  1. I missed this first time around Mike. Absolutely stunning work The roof is incredible and really good use of card for the front fascia. Looking forward to see your use of the mirror and lighting prowess to get some amazing shots of this. Staying tuned now it’s on my radar! Very inspirational modelling...
  2. Many thanks Mikkel, Yep I forget how red it was now when I see that picture of it! Ha! I think I fessed up about the mirror myself in previous posts so no need for contracts - I recall it was all done as a hand shake...remember those? Many thanks Rob!... Many thanks also Mike, Am blushing here Kind comments indeed! Must admit, most of my ‘day job’ buildings are very angular so I do enjoy the straight lines! I am hoping to start cracking into the final details soon so it will be ready for exhibitions...remember those!...when we get back to normality...
  3. Sorry to hear this Rich but I agree with you that if you are not happy then it’s better to cut it loose. That was the fate that met Meeth for me and Thurso too. That said, Ogbourne sounds a nice project in its own right and the scene above has the makings of something small and interesting. Staying tuned here
  4. Many thanks Mark. Yes the hoodies are on the list to work on. As for the 37...Rule No.1 that...not for exhibitions but pure home indulgence you understand...in advance of 7mm Kyle...
  5. Thanks Nick - I keep saying but you need to take those green tinted specs off Thanks Kris... Thanks Rich - once normality returns pop back for another play...there might be a sound chipped class 37 in the stock box end of next month...
  6. Many thanks Rich - yes I thing some cunning photography is required to avoid seeing twice the locos...but the buildings and wagons seem to work ok...
  7. Evening all - time for a quick update. Work has been progressing on a number of fronts namely the dries buildings and the rolling stock. Firstly I have been gradually applying water based paints to both the buildings following the grey primer coat. These are being built up and then weathering powders are applied on top. I am working on them ‘offsite’ in a foamboard enclosure to prevent them falling over as before and breaking all the gutters off The first building (the shallower one) has been glued in place and I will continue final weathering including dusting the whole lot down with white powder...a bit of talcum will be rather welcum... The second building still needs a bit more work before I commit to glueing in position. I will then bed them in at the base, add some weeds and grass, creaks in the concrete apron etc. Secondly, I also made a start on some weathering. The 08 had the piston rods painted yellow (hated the red ones!) and it has been renumbered to 08488 which was a regular down at Wenford. Thanks to John Peck of Precision Labels for prepping the transfers for me. I have then applied some first layers of weathering powders and some black paint. Whilst not finished, it’s amazing the difference it makes now to a spot of shunting at the dries. I have also made a start on the Skytrex van using some weathering powders. Again, taking the edge off these out of the box models really makes a difference. Underframe will be next and also trying to tone down the Skytrex hoodies which are a tad plasticy. Next on the list is to start applying some paint to the Slaters BV kit. Attached are a few photos from various view points. I am experimenting with making a few short videos and editing them in iMovies. Once done I will upload a few. Overall shot... Starting to add colour and staining... Dapol renumbered 08488 (note out of the box Skytrex van in background) Skytrex van with some powders on the body... Van is deposited in the short spur... Clearance is just enough for a China clay wagon or the van... Need to bed the buildings in and finish weathering... Van awaiting unloading... Shuffling some China clay wagons around... Need to try and lose the plasticy nature of the wagons... Ready to depart from Wenford... That’s all for now...as always comments welcome... Pete
  8. Dipped in and out of this over the weekend and bought the show guide. Some fab layouts and content. Many thanks to everyone involved in organising the show

Loving that LL 37/4 Got one heading my way next month too... Look forward to see this era on this superb layout. Bring on the blue/grey stock!
  10. R’eely good Mikkel Another fab story and well told - loved the props at the start and the way you created the scene. Fab modelling and superb photography too The final line on that old letter is class
  11. Well done on getting to track test stage Rich. It seems a large (albeit mighty impressive) bit of kit relative to the size of the baseboards...might be worth checking the competition rules as Meeth was originally planned for the DJLC... Hence why I am still a wire in tube fan
  12. David, You can avoid soldering the two wires to make a dropper by extending the loop down to form the dropper. My soldering iron skills are shocking but this is how I did all mine on my 2FS Kyle of Lochalsh layout. Pete
  13. Am really sad to read this too. My first memory of Thunders Hill was seeing it in an old Model Railway Constructor Annual but was lucky enough to see it in person at one of the Burgess Hill Model Railway shows one year. Peter would attend and bring a different layout bi-annually to the show and he was always so kind, friendly and easy to talk to. I especially liked his BR blue layouts and would always leave the exhibition thinking ‘maybe I should move up a scale from 2mmFS to 3mm’... Very inspirational modelling and lovely bloke. RIP Peter and my condolences to his family.
  14. Watching with interest...
  15. No please don’t stop David - your workbench and layout are hugely inspirational That’s why I come on here, to be inspired by other’s layouts and models...especially more now so during lockdown... Thank you
  16. Thanks Marc - you will Sir don’t worry I may or maybe not have placed a pre order for a new Heljan 26 and 27 in a moment of madness last week
  17. Yes you could always work more colour and variety in using powders on top...
  18. That’l be handy to finish off the top of your creme brûlée’s too...
  19. Just stumbled upon this thread - cracking modelling Hope to see it on the circuit once we get through this current predicament
  20. Nice project Mark. Are you keeping it or will you pass on to your friend?
  21. Hi Chris - Thanks for this. That sounds way more than my electrical prowess The main problem I had was actually trying to get the track pick ups/wipers to sit right against the wheels without interrupting running qualities...
