  1. Hi, Just to clarify the price increase, The first van was always an experiment to prove the process, during which time additional work and costings did become apparent. The new van features significant modifications to areas such as the roof vents, chassis and brake gear. Additional end number printing and new authentic wheels are also a feature. The batch size is also smaller than the original van. It would also be nice to make a small profit on this batch, so that we can keep producing!
  2. SE&CR 16’ COVERED GOODS WAGON Rails of Sheffield in partnership with Dapol are pleased to announce that they are producing an OO gauge model of the SE&CR 16’ Covered Goods Wagon. Following on from the success of the late condition Diagram 1424 box van, we are excited to be able to offer the much requested earlier SECR version. In 1904 the South Eastern & Chatham Railway introduced covered wagons to an increased length of 16 feet, though in appearance they resembled earlier South Eastern Railway designs. 110 wagons to this design were built up to 1908. Most were fitted with Hill's brake gear, which differed from the RCH or "freighter brakes" fitted to the wagons much later in their lives. The Hill's gear, featured in our new model, is of distinctive and asymmetrical appearance; brakes were fitted to one side of the wagon only, with levers to apply them from either side. Later batches were fitted with Mansell coach-type wheels, which we feature in this model. Also featured are roof vents. The prototypes were fitted with both Laycock, or torpedo, vents, and with "Eros" vents. The latter are quite distinctive in style, and we have chosen to represent this type. The new models will be released in three liveries: SE&CR light grey, as built; the darker late SE&CR grey livery, introduced circa 1917, and SR brown livery, as applied between 1923 and 1936. Just two of the wagons were fitted, in 1909, with experimental pressed steel doors. These doors were the product of The Leeds Forge Company, and had been supplied for wagons built for export. The General Manager of the Leeds firm, Francis L. Lane, persuaded Wainwright to try them. It is not known how long these doors remained fitted, so this variant is offered only in early SE&CR livery. Once again these models have been researched, designed and produced solely in the UK. The price for a single wagon is £32.99 Initially three liveries will be produced, with two running numbers in each livery. The following models are now available for pre-order; SE&CR 16’ Covered Goods Wagon Wainwright ‘SE&CR’ Light Grey No.1922 SE&CR 16’ Covered Goods Wagon Wainwright ‘SE&CR’ Light Grey No.10001 SE&CR 16’ Covered Goods Wagon Maunsell SE&CR Dark Grey No.1923 SE&CR 16’ Covered Goods Wagon Maunsell SE&CR Dark Grey No.10022 SR (ex-SE&CR) Diagram 1424 Box Van, early SR Brown No. 45362 SR (ex-SE&CR) Diagram 1424 Box Van, early SR Brown No. 45360 SE&CR 16’ Covered Goods Wagon with Experimental Doors, Wainwright ‘SE&CR’ Light Grey No.9944 CLICK HERE TO PRE-ORDER A tremendous amount of research and development has been put into this project to ensure accuracy and true replication has been achieved. Production is in the final stages with these models expected in stock in soon. More information and updates on the projects progress will appear on Rails of Sheffield website. Due to the small production run these models are expected to sell out quickly and pre-ordering is highly recommended to avoid disappointment. For further details please see www.railsofsheffield.com
  3. Unfortunately they also visited us on Friday 7th February. Two O gauge locomotives were stolen which were on the counter during a cabinet clean. Luckily they tried to open further cabinets but all were locked and they soon left. This was reported to the police and footage / image was supplied to them Here are a couple of screen shots, including one of the registration plate of the vehicle they arrived in.

  15. Hi, We have replied to your email. We would happily replace if you would like to return. The van does come in three parts and it is a friction push fit to fix all together. The reason for this was to allow the customer to add additional weight should it be desired. These could be glued and permanently fixed if required. I would recommend PVA as less permanent than super glue.
  16. Our second batch of exclusive BR (exSECR) diagram 1424 box vans have now all sold Thanks to everyone who ordered. Should more become available we will advertise.
  17. We still expect a first EP of the Caledonian 812 to be with us next month, we have stressed in time for Model Rail Scotland. In regards to the adverts, we have quite a few ongoing exclusive projects we simply rotate project adverts in our magazine / advert space. More updates will follow as soon as we hear them. Oliver

  20. We are pleased to announce a small batch of our exclusive BR (exSECR) diagram 1424 box vans are now in stock. VERY LIMITED, JUST 30 OF EACH PRODUCED IN THIS RUN SO BE QUICK IF YOU WANT ONE! ORDER NOW The price per wagon is £29.99 Three liveries are available, with two running numbers in each livery: * RL-1424-001 No. S45374, Southern Railway brown with BR lettering * RL-1424-002 No. S45382, Southern Railway brown with BR lettering * RL-1424-003 No. S45358, BR freight stock grey * RL-1424-004 No. S45427, BR freight stock grey * RL-1424-005No. 45374, Southern Railway brown, 1936 livery * RL-1424-006 No. 45455, Southern Railway brown, 1936 livery The model is produced using cutting-edge print technology, designed for volume production and currently available from only one facility in the UK. This enables a practically layer-free continuous print, up to a 100 times faster than conventional 3D printing. This results in a material with excellent mechanical properties and capable of capturing fine detail. ---------------- If you have already purchased and love our exclusive vans then please vote for both Rails and the van in the **British Railway Modelling Awards 2019** We are pleased to have been nominated in six categories of the British Railway Modelling Awards 2019. * OO gauge wagons for this SE&CR box van * OO Gauge Manufacturer of the Year * Overall Manufacturer of the Year * Retailer Customer Service Award * Innovation of the Year for this SE&CR box van * Retailer Customer Service Award The poll is open until 26th January 2020. 21. LB&SCR LIVERIED TERRIER LOCOMOTIVES AN UPDATE FROM LOCOMOTION MODELS & RAILS OF SHEFFIELD As expected, we have now received the advance production livery samples of the LB&SCR versions that were air freighted to us during the Christmas /New Year holidays. These were received for final approval earlier this week before we authorised the bulk delivery to be air-freighted to us. We hope you will agree that they do look stunning and that they will be worth the wait but we do apologise sincerely for the delays. The firebox glow also adds significantly to the appeal when running smoothly on the compensated chassis. All models now come complete with a factory fitted speaker, with simple push fit decoder fitting for those of you not ordering sound or DCC fitted. The agreement we made at the start of this project with Dapol was that we would produce museum standard, high fidelity models and at no stage have we been prepared to compromise on that despite the protracted wait. That resolve continues and we are not prepared to accept anything short of that goal. Unfortunately, a boiler band registration issue was identified on the production batch sent from the factory at Christmas which had not been present on signed off livery samples. They have therefore been rejected and new bodies are to be produced as soon as possible. This cannot be easily rectified with a fully assembled working model. Please note this applies only to the LB&SCR versions for both the Locomotion models and Rails of Sheffield ‘Boxhill’. The NRM version is as preserved with the shorter toolbox and some minor livery differences compared to the Rails version which is as built in service livery with the longer toolbox. Unfortunately, the requirement to do this coincides with the shut down ready for Chinese New Year (25th January until 8th February). Production will not likely recommence in full until the third week of February and we regret we are unlikely to see these particular versions until April 2020 (possibly late March). As soon as they are ready they will be air freighted to the UK. We would rather delay delivery than release something that falls just short of the exacting standards we have set the manufacturer and you expect of us. We can only apologise for the disappointment that this further delay to these variants will cause. We are currently awaiting final production samples of two of our other versions for checking in the next few days prior to completing the approval process. If all goes well these should be released in January. These are KESR Bodium and LB&SC Gipsyhill. The remainder of the releases will in general follow the announcement dates with the first batch coming first with the exception of Brighton Gold Medal which should arrive with Boxhill. Production and delivery will be continuous from here at the factory, both before and after CNY, until all 13 versions have been delivered successfully. We hope you will agree with our decision to not accept any compromises after the effort which has been put into achieving the most accurate model of a ready to run Terrier yet seen. View all versions of our Terrier locomotives here
