  4. Thanks for the nice & encouraging words Folks, Hayfield! please go back to page two of this very topic for the mold info' it's not hard to make and the mold will last a lot longer than i will probably need it for, i made similar ones for my garden railway stuff and i've cast concrete and mortar in those, and even after dozens of castings they are still in good condition. CME i believe i've seen a few mag' articles on the weathering etc...was this you? It's all being read & used by myself to better my modeling efforts, they say imitation is the best form of flattery....such a shame all the folks who copied my garden rail ideas and stuff over the years and probably made good money off them, then pass the idea's off as their own ...just a sly dig at a few i know who did it on a previous forum. C.M.E.'S article?

  6. Not much to report today only i did manage to get the base layers of paint on the car filler walls. After scraping out the mortar lines i sprayed them with some old spray cans i had..the expiry date was April '15. thankfully they still worked ok!...i then painted them with a 50/50 mix of Matt Black and Humbrol Matt Brown No.29. which was later when fully dried rubbed down with 1200 grade grit paper. A long way to go on these yet weatherin' wise so next job is to cut them to length and glue them into position first.

  10. I remember as a 6-7 year kid in the '60's going with my Dad when he was taking my WW2 badly injured Uncle to pick up a new Invacar, i'm sure it was up near Blackburn where we went for it that day? I do remember how as kids we called them very un pc wise to say these days 'Spa%1 chariots' and you could spot and hear one coming from a mile away and how kids would take the wee-wee as it went passed, thankfully times have changed and disabled folks don't stand out anymore when driving passed. I wonder if they were all made in sky Blue?
  11. Very nice! Just what this weather is only fit for, some lovely shots of the train crossing the bridge, and the Lady statue looks like she has a hand held remote in one hand!

  16. Wow! Peter thanks they'll be great! i'll pm you later I can deffo' re-cycle them, and if you ever need any walling? Nowt on the telly box last eve' so i set about scraping out the mortar lines and they came out ok using just the sharp pointy end of a needle file.
  17. A few hours later and the car filler has come out ok and the detailing has come out a treat, i'll need a few more strips making up later this week but this lot should keep me happy scraping and cutting away at the mortar lines for a few evenings. I smoothed the car filler out into the mold at a rough depth of about 8-10mm with a broad wallpaper scraper, i first smeared the whole mold with a thin coat of petroleum jelly to act as a release agent. I then cut it into the strips i need with the angle grinder fitted with a thin metal cutting disc.
