  1. Please Please can we have some Blue/Grey Mk2f SO.
  2. But that would likely impact sales of their newer more expensive models, and in the case of the 47 is already served by Hornby. It strikes me Hornby only produce Railroad versions because they either don't want or carn't afford to put the investment into decent high quality models. In the case of the 47 probably not a wise investment for Hornby anyway as its already well served by Bachmann and Heljen.
  3. Well my removable nose plain Blue 37 arrived today the removable nose not being an issue as far as I'm concerned in this colour scheme. It looks and sounds great and hopefully it won't be too fragile unlike the Accurascale 55's which frankly are driving me nuts with both the chains and the nose steps in particular, and the reason why I went for a Bachmann 37. Of course it does have chains like the Deltic and that does concern me somewhat but the arrangement looks better than the Deltic at least. Yes I know the Accurascale 37 will have a different chain arrangement but I just think Bachmann likely have more experience of what works and what doesn't, anyway very happy with it so far.
  4. So A Sound Decoder arrived today tried with the built in speakers sounds OK but a bit quiet, I do have an accurathrash speaker which I loosely connected does sound louder that's for sure, but I am very reluctant to remove the body because of the chains 1 has already detached and looks fiddly to put back and I don't fancy doing the other 3. What I am thinking is I have other speaker which will just about slide under the roof in the available space I may try that. Anyway if I buy another Deltic in future it will be a sound version and yes I know they are going to change the chains on any future version.
  5. So today I received 47 435 no doubt a really lovely model but at nearly £300 it is very expensive and that's just the sound model not the deluxe version. The photo shows it alongside my 30 year old Lima model, I'm not going to put any of the detailing pack on yet. I don't think the lima model stands up too badly really always seemed like one of Lima's better models. Originally I wasn't going to buy it but then I thought it may be a while before there is another 47/4 in the colours suitable for my modelling period. I dont know exactly when I bought my Lima 47 but it must be around 30 years ago, the one thing you can say about the Lima model is you can easily handle it without fear of bits falling off. The original price is on the Lima box and doing an inflation calculator suggests that todays price should be around £85 to £100 which would make the price of Hornby's Railroad 47 seem about right. So without sound the Bachmann model is around twice as much, Is it worth that well I guess so, but I have spent nearly £800 on 3 Bachmann Loco's with sound recently which does make it a very expensive hobby if you want the bells and whistle's of good detail, lighting and sound. I had a brief play on the limited test track I have currently, first loco I have where you can turn the rear lights off independently which is good, the loco's sounds good when accelerating away, but not entirely convinced it sounds fully right on tick over I will have to have another listen.
  6. Indeed lets hope so, my chosen retailer is still showing as Pre-order but hopefully that will change very quickly.
  7. Well I'm eagerly awaiting my Plain Blue 37 but I'm getting the impression its arrival could be slipping now saying October/November I'm sure it was originally September/October I hope it doesn't end up like 47 435 which took forever.
  8. Some very good assessments of the new model, its fair to say I wont be replacing my recent sound fitted Bachmann 45/0 at present, and I'm not sure I can be tempted by a 45/1 at present I have higher priorities. Overall it does look a very nice model though, I presume like other Heljen Loco's it come's with the front pipework fitted and you have to remove some to fit a standard coupling. I find that slightly annoying. As far as the Blue goes certainly If it's like the Blue on my Heljen 25 I like it better than the Bachmann 45 as matches my old Lima Blue loco's better than Bachmann Blue, even if Bachmann Blue is probably more accurate
  9. Once the custom's issue is sorted are any available for purchase or are they all sold out?
  10. I keep debating whether or not to buy 47 435 to replace one of my old Lima 47's but however much it may be a detailed improvement on the old Lima model the eth cable as a user add on, bit of a distinct minus for me. Actually I have a Lima 47 parked at the side of an Accurascale Deltic and don't think it looks too bad, the Lima model may lack detail but it captures the look of a 47 fairly well so I think I might save my money.
  11. At present I'm still happy with my choice of Bachmann 37 I doubt the removable nose will be a noticeable issue on the plain blue version I have ordered. If Accurascale announce a second run of Deltic's at some point which incorporate some of the lessons learned, then at least some or all of my existing Deltic's will be going on ebay.

    EBay madness

Looking for some Bachmann Blue/Grey MK1's a few weeks back either SO or SK there were the usual inflated ebay prices although not as bad as MK2 SO prices in Blue/Grey. Anyway I decided to to have a good look around the websites of some of the smaller model shops, in this case it really paid off and I managed to obtain 3 new Bachmann SK for a much better price than the ones on ebay. The only down side is the time taken to search around some of the websites of the smaller model shops are frankly awful and you have to scratch your head to navigate around some of them, mind the same can be said for one of the more well known model shops in my view which as a result doesn't get my business, but anyway certainly may be worth a look before resorting to ebay.
  13. No not really I'm quite happy with my choice, yes the AS Deltic is a lovely detailed model but may be a bit too fragile for my liking, for the version I want the Bachmann version should be available earlier, and when I pre ordered it a couple of weeks ago, I want a sound version and the AS 37 version appeared to be sold out on both the Accurascale website and Rails website, although its now showing available again on the Rails website which perhaps suggests some people may have changed their pre orders as a result of the Bachmann version being announced.
  14. But doesn't the latest Bachmann 45 already have improvements over previous versions, including showing the missing hinges and latches on earlier versions for the nose side grills, I think the roof fan area is better as well. I can see them doing a 46 and 45/1 based on the existing model, although that would of course require mods to the bodyshell.
  15. So yesturday I was fixing 55002 in final year livery, when I received it the eth cable had come off along with a lamp iron and one of the steps at the nose was broken. On refection I should have asked Rails for a replacement, but anyway have tried to fix it which I have mostly done and it looks fine. The only issue is the Lamp Iron which I couldn't find in the packaging, I contacted Accurascale and they sent me another which I received on Friday, the only snag is the Yellow doesn't match at all, it appears to be about the same as Railmatch yellow that I have, which frankly is nothing like the yellow used on 55002 or many of the BR Blue Bachmann models I have for that matter, any suggestions for a better yellow color match?
  16. After the experience of the Accurascale Deltics, apart from bits falling off on one of them, the bogie chains are just plain badly thought out in my view, hence I have ordered the plain Blue Bachmann even though its a bit more expensive.
  17. Yes we need some more Mk2 Aircon Open Seconds in Blue/Grey silly prices on ebay for all versions eg Airfix/Hornby/Bachmann. Have ordered 37 034 the sound version, the deluxe model is stretching it a bit price wise so I can live with the standard version. I would like to have seen a plain blue version of the 101 with 1st class the previous version that I think Bachmann did was a Newcastle based set where 1st was desclassified, as they got rid of 1st there much earlier than a lot of local services in other areas.
  18. Perhaps but I will see if Bachmann offer a version suitable for my layout, I'm not as wild about Accurascale as some people on here, and possibly prefer a bit of robustness at the expense of a bit of detail, but I guess having more choice is no bad thing.
  19. The Accurascale versions that would be suitable for my layout are sold out anyway, so if there is a suitable Bachmann 37/0 I will be buying that, and looking at the photo's I'm very tempted to buy 37 430 even though its not really suitable for my layout. After my experience with the Deltic's and a few bits falling off given a choice between the two I'm more inclined to go for the Bachmann.
  20. I'm not sure that's an entirely fair comment yes there are a few which seem to have gone overboard with the numbers they have bought but I guess its their money. I don't like pre ordering but there didn't seem to be much option with this model, so I ordered 2 as a massive Deltic fan and won't be selling those anytime soon. However there was a short opportunity for those that didn't pre order to buy those that became spare on the website, where In opted to buy a third Deltic, and yes looking at ebay prices at the moment I may choose to sell that one if I can make money on it as will fund other models for my layout.
  21. I will throw a couple of suggestions in RSG in late 90's preserved green, obviously it worked a number of Virgin XC services at that time so you could model it with both Virgin and Intercity liveried MK2's, and of course would be a match for the purple one. RSG in late plain blue livery rather than the Railtour bling of the current version, RSG was unique in surviving to the end of service without the plated over headcode so I would predict high demand for that. Finally my own personal choice 013 in late Blue livery.
  22. Blimey I've just seen the latest bid price for 55 005 on ebay and at that kind of price I might be tempted to sell one of mine, although the one I might sell is DCC ready not fitted sound, I expect the sound fitted ones will be the most popular with the best markup.
  23. So now taken delivery of my 3 and a couple of days to have a good look at them, 11 and 15 were fine 002 had some issues which Accurascale have said they will sort. I wish I had got sound sound models now as I am very reluctant to remove the fragile body, I already have a SWD Loksound 5 decoder for one of them, which I tried yesterday at least you can fit decoder without removing the body, It doesn't seem to operate the lights entirely correctly but its only the tail lights which I'm not too bothered about, the sound through the built in Sugar Cube speakers on the DCC ready model seems to be frankly rubbish and I am now thinking if I can get a better speaker in the roof recess without having to remove the body. As far as the body goes I think the chains to the bogie would have been better left off and possibly making them an optional customer fit in the detailing pack, the ladders at the nose end look extremely easy to break, again I think they would be better left off or making them a customer fit in the detailing pack.
  24. Ok so having been sceptical about this model I admit it I've just bought another one 55 011 😆 anyone who wants one will have to be quick as the remaining ones will be gone very quickly by the looks of it.
  25. Mine is due from rails tomorrow meanwhile Tulyar from Locomotion has just arrived and I have to admit it looks amazing and I can not find any fault with it either the paint work of bits falling off. It is fantastic but still have concerns about the durability as an RTR model in fact I was scared to take it out of the packaging it will need very careful handling.
