  1. What a nice model! It reminds me of something similar I made once. Does it run well?
  2. Then again, I could make a 19" Goods from a Hornby B12 - the original modern model before it was retooled and detailed, of course.
  3. I would, but scratch-building is very new to me and I have yet to try it.
  4. It's at this point I'm thinking - should I stick with the LNWR Experiment once complete or make a 19" Goods 4-6-0 out of it?
  5. You may be interested to know that a book by Robin Barnes explains and shares details on many what-if engines. The book is entitled “Locomotives that Were & Locomotives that Weren’t” and I was thinking of buying it and reading it. https://www.advanced-steam.org/ast-news/robin-barnes-new-book-now-available/ https://www.camdenmin.co.uk/products/from-the-files-locomotives-that-were-locomotives-that-weren-t
  6. That model reminds me of Harvey from TTTE! I know because he shares the same basis.
  7. At last, your Edward model is up and running! Very well done!
  8. Move over, Ferrari! Sorry, folks. Had to resize the originals due to this 10MB thing... (So much for my 580th post!) Anyway, here she is in her anglo-amalgamated glory! The decals and numbering have yet to be applied as well as finishing items and such.
  9. Golly gee! I'll bet that the Davey Crockett 2-6-0 chassis would've been re-used as for the Jones Goods model but with a double-leading axle making it a 4-6-0 chassis.
  10. Man, I wish I had that kit so I could make it myself and run it on my layout.
  11. Does anybody remember Triang Hornby which later became Hornby Railways which later became simply known as Hornby? What would it be like if the name Tri-ang Hornby was still used today? Here are some models and train sets that could've been made or produced in their ranges: Steam Locomotives The LNWR Whale Experiment Class 4-6-0 - the B12 chassis would be somewhat similar and these locos would have had synchro-smoke and the chuff-chuff sound in the tender. The Midland Railway 2511 Yankee Class 2-6-0 - made using parts from the Davey Crockett locomotive incorporated with a Johnson tender and a buffer-beam as well as a different chimney. The LMS Stanier 3-Cyl 2-6-4T - made using the 3MT Chassis altered to a 2-6-4T Chassis with a completely new body. The Midland Railway 1377 1F 0-6-0T - made from the Jinty 3F 0-6-0T model but with toolboxes added onto the front and a comepletely-new cab as per original loco. The LSWR Urie/Maunsell S15 Class 4-6-0 -notice how similar the N15 is in terms of the wheel chassis. A simple alteration of the tooling and variations of tenders (the Maunsell bogie tender) would suffice and compliment the model nicely. The GNR Ivatt C2 Class 4-4-2 - made from the same body as the B12 albeit with altered cab, slightly tall chimney, dome and GNR-style tender and 4-4-0 Chassis from L1 Class re-tooled to have trailing truck from A3 Chassis made into a 4-4-2 chassis. The GNR Ivatt C1 Class 4-4-2 - made from an altered A3 model and the same Chassis and tender as the C2 model. The GWR Churchward 2900 Saint Class 4-6-0 - made from the GWR 49xx Hall Class 4-6-0 but with alterations and a Churchward tender from the GWR Dean Single 4-4-2. The GWR Hawksworth 1600 Class 0-6-0PT - made using the 8751 model. The GWR Hawksworth 6959 Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 - made again with the Hall model. BR Standard 4MT 2-6-4T - a simple variation of the 3MT 2-6-2 but with a 2-6-4T wheel arrangement. Diesel Locomotives BR Class D3/6 0-6-0de - an entirely new body made with the 0-6-0 chassis used on most locos. LMS Sentinel 0-4-0 - made using the Dock Shunter Chassis and a new body. GWR Diesel Railcar - made with the BR Class 35 Chassis and a new body. British Rail D3/12 - made with an altered Class 08 Diesel shunter body. British Rail Class 70 - an entirely new body made with the BR Class 37 Chassis. Coaching Stock LNWR Composite and Brake Coaches - repainted BR Suburban Coaches with added corridor gangways to represent the LNWR coaches. Camping Coach - repainted BR Mainline Coach to represent the camping trains of yesteryear. Pullman Observation Car - modified Pullman Brake Coach on Pullman Coach bogies. WW1 Ambulance Coach - repainted LMS Mainline Coach also seen in Ambulance Train set with exclusive Midland 3F repainted in ROD livery. Freight Stock LMS Coke Wagon North Eastern 7-Plank Wagon Shell, BP and ESSO Tank Wagons United Dairies Tank Wagons Shell Petrol Tanker Wagon - re-used Transcontinental Tank Car with added buffer beams. LNWR Vent Wagon GWR Flatbed Bogie Wagon LNWR Brake Van Midland Railway Brake Van Train Sets Ambulance Train - with Midland 3F in ROD livery, two Ambulance Coaches and oval of track with siding, power-clips, wires and controller. North by North Western - with LNWR Experiment Class 4-6-0, LNWR Composite and Brake Coaches and oval of track with with siding, power-clips, wires and controller. Midland Local - with Midland Railway 1377 1F 0-6-0T, four Freight Wagons in Private Owner liveries, Midland Railway Brake Van and oval of track with power-clips, wires and controller. The Western Local - with GWR Hawksworth 1600 Class 0-6-0PT, GWR Vent Van, GWR Coal Wagon, GWR Toad Brake van and oval of track with power-clips, wires and controller. Southbound Express - with British Rail Class 70, two BR Mainline Coaches in BR Southern Region Green and oval of track with siding, power-clips, wires and controller. Great Northen Belle - with GNR Ivatt C1 Atlantic 4-4-2, two Composite Coaches in GNR livery, Brake Coach in GNR livery and oval of track with siding, power-clips, wires and controller. Those are all models and train sets with a lot of potential in them. What does everyone think?
  12. It sounds like a fun challenge. I've never entered it before but I shall.
  13. I did find an Experiment with a Belpaire firebox, a handful in fact: https://lnwrs.zenfolio.com/p994247815/h821FF42#h503f45c No. 2624 'SARACEN' Belpaire firebox, LMS cab roof, Ross pop safety valves, LNWR lamp sockets. https://lnwrs.zenfolio.com/p994247815/h821FF42#h561dd797 No. 5487 'COMBERMERE' Belpaire firebox, LMS cab roof, Ross pop safety valves, LMS lampirons, number on cab side. https://lnwrs.zenfolio.com/p994247815/h821FF42#h5c69620f No. 5526 'BACTRIA' Belpaire firebox, LMS cab roof, Ross pop safety valves, LMS lampirons. Number on cab side https://lnwrs.zenfolio.com/p994247815/h821FF42#h61d381b No. 5482 'QUEEN EMPRESS' Belpaire firebox, LMS cab roof, Ross pop safety valves
  14. I still have the model from the 2000s only I made it as the upcoming new-build The Unknown Warrior.
  15. Those models are a challenge to make, but worth it, though.
  16. Thanks for the tip, but I have built up my confidence over the years and I am willing to try just about anything.
  17. Wow, that's just as good as Bachmann's super-detailed loco-drive model! I hope it still works.
  18. Well, to be honest, I really did try to find one but they're hard to come by. So, maybe I should stick with the 19in Express Goods - what do you think? Sorry for getting myself all wishy-washy.
  19. A future project: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/140536-experiment-of-north-western-proportions/&do=findComment&comment=3404509 This is something I'm planning and going to do in the near-future.
