  1. But it seemed totally awesome when I discovered it! I mean, it can happen, can't it?
  2. This article I found was explaining all about what a real-life version of Henry the Green Engine in his old shape will be like and it is really happening! I just had to share it, here! https://newbuildsteam.com/2018/04/01/new-build-henry-the-green-engine-announced/ Isn't this marvellous? If only we could ask for a real-life new build James the Red Engine or Edward the Blue Engine...
  3. I like this Crane Tank! Too bad it never survived into preservation...
  4. Well, this was something I learned from my trip to Shildon. Please don't take it the wrong way. Oh, what's the use? I was trying to make a point, but I failed miserably.
  5. And here is the update on my Mk II Mogul! The running board is undergoing some work so far, so it'll take some time. Anyway, it's taking shape. Here's the boiler receiving an undercoat: I will be painting the boiler in the crimson livery I chose (the BR Crimson is the best to use whereas the crimson lake is much too dark and gives a sort of purple essence which I strongly dislike). Anyway, I hope you'll like the work on the Mogul, so stay tuned for more!
  6. I find that very interesting! If it's one locomotive that we should make a repliace of, it's the Midland Railway 3F 0-6-0 tender locomotive. Too bad none were preserved, but just think how nice it would be to see one again even if it's built from scratch. That's the sort of engine you'd see running on heritage railways in the UK, if one would've survived. That itself is almost similar to the L&YR Class 28, but if you made it a 2-6-0, you've have yourself an inner-cylinder 2-6-0 for mixed-traffic work.
  7. Here's something I made that will hopefully get more women and girls involved with trains and the hobby. This is a railway signal merged with the female symbol as it's something that's been fresh in my head for some time. It clearly expresses as a reminder of a time during the First and Second World Wars when women actually worked on the railways and drove trains while their husbands were away fighting (and trying not to get killed in the process). Yes, times were good...at least until the wars ended and their husbands (the lucky ones who survived) and returned home which meant their wives were no longer needed to work on the railway and went back to a life of house-work and keeping something warm in the oven (a fact I once learned while in Shildon). But now, times have changed and it's high-time to put gender roles to rest. This is the future and we, as a society have a choice (something we lacked or so we thought until now) to choose the lifestyle we have and do all the things people agree or disagree about doing (men working in hair salons and teaching ballet, women driving lorries and working on building sites, anything)! However, one hobby that is equally male-dominated in comparison with the American Football Association is railway modelling or model railroading. Judging by the various books and TV programmes we have seen, nearly every single hobby we enjoy used to have specific rules in regards to gender. But those days are over. Anybody remembers how big a deal was made about boys playing with dolls should also remember how big a deal was made about girls playing in sports. For those of you who have seen A League Of Their Own will seem to agree. Model railways should be enjoyed between both boys and girls regardless of which gender they are. We need more female modellers in this hobby right now and we must think up some ways to appeal the hobby better. It's wise not to put down others just because of who they are or how very different they are from you, so never put down a girl or a woman just because she is a girl or a woman. I'm sure that there are clever ways to attract more women and girls into the hobby (such as painting a locomotive and some odd bits of rolling stock pink, stick in a box with track and a transformer and then sell it as a special train set - something a certain well-known British Model Railway Company that is still going strong today would most likely do). Why not just take your daughters to a heritage railway or a Day Out With Thomas event? I'm sure they might like it or maybe they would not, I don't know and I can't guarantee it. Those of you have have read The Railway Children or seen either its stage or screen adaptations, two of the main protagonists are girls and often see trains a lot as they live by a railway line. The classic story, The Little Engine Who Could, has a main protagonist who is female - in fact, the engine that broke down is also female whereas the other engines who rudely refuse or politely decline to pull the birthday train are male. Nearly all the engines in the Railway Series books by the Rev. W. Awdry were all male and the coaches were seen as female, but it wasn't until1961, the Reverend introduced the first female engine in the series and another in 1972 eleven years later even though they were diesels. In the 2000 film Thomas & the Magic Railroad, the first female steam engine was introduced in 2000 but only as a one-time film character; three years later in 2003, the first female steam engine in the television adaption Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends (nowadays Thomas & Friends) was introduced and followed by another in 2005 and 2006 and again in 2011 and 2013; plus, it was recently announced last year in 2017 twice as to make the cast more diverse. Some have complained about it and even met with criticism regarding the change of cast, but we all can't fight change. Things will still change and you can't even slam on the brakes or try to change the directions they're going in, so don't knock something until you try it. As you can see, pink is not always every girl's favourite colour, even though it was once considered a boys' colour back in Victorian times, but whatever we do, we do it as long as we enjoy it and if you;'re happy, so is everyone. Nobody has to live in the Dark Ages anymore and railway modelling and a passion for trains and railways should be loved by everyone regardless of age, sex or race. I just wish to encourage everyone to get out there and do the things you love to do and don't anybody define your limits because of who you are and what your gender is. I wish to encourage many girls and women to start planning, building and running model railways today!
  8. Nice! I bet it;s worth a challenge in 00 scale!
  9. Thanks! In fact, I had an alternative choice which is using four Hornby 2-road Engine Shed kits and putting them together.
  10. Glad to hear from you again! Nice to see your layout is changing and progressing in terms of lock, stock and such.
  11. I hope it runs well. What is its purpose - freight, passenger or mixed-traffic?
  12. My, it's been a long time since I last updated this topic! Hopefully, I will do at some point.
  13. Back again with some updates! Edward is nearly completed at long last! Emily has received detailing, too, and soon, her funnel will be finished! Last but not least, Percy has had some handrails added on and his cab has improved, so now a bit more painting on the interior, a loco crew added inside and a front coupling will be added! Stay Happy & Really Useful!
  14. Oh, dear. I hope you'll get her fixed, soon. Me, I am working on a Mk II of my LNWR Mogul using a Bachmann G2A. I was thinking of calling it a G27. What do you think?
  15. Remember when I intended to use the Bachmann Tidmouth Sheds? I decided to go back to the early RWS books and try and interpret the original Tidmouth Sheds as it was originally. I was thinking of using two Bachmann 4-road engine sheds stuck together at both sides. I would be using original pics of the Reverend's layout as references except that the Real Lives of Thomas website has been offline so I'll have to rely on the illustrations instead. What do you think? https://hattonsimages.blob.core.windows.net/products/44-050_27143_Qty1_1.jpg
  16. Now that Bachmann has announced the Caledonian 812 Class 0-6-0 in 00 scale, I was thinking of getting a couple of these bad-boys because of detailed they are compared to the Bachmann models which I originally intended to add detailing as well as repaint into their RWS liveries. What are you thoughts? Anyway, Edward is nearly finished and Percy is taking shape reasonably well. I will be posting pics of the models in progress soon.
  17. No problem! I'd love to make a Yankee Mogul like that myself one day, please. Please could you show us how?
  18. Nice layout, that! Also, nice model of the mogul, too. Wouldn't it be nice to feature it in the Midland Railway crimson livery? Also, is it possible to make a 00 Gauge version of it? Most likely with a GWR 4300 Chassis and a Hornby bogie tender.
  19. That's interesting. I have been inspired mainly by it.
  20. Anybody familiar with the Midland Railway Yankee Moguls? They must've been some interesting locomotives. Does anybody wish there were 00 Gauge models of them in kits or RTR form?
  21. If only there were more female railway modellers here...I'd sure love to get to know them...really, I would.
  22. This may seem a little overblown, but in the end, your journey is whatever you make it.
