  1. I’ve used BCL Electrics/Brimal Components for switches: https://www.bclstore.co.uk/shop?Category=Switches I’ve had no issues with the ones I use, but I’ve not bought the sub-miniature ones.
  2. Out of interest, do directional lights work on the DTCL? Am thinking of purchasing this set now I know a coupling can be fitted to the front of the DTCL and a couple of retailers are selling them discounted.
  3. I have a DBSO and run it on analogue using a Gaugemaster controller. I’ve not experienced the problems you’ve encountered. My only issue was the flickering interior lighting, which I’ve solved by covering the LEDs with black insulation tape (I didn’t buy it for the interior lighting!). They really could do with having a stay alive capacitor fitted for those who run them on analogue.
  4. I don’t know if this will help, but I’ve used these switches for points located in a tunnel. https://www.bclstore.co.uk/product-page/coil-point-motor-switch-with-indicator-mimic-display
  5. Is the kettle not pulling something (a tender), and therefore a train? 😉 I agree, though. I find it annoying when a single locomotive is called a train.
  6. Indeed. Bachmann had these on display along with the Twin Pack announced recently on display at Model Rail Scotland. They look good!
  7. I use one of those plastic tension lock uncouplers!
  8. My next project for my OO layout is to ballast the track, and have decided to use a mixture of OO and N scale ballast. My method of binding it I intend to use is the traditional teaspoon water/IPA. I would like thoughts on what the best ballasting material to use. I have come across the usual granite chippings, but have obtained another kind (Carr’s) that’s described as “manufactured from a light non stone material”. But it doesn’t actually say what it is. Has anyone used non stone material for ballast and been happy with the result? I also want to use something that will last cosmetically and have read somewhere that granite chippings will turn a greenish colour over time if using a water/PVA/washing-up liquid mix to bind it. Does this depend on the quality of the granite chippings used, or would using an alternative loosening agent (such as IPA or methylated spirit) prevent this? Advice and suggestions welcome!
  9. I‘ve seen a picture of DRS 37/4 with a 5 wagon Network Rail autoballaster set in 2013.
  10. Parts 24, 25, 26, 27, 67 and 68 according to Heljan‘s V3 part sheet for the refurbished Class 26. I purchased a non-runner model without the fuel tank and air tanks cradle thinking it would be easy to find and fit the missing bit. Gaugemaster and eBay only have the fuel tank/water tank (from the V1 and V2 parts sheet) for the unrefurbished version available.
  11. I believe that to be the case too. 13424 was the FK and 5146/52/53/76/97 were the TSOs.
  12. Bit annoyed with Bachmann releasing the double Mk2 TSO coach pack in BR Scotrail. I’ve had the Mk2 TSO and FK in Scotrail on pre-order for 4 years now. If Bachmann can produce the double pack now, could it not produce the previously announced ones too!?
  13. To be fair, the one on eBay was listed and bid on before Accurascale announced the second run. I bet the current winning bidder, after kicking oneself, will either retract his/her bid or simply not pay.
  14. My two Deltics had similar intermittent running issues soon after delivery in the summer. They went back for repair. One of them has now started to have problems again, which I find strange. Does anyone know if motor issues can develop again after being repaired? I’ve read on the Bachmann forum that some people have encountered problems with a “tight” motor. I’ve never experienced this before in any loco I’ve bought until my two Accurascale Deltics. Is it more common than my experience suggests?
  15. For a time (1999-2000) this particular unit had one car with the grey roof at the front and the other, full yellow. Would be nice if Hornby produced it like that!!
  16. Judging by the price and the couplings in the picture, it’s the full detail one.
  17. It’s also odd that the Network Rail 101 is classed by Hornby as Railroad Plus and the Strathclyde PTE 101 is just a Railroad item. Both are the same price. Does anyone know how Hornby classify Railroad and Railroad Plus?
  18. Just found this while looking for a solution to my DBSO’s light flicker. I too run DC and would like to stop my DBSO’s lights flickering. Can you tell me what stay alive capacitor you used and how you fitted it?
  19. I’d still buy one if it had under scale wheels. Would have to be 37402 in large logo with Oor Wullie nameplates though. Hint hint.
  20. I tried to have a minimum of R3 curves on my layout, but due to space had to include R2 points (Hornby standard and Peco Setrack). N gauge is too small for my liking. Would have been an awful shame if I had to miss out on the best model Deltic ever just because I have R2 curves! I would also miss out on what will probably be the best model 37 ever when Accurascale release the large logo mid 80s 37/4 that I’m patiently waiting for since the 37s were announced a couple of years ago. As someone else has written elsewhere, modelling is all about compromises. Under scale wheels on a fantastic Deltic is not something I notice, even now I know that they’re not the right size.
  21. Has anyone tried fitting the buffer beam detail while still using tension lock couplings? If so, how much of the detail can be added without interfering with the coupling?
  22. Rainbow Railways have 3 versions of Deltics on sale. £185 for DCC Ready.
  23. 37/8s are heavyweights, but ex centre headcode box as opposed to the ex split headcode box 37/7s.
  24. 20 and 21 got them from new, introduced in February and March 1962 respectively. They, along with 19, also had roof mounted horns when delivered.
