH it's sometimes quicker. A year ago I asked a trader what type of computer file they could print transfers from, I was going to draw some up for personal use, but they didn't respond. 2 years ago I asked someone else if they could reduce some of their 4mm sheets to 2mm. Got a holding response within a day or two but no contact since.
  12. Looking at old timetables the main Acton to Chislehurst working also reversed at Swanley. That service had more wagons than the additional did so reversal took longer, more time to recharges the brakes etc. The main train was safely tucked up in Chislehurst siding well before the morning peak but the additional had to be pathed into the normal off peak service. A half load of tipplers probably struck a good balance between getting extra stone to Chislehurst once or twice a week without disrupting passenger services too much, if at all.
  13. Happened on 21st and 24th January 1986 if an internal BR document is to be believed. The working was a Tuesday and/or Friday only additional service from Acton Yard which was arranged at short notice, usually only a week in advance.
  14. The model section of February 2012 edition of Rail Express had an article called Modellers guide to Deltic locomotive hauled trains There's a couple of copies of that mag on this site http://magazineexchange.co.uk/cw/rail-express-magazine-february-2012-issue.html
  15. The 33 hauled service actually terminated in platform 2 at Tonbridge and the loco then ran round. When convenient it then ran towards London, 33 leading, until it cleared all of the pointwork. Then it was a propelling movement into platform 4, the down bay. When departure time came it went across the whole layout in order to gain the Redhill line. I was at Tonbridge one evening when a fellow spotter asked the driver if he could cab the 33 from platform 2 to 4. The driver said yes and about half a dozen of us, including me, piled in as well. Any loco hauled trains terminating at platform 4 would need a turnover loco or a propelling movement into the west yard in order to run round. I never saw either take place.
  16. Further to my last post I've discovered that I have a pristine copy of WTT YH for the period 11 May to 27 September 1992. Why I've got it is strange as it's not my most favoured area of the country. If data from the WTT could be of use please Personal Message me with your requirement(s) i.e. in order not to clog up this thread.
  17. If you're after a proper WTT then look for one with the code YH That area code covers freight from London to Berwick (ECML) and all of the lines towards the east coast with the exception of East Anglia. The National Archives at Kew have a lot of YH WTTs along with supplements, which showed changes to freight flows, that were issued to keep the WTTs up to date.
  18. Three 1A6* workings for you from 1965 Monday to Friday 1A60 15.40 Penzance to Paddington perishables 1A69 19.00 Penzance to Paddington postal Sunday 1A66 17.30 Penzance to Paddington
  19. There is this path shown in the Southern freight WTT effective from 14 May 1984 6Z00 (runs when required) 08.15 Dover Town to St Blazey Latchmere Jn was passed at 10.40 so entry onto the Western Region would be around 11ish A runs when required service could be subject to short term changes but without the right documents to hand......... HTH
  20. Sounds right. Do you have a date for this? Says he who's just put his SR freight WTT's away again.
  21. I suppose a mixture of liveries in a Q or STP service might be due to the quarry shunter forming a rake from whatever hoppers were available at the time. As long as stone was shifted I guess nobody would mind. Without a full set of documentation from the time it's all a bit "finger in the air". Looking forward to the book when it's published.
  22. It is very likely that 56059 was working 6O37 08.55 Westbury Up T.C. - Hothfield Siding That along with the other three services were all through Olympia between 11.30 and 12.00, so says a 1986-87 freight WTT, so not much time for the photographer to hang around.
  23. There was a bit on Radio Somerset this morning saying that the WSR is trying to boost its fundraising campaign as they've only got £50,000 against a target of £0.5m.
  24. Here's some numbers taken from a 1991 wagon book published by SCT Publishing 360008, 19, 23, 73, 75, 78, 87, 97, 122 - 124, 127, 135, 139, 143, 145, 149, 163, 169, 173, 177, 179, 183, 192, 215, 226, 228, 239, 251, 252, 260, 265, 267, 287, 311, 312, 320, 325, 329, 333, 339, 351, 353, 357, 358, 371, 391, 422, 424, 451, 454, 457, 458, 460, 466, 477, 500, 502, 511, 527, 532, 537, 539, 541, 542, 544, 548, 572, 595, 600, 603, 610, 613, 615, 616, 627, 639, 649, 652, 664, 665, 702, 707, 713, 728, 729, 737, 743, 748, 766 Would that do you as there's at least another 4 pages worth of data which would probably yield at least the same amount of numbers as above?
  25. £90 worth of parts and paint ordered yesterday afternoon. Parcel just delivered by their courier. Excellent service all round. Now I've got no excuse for finishing off some projects!
