  1. I am autistic and proud about it but at the same time ashamed. I did not ask to be austitic, I was born that way. So what if I do come off as mildly-eccentric? I can be soft-spoken every now and then, but I do tend to be big and loud at times and not just for the sake of showmanship. Most of the time, I do pretend I don't have a disabillity as I fear that it would come between me and forming social relationships with people without disabilities who I call 'ables'. And anyway, I was diagnosed with it at the age of four and the only way they could communicate with me is through trains (mostly the TTTE stuff, but I do not wish to bore anybody with all the details). And what's this I hear about curable? Utterly preposterous! Do they really think medications will curve our symptoms? I think not! It's not like we have an infectious disease or some kind of plague virus or something (which thankfully we do not, but if some do, I apologise and you have my sympathy). It's bad enough we have been denied jobs as that has us limited to voluntary work and such. No matter how hard we work, they still reject us from paying jobs that they always give to normal, regular everyday people. All that hard work for nothing, too. Do we come from another planet? Absolutely not - we were born on this planet and we have a right to be seen and heard. I am standing up for my kind and myself for the sake of a better world and a better future for our kind! I say stop splitting us into groups and let us mingle with regular people.
  2. I was thinking of getting either the Bachmann models of Bill and Ben or making RWS-esque models like you have done. Nice engine! I'll bet this would've seen work overseas on other continental railways around the world.
  3. Well, making a kit-built tender-drive locomotive would be a challenge.
  4. I don't know about you, but Hornby went for quantity over quality. Once, I saw an Railroad A1/A3 chassis (the old tender-drive one, mind you) and it was bowed after the moulding process. It's true because my usual dealer saw it.
  5. Originally, I was intending to recreate the LNWR 19in Express Goods 4-6-0, but I couldn't find the right chassis. Instead, after much careful planning and thinking, I decided to instead go for the LNWR Whale Experiment Class 4-6-0 as the only decent chassis that I had was the Hornby B12. What I intend to do is order an LNWR G2A body complete with tender but no loco chassis as well as a Hornby China B12 Chassis. The running plate at the front will need extending, but an extended one from a broken loco would suffice (you guessed it - from a Hornby B12). The running plate will also be modified to take the B12 Chassis and several modifications will be made. Here are several examples of this engine I found courtesy of the Railways of Warwickshire website. Yes, I know the engines all carried names, but I won't naming it as I am just gonna stick with the Belpaire firebox and the LMS crimson livery that it would've carried. Besides, I still have the 19in Express Goods still stuck in my mind and it is the closest I am ever going to get with the model recreation because the B12 boiler is too large and would make it look rather out of proportion kinda like an HO Scale model. Wish me luck on this one!
  6. Unless you made a tender-drive version of the model and built the loco from a kit of parts much like Hornby's Railroad models?
  7. Well, the series was meant to be taken as realistic as realistic can be - something the Thin Clergyman himself intended to do after Book 6 of The Railway Series. Try comparing that to the Bob the Builder reboot series.
  8. Surprise, surprise! At least this ought to keep the hobby going!
  9. LMS Non Corridor Coaches would be perfect for Pre-Grouping locomotives of the North Staffordshire, Midland, Caledonian, Glasgow & South Western, Furness, Lancashire & Yorkshire and the good-old London and North Western Railway companies!
  10. I was thinking of getting a tender like that for my SR Maunsell Y Class 2-8-0 'Black Beetle' freight locomotive.
  11. Not only that, but one of the pegs holding the handrail at the front needs sticking back in again.
  12. Ho, ho and ho - no, no and no. I was pre-occupied with the Yankee Mogul model and needed more information. However, I shall be joining the LNWR Society when they appear at Warley next.
  13. Hands up who wants to see Hornby's take on these models including pre-rebuild versions of No. 6100 Royal Scot (or, at least, No. 6152 The King's Dragoon Guardsman) and No. 6115 Scots Guardsman as either a seperate model or part of a special train pack?
  14. It does, indeed. Next, I'll join the L&NWR Society, too!
  15. Indeed I shall! For now, here is a drawing of the proposed model.
  16. I am pleased to announce that at the Warley Model Railway Exhibition, I joined the Midland Railway Society!
  17. And here it is! My Midland Railway Yankee Mogul is nearing completion! I just applied the livery on it now. The decals and lining have yet to be added after the second coat and the model still works fine. Stay tuned for more on it as it develops!
  18. So, some would rather go for a cartoony matte-finish, right? The shine on them made them look so darn realistic even in the early seasons of the original UK series.
  19. I already have my own model with some GNR coaching stock to go with it which is nice hence why I attempted to make my own Pre-Grouping Train Packs. Say, do you reckon a small boiler version of the C1 is in the works?
  20. When in Rome... Steam - G&SWR Drummond 403 Class 2-6-0 'Austrian Goods' - there aren't enough 2-6-0 locomotives in Hornby's range so this one has potential. Why, even reusing the James the Red Engine chassis and upgrading it to a more loco-drive version than the tender-drive one. - LNWR Prince of Wales Class 4-6-0 - it would be nice to see another inner-cylinder 4-6-0 in the range. - GER Class S69 4-6-0 - a marvellous counterpart to the later version of the class with a Belpaire Firebox and in original Pre-Grouping condition. Diesel and Modern Image - BR Class 17 Bo-Bo - we could do with this model in 00 (and I DO MEAN a proper working one than Heljan's not-so-great one). - BR Class 28 Metrovick Co-Bo - Yes, I know Heljan's got their own version of this model, but then again, why not? Coaches and Wagons - Midland Railway Clerestories - we could honestly do with some more Pre-Grouping Coaching stock and wagons. The Surprising Thing - Why not ressurect some of the original Tri-ang Space Battle Stuff for the Railroad range or make a train set out of it inspired by the H.G. Wells novel The War of the Worlds? The loco in question would be an 0-4-0 steam locomotive or diesel locomotive painted in silver and have Steampunk style fittings added to it in keeping with the set's theme. And those are my speculations for Hornby's 2019 range.
  21. What company would it represent - North British, LBSCR, M&GN Joint Railway or private owner?
  22. True, but in above-all honesty, I've never worked with Brassmasters or any brass metal kits before. I would say or think the old GEM kit is worth trying and starting.
  23. Perhaps I should. Of course, I could always make one from a Hornby B12 with some minor (or major) modifications.
  24. What about the Prince of Wales and 19in Express Goods 4-6-0s? It's the Whale 19in Express Goods Class I'm interested in.
