    Airfix B set

Yes I believe it to be so, from what I know the old Airfix moulds were sold to Palitoy (Mainline) and then some of these were sold to Dapol which Hornby then bought. Hornby also got the ex Airfix moulds for the Dean Goods, 4F and a bunch of others, the rest were kept by Palitoy/Kader who went on to make the Bachmann range. I hope this helps, if anyone can correct me on any of the above please do so
  2. This link has a pretty good video that shows the gun and wagons being moved by a SR diesel, you get a very good view of the 12 wheel ammunition wagon and the other support wagons. It starts at about 11.45 and is well worth a watch, if anyone could identify the other wagons being used I would be very grateful. Here's the link - Also to anyone looking forward to the warflats there is a clip at 11.23 which shows a whole train load of them fully loaded.
  3. Rectanks would be a nice addition to the range, along with a ramp wagon for the warflats. They could also produce the smaller railguns such as the 12 inch but that might be a bit more niche, although I think some were kept in Britain in WW2 for defense so that would justify them on British lines if anyone needs an excuse. War office and Naval tankers would be good as well, there's a few different livery's for them and they can release them with different numbers to help make up rakes.
  4. Damn I already have three of these and now they release a ROD version, I was hoping they would release that livery at the beginning and assumed it wouldn't be done. Looks like another train that will be added to the collection
  5. Oh dear I hope I haven't pulled the short straw again, I never seem to have any luck when I buy brand new locomotives. Looks like I shall have to drop an e-mail tomorrow to Hattons and see if anything can be done, seeing as they're sold out of Normandy I fear this not have a happy ending though.
  6. I received my model Monday and to be honest I'm not as impressed as I though I would be, on the plus side it looks amazing and the glowing firebox is pretty unique. But it does seem a bit rushed, you can see on the side where they have cut the running plate off the molding as there are two cut marks which haven't been tidied up at all. I wouldn't expect it on a model at that price and the motor in my one seems really quite loud, easily double that of the P class (more on par with the old Dapol terriers). I don't know if anyone else's seem's loud but the running plate I have noticed on some other pictures online.
  7. I had the same struggle with my SE&CR Grey one, Bluebell slid out with ease but I had to fight the other for a couple of minutes before it relinquished itself from the sleeve.
  8. My P's arrived earlier today and luckily an early finish at work has left me with extra time to give them a run and check them over, out of the box they both run very well and after running in negotiate my insulfrogs without any hesitation. The detail is so impressive on them especially all the little makers plates and relevant insignia, I did have to reattach a little piece on the SECR Grey P which was just roaming around in the box but it just popped back in which was a plus. When I fully work out how to add pictures I will upload some for you to feed your appetite until the postman arrives.
  9. Just received a text informing me that Bluebell and the SECR Grey P's will be delivered tomorrow, I can't wait until they arrive. Now to go and give the railway a clean and tidy up in anticipation of the newest arrivals!
  10. There was a video on page three I believe that shows the WW2 version in Kent with a van behind it, I suspect this is where they kept the shells and other pieces needed to fire the gun. It would be a good wagon to model to run alongside this if anymore information can be found on it.
  11. This has an interesting write up about the guns in both wars, it appears that the WW2 ones were fitted with 13.5inch barrels from the Duke class battleship reserves apart from Boche Buster which was fitted with a 18inch barrel finished in 1919. I'll let you read the write up as I don't wish to spoil your reading, well apart from the bit I just told you. http://www.kenthistoryforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=9108.15
  12. I just found this picture online of the one they are representing, makes for a good comparison. Looking at some other pictures it looks like the ROD extended the roof on a few of these, I may be wrong, im sure someone with more knowledge on Dean Goods can correct me on this. https://www.mediastorehouse.com/dean-goods-locomotive-no-2330/print/444984.html
  13. These are amazing, I shall definitely be getting both types to go with my Lima K5 Leopold railgun. The ROD locomotive will give me something to colour match my 43xx I bought to turn into a ROD locomotive to, what a surprising thing to release. The prices are pretty good as well, I wonder why they only do the WW1 version in a pack with the Dean though, that might hinder the sales a bit if people are only interested in the WW1 railgun.
  14. I was wondering about that, I thought they mainly used strengthened Macow wagons and Poll wagons to move tanks around. It seems a bit weird as the Parrot drops down in the middle which surely couldn't accommodate a tank Edit - After a bit of googling I just found online that Parrot was the WW1 telegraph code for Warflat so we may be thinking of the wrong thing
  15. Finally a ROD in military use, that saves me repainting one at some point. That LBSC H1 looks amazing, I always thought if they released it it would be part of the collectors club, if not I think it shall be my first LBSC locomotive

    New announcement?

I hope it's a WD 2-10-0, it would fit in well with the warwells they did and the warflats Bachmann are making
  17. I think I may have jinxed myself, after running perfectly the evening I received my H I ran it yesterday to show my friend and it was engulfed in white smoke. It wasn't running fast and did not have any rolling stock attached which has given my quite a shock, she does run but seems to heat up rather quickly which can't be a good sign. Im just waiting to hear back from the retailer before I have a look inside
  18. Im sorry to hear about your loco, my one runs and looks perfect (touch wood) The one downside is that if you turn it upside down to fit detailing parts or to have a general gander the coal load falls out but this isn't much of an issue as I won't have it upside down too often, I suppose it will also help if I ever want to add real coal to it. This was my first ever pre-order and I am very happy with what I have received, the polished dome is coated plastic and definitely looks the part. If anyone would like any pictures put up just ask
  19. First the H class, now the P class, throw in some SECR rtr wagons and this year will be perfect. I wonder if it will sell out as quickly as the H class did, im definitely going to pre-order one
  20. By the looks of it I think it's just a sample at the moment, it doesn't have any of the colour detailing added to it such as the rubber wheels, brownings and vision slits. The box on the back looks to just be coloured resin and not yet painted as it has a tarpaulin which I can't see being the same brown as the box. As this is representing a sherman on arrival to Britain I wonder if the box on the back held the brownings and relevant interior fittings such as gun sight's to prevent damage to them if fitted inside?
  21. Oxford Rail have updated their website and added some decorated samples of the Ministry of War warwell and the sherman loaded one. They look great, shame the firefly isn't going to be the load though - http://www.oxfordrai...m/76/OR76WW.htm
  22. There goes my hopes of having a large rake of them, I wonder if they will have the tank covered like they did with the N gauge WW1 set. I may opt for trying out the DOGA kit version, always wanted to try and build a metal kit
