  1. Hi, I'm kinda newish to O Gauge, especially the scale layout side of O Gauge, I've only been historically running in the garden, track only. Now looking to make a small layout on base boards for shows one day. Apart from SkyTrex, I can't find any O gauge buildings (seen Peko Signal box). Are there any other high quality buildings on offer or where can we buy doors, windows etc to scratch build? Thanks.
  2. All good news to hold on for the Dapol ones Thank you.
  3. Edit, I have just found the RMWeb O gauge coach thread, so will keep an eye on that :-) Thanks.
  4. Hello, I am starting to turn my thoughts to a small rake of O gauge coaches. I am looking to buy the new offerings from Dapol or Heljan, but I see that they all still seem to be 'coming' and not here. Somewhere in the past, I have seen some threads and thoughts on the accuracy of both of these brands Mk1's as 'first samples' at shows, one was better than the other in detail. So, does anybody have any thoughts on what brand to put my money on from what has been seen all seen at the shows (I've not been to any shows and will never be). Does anybody have any idea when all the standard Mk1's will finally be for sale? I expect world issues are playing a heavy hand in the hold up! Many thanks.
  5. WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!! Those videos are AMAZING!! That layout plan is exactly what I have in mind and the crossing is a nice touch. The sound is by far the best I've heard thus far! What I mean about the whistles not echoing is simply the sound file was cut short and did not blend out. No whistle on earth gets chopped off to silence right at the end, but the sound files I had heard until now on YT all get chopped off.
  6. Thank you very much guys for all your help. My railway to be will be a very small modern fictional preserved halt type deal, set in what was a GWR area. My rule is nothing to run on the layout unless it's entirely feasible right now. I live very close to the Blaenavon railway (part time member of their modelling group) and it is amazing what has run up there, so I have some options. One thing I have noticed is how bad the sound locos come across on YouTube videos of the 14xx and Panniers, even allowing for personal computer speakers in my device. The exhaust blast always seems chopped of and does not seem to be slightly drawn out when running at very slow speeds, this 'chop off' kills the illusion for me. Also the whistle is normally 'chopped off' as well, so the echo is not there, this really kills the sound. So I guess now that we have established all the models are good, it may come down to what DCC sound is the best with a good realistic beat at slow speed and echo on the whistle? Don't care about the price, I want a quality believable sound, obviously I'll be getting the biggest speaker I can to fit, even if some 'modelling' is need to get it in! Thank you for your help.
  7. Hello, I am right on the edge of buying a small GWR steam loco in O gauge to grow my O gauge mini layout project. I am thinking of a Dapol 14xx or Pannier Tank, I have an auto coach on order, so the model should really be auto fitted (I know it's only detail and not working). Question one, are there any know issues with any of Dapols 14xx or Pannier tanks (ex Lion Heart)? Question two, what one is better, Dapol or ex Lion Heart? I have been offered a 57xx in the colour I want for a good price. Question three, is the 57xx a Lion Heart model or Dapol? Question four, is 57xx auto fitted? Question five, why is the 14xx about £200, some panniers about £200 and the 74xx £350? Sorry for the list, but hopefully you'll be able to see where I' going with these questions. I'm not fixed on what loco I end up with, I just want the best model for quality and auto fitted. Many thanks for any help you can give Rob.
  8. Thank you guys, I'll be going to the Bristol O gauge show later this month, so will hopefully get a chance to see some of these figures 'in person' so to speak.
  9. Thank you for the link. With only 6 figures in the modern range, I guess I'm back where I started with Preiser.
  10. By 'on mass', I just mean generic people doing station things, like waiting, sitting, messing about etc. My layout will be modern day preserved, so I'll want a fair few figures. Otherwise I'll have to model a wet Wednesday morning on a working day, that maybe a little dull ;-) I've had a look at the ModelU sit and to be honest, I can't really work it out. I'll give them a ring soon and ask about O gauge figures. Thanks for the help.
  11. Thanks for the link. Do ModelU make a range of standard 'people' sitting and standing that one could use on mass?
  12. Wow, those Cice figures look amazing. Can't see any way to order or a price list?
  13. Hi, What are my options for good quality o gauge people? Preiser have the quality, but seem old fashioned and hideously expensive in O gauge !! Is there a place I can look at where there is a better balance of cost and quality of sculpt? I'm wanting modern people as I'm looking to build an up to date preserved railway layout. Thanks.
  14. No need to buy parts this time, the loco turned up today in perfect order :-) VERY nice loco. Thanks.
  15. Lol, I'm answering my own questions https://howesmodels.co.uk/product/Heljan-o-class-42-sprue-h-black206/
  16. I don't have the loco yet, but I can't see the steps in the pictures, but there is a full sealed detail pack. Can I buy steps as a part if the loco doesn't have the steps?
  17. Hi, I've just bought a used Class 42 Heljan Warship in O gauge. Can anybody tell me if the 42 is a solid model or does it have anything I should keep an eye on? It would be nice to get some spares now in readyness if needed. Thanks.
  18. You are exactly correct, this is exactly how I got my decoder. I contacted DC kits and they confirmed that the two brown wires were all that was needed to connect the two separate speakers, and the other three are for a stay alive. I did that and everything worked as it should. My new 08 burst into life and all was well :-) Thanks.
  19. Hi, I have been thinking of buying a 61xx for a little time now. Can anybody tell me why Rails are knocking off £300 off the RRP ? Is there something wrong with them or maybe old tooling that is wrong ??? Thanks.
  20. Thanks for the replies. The picture shows exactly what I got from Legomanbiffo, no more, no less. The decoder box says 97418 LokSound V5 21MTC 11x15mm BUT is actually 11x30mm ? What I have does not seem to match up with the replies above.
  21. Hi, I know my way around a model and soldering iron, but I'm totally new to fitting DCC decoders with extra wires and speakers. I have got a Lok-Sound decoder (21 pin with 5 extra wires) with sound and twin speakers ready to fit into an 0 Gauge Dapol 08 (in the post). The box just contains the decoder and a pair of speakers and no instructions. I've been on DC kits site and can't find any instructions. Is there a page somebody could send me to, to see where the wires go, basically how to fit this system? Many thanks.
  22. A slight adjustment of the standard interior after a full drive train tweak! The whole interior was airbrushed with rail match and doors added according to the GW A.E.C Diesel Railcars book, page 88 and 92. The floor is totally the wrong colour and so are the seats, but they were done before I got book :-(
  23. He dropped it at 5.06 on the pliers !! Not only that, what about the 'grabbing' and pulling of the plug with pliers (4.35) or the wrenching of the tender body with screwdriver ? There is a tool for getting the plug out part number X6468 !
  24. That guy on the video has NO idea how to handle or work on a model !!!! I spent most of the time cringing watching this video as he dropped and graunched the model !!! I'm sure the info given is fine, but what a butcher :-0
  25. I was the one who they "apparently" told it should have horns! They 'did' tell me it should have horns, and I can confirm mine didn't have any on the model, and none in the box. Hattons checked their stock and there were none in them either.
