  1. Looks nice. Where is the backscene a picture of?
  2. The one shot from inside the truck is so realistic, in parts, as to be spooky. The only thing letting it down is the speed into corners and changing direction.
  3. Right: in that case, I'll await developments with interest.
  4. A day late posting, sorry: March 6th 1966. Crewe trip and Crewe works. I was only 14, and have lost my notebooks from that era, so remember very little except seeing Duke of Gloucester waiting for scrap, or preservation, outside the paintshops at Crewe works, and long lines of Britannias at Crewe South.
  5. Lots of Peaks found their way down there, I used to travel regularly from Sheffield to Birmingham New Street in the early 70's, and the trains went to the west country, (Plymouth, Exeter or even Penzance), or South Wales, and were often class 46-hauled, later 45/0. Perhaps yours failed at Plymouth, went to Laira for rectification, and was then rostered locally to run it? "A Prototype for Everything" as the Railway Modeller used to say;)
  6. Sorry if this is a daft question, but whose kit is this?
  7. Atmosphere...........from a not even half finished model. Brilliant.
  8. I, for one, will travel to see this, and will make myself known to thank you for the pics. I hope to see 45685, "Barfleur", there on shed;)
  9. Wow, it DOES look like 89001. When you first started cutting I doubted it..........
  10. Looks good. Strange how these little non-standard diesels are so interesting. Was the article in MRJ called "Creating Havoc"?
  11. Has anyone asked what tuntable you will be using?
  12. 3mm LEDs can be had from various places from e-bay, to modelling supply shops, to specialist suppliers like Rapid Electronics and RS Components Don't forget suitable resistors to use the LEDs on 12v, small suppliers may be able advise on resisitor value, and even supply some.
  13. Are there others besides Tamiya? I ask because my lad used to produce dioramas with Tamiya stuff and it was exquisite.
  14. James: I'm sure I've seen strip-type LEDs, not even sure if they WERE LEDs, but certainly gave a striplight effect. Can't remember where though. Try a post on "Questions".
  15. Just wondered. It was obvious from the interior drawing, which I hadn't seen before, that it was for some sort of maintenance, but not what sort. I like the interior drawing, btw, more atmosphere. Even empty.
  16. In terms of this "story", what does this shed actually DO?
  17. Sanding sticks can be made cheaply by using PVA glue to stick a load of lolly sticks, (available in supermarkets etc), onto various grades of wet-or-dry paper, then cutting round the sticks with a craft knife. You can then have loads of any grade you want. I've also made some from 20x10mm stripwood, with the "sandpaper" on the 10mm side, excellent for sanding areas which need to be kept flat, the stripwood won't flex.
  18. I don't know if I missed it on an earlier post, but what will be the finished size of your model?
  19. Intresting, as the last one was. Somehow, the closed door of the last one made me want to know what is in there. Im assuming that some sort of delivery would be made to the shed by road: would lorries have the turning space? Or room to back up to reverse in? I ask as I have driven HGV's and some allowance always seems to be made. Rigid wheelbase trucks are no joke to manoeuvre, (sp), trust me.
  20. Did none of the outbuildings have gutters or downpipes?
  21. Did it have no gutters or downpipes?
