  1. Thanks, heard mixed things about reliability in regards to the Mashima 15s, granted these were mostly from threads before Mashima even ceased operation. If space wasn't an issue I would've already gotten a 1020, but the particular kit I'm using I've only seen it(1020) fitted to drive the rear wheels, I want it to drive the front set etc etc. Think I'm beginning to lean more towards the HLs simply cause even with US shipping, they're less than the Mashima 1015 I know I can get, if only by a small amount
  2. So I'm looking to get a motor for my Furness K2, I can get a Mashima 1015 but apparently the 1020s are overall better motors? Any body have experience with either one? Similarly, I'm considering the High Levels kits 1015 or 1020 iron cores but I'm not entirely sure on their performance or how they perform compared to the mashimas they were designed to replace, so if any one can chime in on that?
  3. Hi all, looking to place an order for a mashima 1015 motor as they have it in stock at a reasonable price and with decent US shipping, buut the latest update as i can tell was prior to march 2021. Anyone know if they're still trading? If not, any good places to get a 1015 motor or suitable compact alternative?
  4. So has there been any word from Hornby on whether they'll make Autumn? Or are these looking like they're gonna be pushed back again?
  5. Hi all, I'm just trying to find a suitable motor and gearbox for the 4-4-0 I'm building, a OO Furness Railway K2. Been looking around a bit but not entirely sure of what would be my best options, though I do want it to be somewhat compact. Any suggestions or recommendations?
  6. Out of curiosity, what's the current expected release date for the W1s(namely the Garter Blue)? Hattons and Kernow say June right now.
  7. Admittedly my solution has been to just reuse the original motion brackets lol
  8. Just had mine canceled, well over a year since these went up for pre-order meaning getting a Garter Blue one is gonna be near impossible now. Thanks Hattons.
  9. Aye, I except Daisy and Peter Sam updates, along with ones on the NG brakes. Otherwise they're caught up besides the stock that was just announced and clearly only has recently begun development, ie, Ryan and Toby. We've seen LS Diesel all painted up and the new LS Paxton model is in the catalog and was shown off in Saturday's stream, so that just leaves the announcements from mid-2019 and the brake vans.
  10. So the new TTTE items from Bachmann for this year were leaked today, confirmed by checking TrainWorld's website where all items are listed with their estimated retail price and product codes. The leak was then confirmed by Bachmann via their twitter page, and more info will come tomorrow in the stream they're taking part in. Now clearly, the leaked items were meant to revealed tomorrow but oh well. The new items for this year are: HO(OO): -Ryan -Toby's Museum Coach -Toby's Museum Brake Coach NG(009): -Yellow Rheneas -Red & Blue Brakevans* -Red & Blue Box vans *announced last year UPDATE: Bachmann have officially announced the rest of the items as I was typing this up. In addition to the previous ones: N Scale: -Toby -S.C.Ruffey Large Scale: -Paxton -Mining wagon w/ load (blue) -Sodor Coal Co. wagon w/ load -Sodor Coal Co. wagon
  11. Yeah, but otherwise I would expect the dimensions and proportions to mostly match up with Edward Thomas bar a couple suspiciously replicable areas , I mean we'll hopefully find out next month, what with a dedicated TTTE stream by Bachmann on the 18th.
  12. Bachmann's general method has been essentially make the actual prototype bar some notable, but easy to rectify with support, areas. So the cylinders and chonky crosshead on Skarloey and the funnel and cab on Rheneas. Rusty is an exception for the same reason as to why the show didn't make his CGI model closer to Midlander, cause Midlander was rebuilt so it was based off the, well, terrible large scale model, same thing with Bachmann except for the CGI model, though they were able to make the chassis accurate considering that hasn't changed on Midlander. Now Peter Sam is gonna be toss up, more than likely we'll get a repeat of Skarloey and Rheneas, which is ideal, so overall we're looking at accurate dimensions, chassis(minus valve gear), BUT as you said, there's the block under the tank. Now Bachmann can get away with a fair bit but they can't exactly remove something THAT noticeable, and in a way, works for them cause it makes the mechanism easier to design. Really it's just a matter of waiting to see the EP or final prototype, which should hopefully be next month. Similarly, curious to see if one of the upcoming brake van's in the range is based off TR Brake 5 given what happened with the coaches.
  13. I would add on that Bachmann's NG TTTE range offers 2 fairly excellent models in Skarloey and Rheneas. Both pretty accurate to their respective prototypes as is(and even closer with the addition of the Narrow Planet kits), and even Rusty(though far from Midlander) is decent bashing material for a large Ruston-esque diesel.
  14. So based on your above reply, I assume you scratch built the chassis for this? I mainly ask cause I'm curious whether you made the motion or where you sourced it from?
  15. Thank you, good to know there's at least hope for it to be revived.
  16. Sorry to dig up a 5 year old thread, but out of curiosity, what ever happened to the likes of the MM7 Corris No.4 kit?
  17. I definitely think it's time for Hornby to finally take advantage of the design clever tooling the P2 has. The later and rebuilt P2s I do think are in enough demand to warrant it.
  18. It's already been touched upon, but I'm kind of hoping they do an S160. I think there's enough demand for one to justify making them, and the Bachmann S100s have been quite popular. Otherwise, hoping this is the year we finally get preservation IEG Stepney ;).
  19. Aye. I mean either way, I'm excited. The 3D model looks fantastic, the early prototypes were already fantastic runners and from what I've read Kato still wasn't happy, so I can only imagine the running quality.
  20. I know a few friends of mine are hoping for a full GER blue one. Be lying if I said I wouldn't pick one up if they made one, very happy with my LNER one(though it isn't LNER anymore), and I believe it was one of the initial variants announced?
  21. Well yes obviously . I meant it's been rather quiet on both Peco and Kato's ends on any real sort of update, like verbal update. And we got the full renders and announcement for early next year, I figure the EPs should follow in the next few months given this.
  22. What Phil said, there was a lawsuit between HiT and Bachmann over the reuse of the Thomas and Percy toolings. I mean, ended with a win, very nice little DCC ready 0-6-0 chassis out of the whole thing. Also, from Chaz from the Bachmann Forums, has given permission for me to share these comparisons between the older, Tomix engines and the released Bachmann ones. Hopefully this is allowed. Now these are the original Tomix ones, not the slightly updated ones that came out some years ago, but this is pretty much to show the massive differences in detailing and scale between the 2. The Tomix ones were scaled to Japan's N scale, but they're even larger than that tbh, while the Bachmann ones are done to the UK standard, as has been said before.
