  1. As mentioned on the Panic Buying thread, my Milkman is having a bonanza, order books full and overflowing. Also, my cat is getting her dinner earlier than usual (she usually gets fed when I get home form work) which is good news from her point of view, anyway!
  2. There is a silver lining for some. Our milkman has been so inundated with orders for doorstep deliveries he cannot take any more. (Those of us who have always used him are now feeling smug.)
  3. But I thought there were no Ad breaks on the BBC? (No telly, so things may have changed since I last watched it.)
  4. House of the Rising Sun - trad
  5. Madeira, my dear? - Flanders and Swann
  6. I think that's just lens distortion, unless they fixed all those leaning window frames in the footbridge as well!
  7. Are ye right, there, Michael? - Percy French (after getting stuck on the West Clare)
  8. Just a thought, but did Twyford totem get changed to Twyford for Henley?
  9. Is advertising where full shelves are to be found a socially responsible thing to do?
  10. Sadly all to true. I have been shocked by some comments from people who seem not to have even the basics of cooking (like boiling eggs). My mother taught me how to cook before I left home. Whilst I am far from a good cook, I know enough to be able to mix the ingredients cook them and survive. In my day, schools only taught girls how to cook (domestic economy), so it was not much better then for boys. (I also learnt some of the basics from reading Swallows and Amazons et seq.)
  11. I feel pretty - Leonard Bernstein
  12. Have done the weekly shop and staved off having to subsist on cat food for another week. No fresh veg or spuds to be had in the Coop, fortunately the small local shop on the corner had some and they always keep some for their regular customers like me! In other news, our local picture framer has branched out and is now stocking toilet paper!
  13. Old student bodges come in useful again!
  14. In public loos, it is advisable always to check for presence of paper before committing yourself.................
  15. Must admit to panic buying this week. Nothing to do with COVID-19, just my cat refused to eat what was in the store cupboard and I had to rush out in a panic and buy her something else! I've also noticed a severe shortage of Mothers day cards (the few on the shelves are worse than usual) - have folks been panic buying them?
  16. Where did that story come from? The Experiments had larger wheels, longer wheelbase and a bigger boiler, a totally different locomotive even if they incorporated some parts (shades of rebuilding Claughtons into Patriots). They also looked heaps better!
  17. A poem on the underground wall - Simon and Garfunkel
  18. How about the LNWR Bill Baileys? https://lnwrs.zenfolio.com/p933561773 Weird proportions and by all accounts they didn't even have the virtue of being any good!
  19. A Church is burning - Simon and Garfunkel
  20. I suspect your 60s version and my 70s version will still be going strong when the modern versions fall apart!
