  1. No, I don't want to bash anybody ! But over £200 for a little PCB and a speaker is a lot. Need to make good choices. Thanks.
  2. Thank you for that, in what way are Biffo better?
  3. Well there is a £55 price difference between the two, so if the Biffo is also good, then I can't quite understand why anybody would buy the Howes?? Many be somebody tell me why the huge difference in price? Thanks.
  4. Hi, As tile really, I'm not lucky enough to be able to hear these sound units before I spend my money and they are not cheap! I need a sound card in my Heljan 42, Howes have been noted as being very good, but what about other sound card brands for the 42? Thanks,
  5. So moving on slightly from the sound for the 14xx, I need to ask about the 42 That Howes does sound good, but is there any merit in getting as many sounds form Youchoos for general consistency of electronics? Does anybody know if the Howes is much better than the Youchoos? I have a Biffo in my 08.
  6. Your not taking over anything, I'm very glad of the help, I'm still very new to DCC and sound and I need all the help I can get My 42 NEEDS DCC as the slow speed crawl is not all that great, so some DCC low control will help and she is naked without sound. I spent years thundering around 5" tracks with my fully loaded 42 and to have my O gauge 42 without sound is a bit sad.
  7. What diesel sounds have you been blown away by? I have a Warship to sound and a 14 Ted on order, guna need sounds for those. Thanks.
  8. I pushed the button on the Youchoos full set (decoder, biggest twin speaker for engine and stay alive). I'm no expert, but I can report back if anybody is interested in my opinion of the sound quality and texture? If no message left here, I'll not bother you all with my opinion, up to you
  9. Hello, Yes, I'm inclined to agree :-) Edit, I just found out that the 14xx Youchoos sound also has the auto coach as well, job done, I'm sold
  10. She is a 48xx auto fitted Dapol 7s-006-001
  11. Any ideas? Sorry, hopping from foot to foot waiting to hit the buy button on the Youchoos website
  12. I've only just seen this offering!! I need one !!!!! Pre-order placed just now. Can't wait.
  13. Hi, I just bought an O Gauge Dapol 58xx/ 48xx and want to fit DCC and sound. I have very little understanding of fitting decoders into locos other than doing a hand full of 00 locos and an O gauge LegoBiffo 08 card with sound. It is my understanding that Youchoos do a great sounding file for the 58xx/ 48xx, the sample on their site sounds good to my ear. Am I correct in thinking this? I want the biggest sound I can get in this loco, Youchoos suggest their IceCube28X18X08. Should I go with this or has anybody managed to fit a bigger or better one? I'm looking for the biggest sound I can get within the loco with the best bass. Thanks
  14. This is why I asked the question in post No1.
  15. It would be nice to be able to see the products they sell as I think it would be of interest to me.
  16. Thank you Brossard, you have really helped. This is all I see on the C&L site on my standard Mac laptop running normal stuff, never seen this problem before ?
  17. I've just had a look on the C&L website to look at track options, and I can't see any of the pictures that show the products. Is it just me?
  18. Well I had no idea Peco sell all the items you need to make a point So does a hand built Peco point look better and cost less? Forget the time !
  19. Are the replacement sleepers and chairs the same as what comes moulded onto the point, so all adjustments are seamless?
  20. No, you've not missed at all, I think you have all the answers I need, thank you :-) I had no idea I could buy sleepers and chairs to match what is there. I think your blade rodding looks awesome and I will copy it! Do you have a close up? Once this lock down is lifted, I'll drive up to Blaenavon preserved Railway and study their points. I can't say I fully understand how to wire for DCC and it will be DCC, so I need to understand. Thanks.
  21. Hi, I have a little project on the go right now, that is to replace these split rails from my O gauge points and replace them with full length rail. I have slipped in the longer length rail from the point just to see how hard it is to flex one rail, and it is fine, only one rail will ever be bent at any one time and the straight rail will help with pulling the bent rail, so I'm sure it will all be fine. I'm also going to be taking resin castings of full sleepers, removing the guff I don't want, fixing the sleepers and making up some more scale like rods etc. So my question is, it seems that all the moving rails are joined by a welded wire, so can I cut off the little plastic separator, butt up the new full rail and solder it to the existing rail that forms part of the frog? By doing this, my new full length rail can't slide down. I want to try and create an O gauge streamline point like the new type 00 gauge points :-) So far, it's looking very doable :-)
  22. Sorry guys, I stand corrected, Card, Laser cut and 3D are good mediums. I'll look into buying those. Thanks for all your help.
  23. Hi, I have a my personal opinions as to why I don't want card, Laser Cut or 3D print. The number one reason why is they all have texture and 'feel' problems in my opinion. I will look into the companies mentioned above, so thank you for that :-)
  24. Hi, Card is also a no no for me, I find it lacks texture and with such a small layout, all detail will be very closely looked at. I'm looking for Plastic or resin cast models. I have been looking for months on the net for plastic or resin, and simply can't find anything other than Skytrex, so I guess there is nothing out there. There is enough range to make something from the Skytrex range, but options are limited.
  25. Hi, Very sorry, I forgot to say, I hate lazer wood and 3D print, I simply will not even look at this type of construction for many reasons I will no go into on a forum. So I'm looking at injection moulded and resin cast 'models'.
