  1. Another something I have been working on since Bachmann's recent releases of the Atlantic models! It's an LNWR Whale Atlantic 4-4-2. I know that the LNWR had Precursor Tank 4-4-2T tank locomotives, but this one is the Precusor Atlantic as I have decided. A total of 25 were built in 1907 to 1911 long after George Whale's death in 1910 and they were numbered 3025 - 3050. The first batch were originally unnamed but later named after Shakespearian characters, the second after Dickensian characters and the later batch after folklore figures. They survived into LMS days numbered in the 15500 and the last surviving examples into BR days only to be withdrawn by 1951 when the numbering block hit that of the Patriots. Fortunately, only one (No. 15673 Dick Turpin) was kept for preservation by the shed foreman at Shrewsbury and purchased by the NRM in the National collection and is currently on static display at Barrow Hill Roundhouse and Railway Museum.
  2. Yes, please! I'd love to! I've always wondered what they look like.
  3. I have studied the model carefully, so removal of the valve gear in place of the valve gear the 2501s had would be quite a challenge and not for the faint of hearts as I have been told.
  4. Thank you. Wow! What a marvellous engine! Pardon me for asking, but does it run in both directions?
  5. True, true. I was thinking of using an Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 as a basis for the 2501 Class, but the trouble is getting it to work in the tender what with its wiring and all, so that's probably for a future project.
  6. Indeed! Bachmann ought to produce a special limited edition of the replica in aid and support of the project. What do you folks think?
  7. As you can tell by the title, I am working on another model, this time in realistic territory... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midland_Railway_2511_Class Yes, the Midland Railway Yankee Mogul! Sure, no RTR models or kits of this locomotive exist, not even in this scale, but until now, a model of such an example is currently being made by me from a Bachmann GWR 43xx 2-6-0 from the 2000s and a Johnson 3F tender as well as a D49 Shire cab are being used together. Sure, they were all scrapped long before the formation of the LMS, but for me, this is a fun project to do and blood, sweat and tears (along with some compromises) are worth it. I may not have any WIP pictures because I want to keep the final version a surprise for you all. This will be the first 00 Gauge recreation of the MR 2511 Class to date! I, along with a friend, are doing well together on this project and that itself is going good. Assembly of the locomotive is going well, but painting, lining, numbering and decal application will be the next steps. Let;s hope for the best!
  8. Well, my Stirling Single finally arrived last Friday and I gotta say...she sure is a beauty! And a proud one, too.
  9. Huzzah-zah! Mine still hasn't turned up, though. Waste of time and money... Thank you very much. I am still looking forward to mine and the full payment has been fulfilled, hopefully.
  10. What a great selection of models! Suppose we made an electric locomotive with both back ends of the Class 91?
  11. Thomas the Tank Engine in S Gauge, anyone?
  12. I've seen it at my local model shop earlier today and it looks nice and promising!
  13. I've never owned S Scale before and I have never seen any S Scale trains in real-life before. So, what is it like?
  14. I bet we all know of the replica built at the Bluebell Railway, but what about Bachmann producing a promotional model to help support the funds for the new-build replica?
  15. I've just seen a video of a British S Scale layout and it looks nice. It's halfway between 00/HO and O which is nice.
