  1. How about ‘ RBcheatclones’
  2. Four examples from Barcelona, Silverstone, Portimao - all avoiding the fencing.
  3. And that sums up the problem with street circuits - extremely limited views at very high prices. Virtually anywhere you stand, you will be stuck behind fencing and maybe able to see 50m either side of your position. I find a similar thing with Silverstone - unless you have sold a kidney for a grandstand seat, the fencing is very intrusive. Contrast that with Barcelona, Jerez, Portimao and Brands Hatch for example.
  4. True. I’ve just repaired the same fault on both ends of a 122.
  5. Well they did have the Birmingham Superprix for F3000 - that was cr#p as well.
  6. Not really surprised as all team and F1 merchandising is strictly licensed and not given out to any old outlet. My last visit was 2020 at the start of covid and the main streets were adorned with flags and banners for F1 - and that was just for testing. It was the same in Portimao in 2021, plenty of flags advertising the race but nothing to buy unless you were at the track.
  7. I have been a regular attendee at both racing and testing at the Circuit de Catalunya since 1995. It is easy and relatively inexpensive to get to - for example a week in March for testing cost less for flights, hotels, car hire and tickets than a weekend ticket for the Silverstone GP weekend. It’s also a fantastic circuit for viewing with virtually unrestricted views of at least half of the circuit at any one time. But F1 and the FIA have been desperate to take the race away from Barcelona for years with a campaign of last minute renewal of short term contracts and the removal of all testing in favour of Bahrain. Add into the mix the animosity between the national government in Madrid with the regional government of Catalunya and today’s announcement comes as no surprise. The circuit owners in Barcelona must be particularly miffed that after an expensive programme of circuit improvements, turn 10 hairpin, removal of the last corner chicane, completely rebuilt paddock, changes to turns 1,2 and 3, that they lose the race to a street circuit with a chicane before each of the straights.
  8. That may well be the case with pre-orders but not necessarily the case with in stock items. My account was debited on the day that I placed my order last week and today I got an email that it has not yet been dispatched due to understandably high volumes (not an issue by the way). My point was that in this day and age there should be no reason to introduce artificial delays into their logistics and it struck me as a way to increase prices for a service that others provide as standard. I am firmly in the camp that believes that a order will arrive when it’s good and ready, and no it’s not a matter of life or death but if I need something more quickly and one supplier will get it to me in a couple of days at a standard price, why would I choose the one that is either slower for the same price or the same time for a premium price.
  9. As expected, taken the wrong way. I didn’t appreciate them taking my money, sitting on it for up to a week before providing a service. As far as actual delivery, we’ll it will get her when the Post Office are good and ready and doesn’t need any extra delay from the supplier.
  10. Apart from the two discounted TXS decoders I bought this week, my last purchase was when they bought in their tiered postage rates. Standard postage? We may post it sometime this week. Pay extra and we’ll get it out this afternoon. Most of my business want to Rails and TMC after that. Don't take my comment the wrong way, I am just as sad to see them close as anyone else, and wish all their staff the best for the future.
  11. The antenna zigzags across the whole end of the board as it allows a longer length to fit a smaller space. Any ‘trimming’ will render the whole thing inoperative. More importantly it will also ruin any warranty and support from Hornby.
  12. No, that will completely knacker the decoder. Better to wait until the 2nd generation decoders come along. No idea of timescales but they have been designed and signed off but component availability is an issue. As to the V1 - I fitted mine by removing the screws from the mounting socket, clipping in the decoder then a wrap of Kapton tape and leaving the whole lot free to float inside the body at an angle rather than parallel to the chassis.
  13. No doubt it will happen in time. Hornby did say that they had to go with three to ensure there was enough stored charge to maintain power to the decoder - these stayalives are not of the minimalist style to give a momentary nudge over a speck of dirt. They also share some components on the decoder to complete the charging circuit.
  14. Unlikely to be yellow over green. Yellow is notoriously translucent and will not cover a darker colour. I would speculate that the ends are painted yellow first before a moulded mask is applied and the remainder painted green. It will not be possible to perfectly match the shade of green for a patch repaint - consequently a full repaint will be your route to a change of livery. Start by getting photos of the real loco then research the availability of suitable transfers - look at RailTec Transfers and Fox transfers for these. I would recommend Railmatch acrylics applied by airbrush - Howes Models for those. A full repaint is not to be taken lightly - it requires plenty of practice as well as the right materials to complete the job.
  15. As Dublo says, there is a known glitch that prevents CV changes on the app copying over to the decoder in DCC mode - it’s been there a while and is being worked on by the developers. As such the fix is outside of the Hornby teams control. In the meantime, if the decoder is to be used in DCC rather than Bluetooth mode, after setting the soundprofile in the app, finish the setup via a DCC controller as if it were a legacy decoder using a programming track.
  16. All this speculation is fairly pointless. I suggest the OP works through the excellent troubleshooting guide available on the Hornby Forum.
  17. I believe F1 are more likely to want a race on the streets of Cape Town in line with their policy of having ‘destination’ events. See also, Madrid, Miami, Las Vegas, Baku, Abu Dhabi, Monaco.
  18. Having experienced a few street shows in Africa a rally event may be more appropriate -Safari Rally not Dakar. After a holiday in East Africa, my dad asked “which side of the road do they drive on?” The answer was a mix of “any bl@@dy side they like and the one with fewest potholes”.
  19. As has been said, programming on main (if available) will get round this issue. Although I had not experienced the issue with my home made stay alive, I connected mine via a mini plug and socket (cheap as chips on Amazon and eBay) in case I had an issue.
  20. Red Bull have already been testing the conditions.
  21. President Paul Kagame (the one that got 98.5% of votes in the last election) was negotiating with Stefan Domenicali for Kigali to be a future venue as recently as October 2022. The FIA is the governing body for world motor sports, not just F1.
  22. The word you are looking for is.......sportswashing. See also Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, China, Russia, Azabaijan, UAE - its a long list.
  23. It gets better - the 2024 event is slated to be in Kigali, Rwanda.
