  1. Good morning all A good thread that brings back memories. I remember seeing a full size Beachy Head working an up train through Earlswood in 1956/7. It was the only atlantic that I ever saw. I crowed over my schoolmates that evening when we met to spot what was on the 1815 to Cannon Street usually a King Arthur. I've often thought of building one and your thread may encourage me to do so. Earlswood Nob
  2. Good morning modellers I like the S15 which bought back memories of them at Redhill shed when I was a small boy. The local railwaymen called them "King Arthur Goods Engines", but they occasionally worked Redhill to Guildford/Reading passenger trains in those days (1950's). 3. Hello to all The N8 had larger wheels than the N10, and consquently larger splashers. The N10 splashers had a distinct step between the top of the splasher and the top of the sandbox. Earlswood Nob
  4. Hi all other Gresley fans The Bugatti connnection was very interesting as I have often wondered why the A4's casing was called a Bugatti nose. A piece of almost unconnected trivia is that the only pigeon van I ever recall seeing was at the SW end of Woking station and it was painted blue/grey. It was about in my student days about 1968/9. So one would fit an end of steam layout! Off to the workbench to look for that missing piece, then Twickenham (by train) for the rugby. Swing low sweet chariot.
