  1. I don't feel that a discussion concerning if this project is profitable or not is "Crass" it's merely a reflection of the vested interest we have as modelers/ collectors to see it succeed. Jason and Rapido need to make a profit to encourage them to carry on with further British models;it as simple as that! I wish them well and have put my money where my keyboard is for a sound version, which i look forward to receiving at some point in the future. I welcome a new manufacturer in to the British market as it will keep the big 2 on their toes. B
  2. Hi Sandra I've paid the balance for my sound version but not in a rush so when you can drop me a line to let me know whats happening with my order Ta ON a side note has this project been a commercial success or not? I recently read an piece in rail express ( I think) stating that crowd sourcing for models seem to have reached it's limit with a lot of project failing to break even and as a result this may lead to less projects like this one in the future. I hope not as i suspect that we wouldn't have seen an APT at all from the major manufacturers ever! Brenn
  3. Good point as its the first non tube line to be named i think. B
  4. The Liz line is a great name....whats wrong with you people besides she has saved me from President Thatcher and Blair so deserves aircraft carriers, trains, tube line....everything and anything named in her glory!!! B
  5. It seems to me that Dapol are taking a punt with their pricing of the 08 and will hope that the price point gives massive volume in sales. I wouldn't mind an O Gauge loco even just for display, however at £500 a pop before any sound detailing etc I don't think they are worth that amount of money given modern manufacturing processes. Heljan have just scaled up the OO 05 as they have done with the 26 if they want to build a larger volume of sale and with it turnover/profit then a price point nearer £250-300 for mainline loco would possibly hook many more people to convert/collect O Gauge and generate a bigger market base to develop future projects for. B
  6. Agree Bob....I have learnt over the years to wait while the first batch to arrive of any model is reviewed by folks on here. The £100 + price point having being breached means that in my mind i want things to be right and not have the hassle of sending back (at cost to me) locos. I'm happy to support manufactures like Dapol with my pound but, these are not marketed as railroad type locos. I have a number of locos (Heljan black wheels/class 17 et,al.) that i wished i'd waited for but have missed out on some (HST @£107) by waiting. I have broken this stance with the up coming APT by ordering the full Monty sound version but I think the tread toward crowd sourcing will compel people to order without the luxury of waiting to make sure the product is good enough for the price. B
  7. Someone has to make the Class 47 to these standards......is Bachmann going to announce one in March?? if not Gentleman you should as it will be a sure winner judging by the comments of these locos on here and in the press. Everybody seems to love them! I haven't bought one but would if a weathered work horse in tops blue is produced as you can only have so many 24/25s (3&8 respectivley) Brenn
  8. its east London between Whitechapel and Bow road on the district line of the tube and the Fenchurch street line i think something to do with the NLR route in to the docks B
  9. I download Win 10.....the normal problems with major downloads ensued. It wiped out my routers Wifi (virgin) and has problems with the Ethernet divers which keeps cutting off the internet:( It has seriously slowed my computer but I'm still trying to figure out what this app thing is all about and find it easier to still view in IE, but I find MS is normally good after the patches follow. 10. wont the baby deltic project allow a true recording of the sound soon? B
  11. Was there not one near King cross just below the north London line at Camden road? Brenn
  12. What do you mean???? I'm not across the manufacturing issues of producing models....but are you hinting the cost issues will prompt manufacturing to return to Europe? Brenn

    Dapol Class 22

Thanks for that, but where do I get your number? I'd followed the development of this and other Dapol products on this forum and have always been impressed with the way you have engaged with your customers, which may not always be easy judging from some of the posts I've read. I must admit to be a bit disappointed at the problems with the loco; however it really looks a quality product, although the shade (Yellow and Blue) of the paint doesn’t look quite right to me. This is probably because I’m used to the Bachmann/Heljan paint finish. Having said that I think Dapols finish of the BR Blue scheme forms a great base for a work weary faded weathered look which most of these locos had. I intended to convert the loco into a TOPS numbered, domino dot loco as I done with all my locos. £125 is the most I’ve paid for a non-sound fitted diesel loco in OO but I think that I can see the value in this model and the design standards should bodes well for the Class21/29, Westerns which would also attract my modelling pound. I hope I’ve just been unlucky with a rouge model which has not been unknown with Bachmann and Hornby models I have purchased, including sound fitted models. I must say that I find the Dapol team the most approachable and friendly of the manufacturers at the exhibitions that I have attended and if this is the level of customer service I can expect from Dapol I look forward to buying more products from Dapol In the future. Dapol Class 22

Thanks Flood Yep thats just what I dont want to do with a £125 loco! I don't really want the hassle of sending it back to the supplier as I brought it from them at Ally Pally and don't have the reciept readly available. when brought the loco the box was still in the tissue wrap, so I thought all would be ok, but when I got in out of the box the body wasn't seated properly and just came away. I thought I would be able to simply refit it. I have just tried to refit the body. It won't fit with out surgery so I think it best if It goes back. I hope this is a one off and not I can expect from Dapol... Mike

    Dapol Class 22

Hi all, some advise need PLS. 1. I just got a BR blue (1000B) at Ally Pally which came with the front glazing loose in the cab. It looks like the cab is glued in place any advise how to remove the cab to fix the glazing. 2I'm not clear as to how to fit the headcodes is this done by removing the cab to seat the headcodes? Thanks Mike
