  1. Panic over, I've sussed how to re-map the sounds to the correct function keys. At last, I have a couple of re-loaded decoders, now to trawl through the rest! Thanks very much for all your assistance, much appreciated. Cheers.
  2. Well, thanks to your help, I've managed to download a 'new' Sound File to one of my locos. However, I now have another query!! All the expected Sounds & Functions are present with the correct Sound Slots - BUT - I need to re-map some of the Sounds to the correct Function Buttons. The LokProgrammer Manual is not very clear on how to do this. Yet again, can you advise, please??
  3. I've already purchased and using a LokProgrammer and found it very useful. I also successfully downloaded & installed a 'new' Sound File (purchased from Wickness) onto the V5 decoder in a Class 42 loco., so I am confident about this side of the process. The Sound File is 'locked' to that specific decoder and cannot be used elsewhere. My concern is that the decoders that I wish to update all have 'locked' Sound Files currently installed and I'm not sure what effect installing what (is in essence) an 'unlocked' Sound File would have on the decoder and if it is possible at all to install such a file. I will attempt to install one of the files on one of my locked decoders and see what happens!!!!
  4. Can anyone advise on the procedure on how to replace the sound file on a V5 decoder with one downloaded from the E.S.U. website? Some of my decoders mhave very basic/generic sound files currently installed and I would like to replace them with those offered on the E.S.U. website but do not want to end up with a 'dead' decoder!!!!
  5. Has anyone had any issues with ordering a Sound Project from Wickness Models? I ordered a Sound Project Download (Class 42) from this business (30/01/24), received an e-mail (31/01/24) informing me that the order had been received and was being processed. I then received another e-mail the same day containing the Invoice for this order. Another e-mail arrived (02/02/24) informing the the order was complete. The cost of the oder (£30.00) was taken from my bank account between 30/01/24 & 02/02/24. I have not received the download, therefore I cannot re-programme the decoder. I expected that an e-mail would be sent with an attachment (file) containing the download - NONE of the three e-mails had such an attachment. I contacted Wickness Models by e-mail stating this fact; I received a reply stating an e-mail would be re-sent (I assume with an attachment) - this has not happened. I have also telephoned the business, was put through to answering machine and left a message. I am STILL waiting for a reply. As a footnote, in the Invoice e-mail, the particular details of the Sound Project were highlighted as a link but when selecting this link all that happened was that I was directed to the company website Order Page as if to re-order the item!!!
  6. I did chnage CV2 to '001', not realising that this would affect the Chuff Rate. One option open is to do a 'factory reset' (CV8 - 008) and re-configure the required C.V.s, leaving CV2 at its original value.
  7. I have encountered an odd problem when modifying the configuration C.V.s on LokSound V5 decoders. I change the following C.V.s to these values: CV27 - 000; CV29 - 026; CV47 - 001; CV49 - 017; CV50 - 000; CV124 - 036 The result is that when I start a steam locomotive, the Chuff Rate is absolutely 'mad' and attempting to synchronise the Chuff Rate C.V.s (CV57, CV58 & CV249) has very little effect. Reconfiguring similar C.V.s on Zimo decoders does not cause any such issues. Can anyone offer a reason why this happens?
  8. Can anyone recommend a 'kit builder' who could construct coach kits for me? I'm not very good at the finishing stage and would prefer a professional finish. I would supply the kits, if required. Also, does anyone know where I might be able to source Caledonian Railway & Midland Railway (NOT L.M.S.!!!) 00 gauge coaches?
  9. Using a LokProgrammer, is it possible to re-configure a LokPilot Basic (or Standard) decoder to a LokPilot V4 (or even V5) decoder?? If so, what would be the procedure?
  10. I contacted Roads & Rails and they suggested that I send the decoder to them to see if they could fix it. Just received a reply from Richard (@ Roads & Rails) saying that he has managed to reset the decoder and got it working again!! The sound file needs to be re-loaded and they'll send it back once that's done. £33 for repair as opposed to £95 for a new decoder - I am very happy. Thanks to everybody for your assistance - much appreciated.
  11. Steve, I appreciate your offer to have a look at it for me. I could post it to you if you could pass on your address (e-mail: stujgow@hotmail.com), I have suitable packaging for it to go by post.
  12. So far, things are on the up! I changed CV29 to 18 on the Class 8F (V5) & Class 40 (V4) and, lo & behold, I was able to re-address BOTH locomotives. The Class 8F & Class 40 are now fully operational - movement & sound. Thanks to all for your help so far. However, I have now encountered an additional problem with the other V5 in that I can neither read nor write to any C.V.s. I have removed the decoder from the locomotive and checked it on a Decoder Tester (D.M.G. Technical) - this tester has worked before on all the various decoders that I employ in my locos. When the decoder is attached to the tester with it connected to the Test (Programme) Track source I notice that the F3 & F4 L.E.D.s are on all the time, except when there is communication between the Controller and the Tester - is this just a function of the tester or something else??
  13. I've double-checked the settings for the following C.V.s: CV15 & 16 = 0 on all three decoders CV29 = 31 on the DP1 & 8F decoders CV29 = 12 on the Class 40 decoder I have tried writing the new address directly to CV1 but this makes no difference either on all three decoders. I am using a Bachmann Dynamis Controller at the moment; however I have a Hornby Elite/Railmaster as back-up - I will try using this just in case there is an issue with the Dynamis system. My other options are to send the decoders away for 're-blowing' (and hopefully re-addressed to my chosen numbers), or new decoders (which is definitely a last resort!!).
  14. I have been re-addressing all of my locomotives (Steam, Diesel & D.M.U.) and have done just over 100 with no problems. The decoders include Hornby R8249, Hornby T.T.S. (various models), E.S.U. (LokPilot, LokSound V4 & V5), Hattons, Uhlenbrock, Zimo (various models) Soundtraxx etc.) - all fine except for three E.S.U. LokSound decoders. These three are fitted to a Bachmann Class 40 (factory-fitted), a Bachmann (N.R.M.) DP1 (factory-fitted) & a Hornby Class 8F (retro-fitted). I can read all C.V. values correctly, but when I try to re-address these locomotives, the decoders seem to accept the change but do not respond to the new address, they only respond to the 'old' (previous) address; i.e change from address 78 to address 77, loco. will respond to address 78 despite the decoder appearing to accept the change. I have tried to reset the decoders, CV8 = 8, but the address does not revert to address 3. I have full sound & motion with the 'old' addresses and E.S.U. decoders in other locomotives have not been a problem. I have even confirmed that CV 19 = 0, plus other suggested checks. Can anyone shed light on what is going on, please?
