I always thought the 442 looked best in NSE livery and loved travelling to Portsmouth where I was a student in them.

Are there any chances that at least one set will be preserved?

Those wagons look superb. I think I will have to investigate the lifecolor range.

Do you varnish or seal them in any way after painting/weathering?

Wasn't Channel Packet first introduced in plain black? Again, I don't have my references immediately to hand to say when it was first painted green. Certainly Bachmann's Bulleid coaches are out of the picture because they are of the post-nationalisation build.

Were any of the air smoothed Bulleids painted in wartime black? It would certainly be a livery that would appeal to me.

If not produced in black did the Southern have such a stock of paint that they could coat a whole class of loco's?

What an amazing layout. Absolutely stunning.

The only improvement I could suggest is to give the Southern running rights and run some of Bullieds finest.

Having waited all this time for these, I had to cancel all my pre orders due to likely impending financial meltdown (job worries).

Hopefully these won't sell out to rapidly and I'll be able to pick some up when fortunes improve.

That grey certainly shows more of the detail up.

Thanks for the offer of the etches, but having had another look at the body of the 70 there not as many vents and those that there are, are much smaller than the ones you have replaced.

Thank's for the advice on windows and painting, I was thinking of using glue and glaze for the windows but the body will have to be sprayed with rattle cans as I don't have an airbrush. Just need to find a suitable match for the southern green that was originally applied.

Really,less than 10 posts in and a number of complaints about price.

Why can't people talk about the prototype or the model rather than the constant need to harp on about the price, it's like this on every new model released.

Yes the class 70 is the model covered in Hornby magazine, it was that article that convinced me I may be able to build a kit.

I've only just found a railroad class 40 at a reasonable price but following you're posts I'm now looking for suitable etched grilles etc before starting assembly.
