  1. More smashing stuff Mike I particularly like the first shot looking at the station - has to do a double take that it wasn’t a real pic at first How are the extensions bits to make it a roundy roundy coming on?
  2. Cracking stuff Rob - the layout and the pics are superb Look forward to the new emerging plans…
  3. Many thanks to the RAILEX Team for organising a great show - was very pleased to be part of it. The content was easy to navigate and have been dropping in and out of it since Saturday to catch up on different layouts and articles. I recall reading that it will remain viewable until the end of June. I also enjoyed to see the differing styles of video. I had never shot one before so the virtual exhibition gave me the opportunity to swap the modelling chair for a directors chair, learn how to use iMovie and edit something from 30 mins of footage to under 15. Thanks again for (virtually) having KoL at the show Pete
  4. Thanks Mike - nice of you to return the compliments. For Wenford, I have used a thin sheet of mirrored material I found in the studio workshop - less than a millimetre thick. You might be able to experiment with something like this rather than risk your marriage interfering with the wardrobe doors
  5. Absolutely superb Mike. Amazing to think it’s a model When you link with the loft run around assume you will have to remove the mirror?! Amazing modelling and photos too Pete
  6. Indeed! See you at 10:00am Ian
  7. Great project Mark. Nice additions and of course painted and weathered to your usual high standards That photo plank has come in handy during lockdown Pete
  8. Hi all, As we ease ourself into a BH weekend just to let you know that Kyle will be attending the RAILEX virtual show tomorrow Saturday 29th May 2021. The layout was lined up to attend the original show but will appear at a date to be confirmed when some sense of normality returns. Meantime, I was honoured to be asked to be part of the virtual show and details can be found here: http://www.railex.org.uk/index.php On my layout page there will be a selection of Chris Nevard photos in addition to a short video that I shot especially for the show. Look forwards to see you (virtually) there Pete

Blimey Didn’t think to even check that! Am still a 7mm newbie so need time to adjust to things from 2mmFS where that level of detail not so scrutinised! Need to reattach those pesky chains which seemed to have detached from the bogies - jewellers headset required for that…

Snap! I got mine two weeks ago Lovely model indeed…and with sound even better. They did get pretty grubby especially the roof so you can add a bit more all over - best to work from a pic as you say. Tower Models have just got in a new batch of Dapol Mk I’s in blue/grey should you wish something suitable for it to couple up to Stewart. Looks very at home on your superb layout
  11. Lovely stuff Mikkel. Nearly missed it too…one of the problems of not commenting as soon as you read something Love the explanation, experiments and the outcome - right up there with Shell Island Looks fabulous. BTW, the line about the static grass and your receding hair made me laugh a lot
  12. Sorry David Thanks Mikkel - yes already a good model but even better now… Couldn’t agree with you more…not sure my wife agrees Thanks Mark - preparations are under way… Thanks Rich - will have another go later… I have changed the permissions now on YouTube so hopefully you can now access it…let me know if not…
  13. Evening all, Hopefully a productive modelling bank holiday has been had this weekend. Just a quick update to share that my Heljan class 37 arrived last week and it’s been well worth the wait Whilst in reality the loco would never been seen at Wenford it will only make an appearance at home or maybe the last 15 minutes at a show - Rule No.1 A big thanks to Lee Edmondson of Lee’s locos who not only managed to source the 37 late last year (when everywhere else it seemed sold out) but has also numbered it, detailed it, weathered it and installed the sound. The sound is LegomanBiffo and it certainly captures what I remember from these beasts! Lee has done an awesome job working from photos that I sent him and he was a real pleasure to deal with - really helpful too. So the back story is, that it’s actually 37412 primarily for my future 7mm Kyle layout however a few Large Logo class 37’s were transferred down to the West Country 37412 and 37175 being two of them. Hence the interloper… Much fun has been had shuffling the odd wagon around the sidings with it…no complaints from the neighbours yet…but blimey it’s loud Photo - Lee Edmondson Photo - Lee Edmondson Photo - Lee Edmondson Unfortunately I can’t load the other photos I took as they keep coming in upside down Here’s a link to a short video of the start up…hopefully this works! https://youtu.be/3sg3pjg4v1E Cheers, Pete
  14. Only just stumbled upon this thread. Lovely stuff Staying tuned for more...
  15. Thanks for the breakdown on how you constructed the roof Mike - absolutely fascinating As you say it could have been 3D printed, but that would take away a lot of the fun of the build as well as those odd moments where you drop hot solder on yourself Don’t beat yourself up over the front screen either - I think it works really well...
  16. That looks good Rich. I agree, for the width of that module the proportions seem a bit high. It seems to work for all the longer options but perhaps not the smallest one IMO. Good to see this gaining traction again...
  17. Blown away again by this Stunning modelling and photography. The mirror works so well and if you clipped the second photo down it would just take out the loco. Am quite liking the lighting myself - your wife is a tough critique! If that was her only comment then it’s testament to the rest of the modelling as that roof structure is superb. Really liking the detailing including the various shades of grime on the glass and the broken panes. As Mikkel says the shot without even a train in sight is stunning. Look forward to the next instalment...
  18. I missed this first time around Mike. Absolutely stunning work The roof is incredible and really good use of card for the front fascia. Looking forward to see your use of the mirror and lighting prowess to get some amazing shots of this. Staying tuned now it’s on my radar! Very inspirational modelling...
  19. Many thanks Mikkel, Yep I forget how red it was now when I see that picture of it! Ha! I think I fessed up about the mirror myself in previous posts so no need for contracts - I recall it was all done as a hand shake...remember those? Many thanks Rob!... Many thanks also Mike, Am blushing here Kind comments indeed! Must admit, most of my ‘day job’ buildings are very angular so I do enjoy the straight lines! I am hoping to start cracking into the final details soon so it will be ready for exhibitions...remember those!...when we get back to normality...
  20. Sorry to hear this Rich but I agree with you that if you are not happy then it’s better to cut it loose. That was the fate that met Meeth for me and Thurso too. That said, Ogbourne sounds a nice project in its own right and the scene above has the makings of something small and interesting. Staying tuned here
