Recent pictures on RMB of Great Central Kitchen cars has inspired me to build one of the later survivors in 4mm. Although etched sides are available they relate to the condition of 5M2 prior to conversion from Restaurant Cars in 1935. Similarly Hugh Longworths book also has a diagram of the earlier condition and refers also to 5G4 for which I find no diagram picture. Does 5G4 refer to the post 1935 diagram and if so where could I find a drawing?

the 4mm Coach by Stephen Williams Part 2 (Wild Swan 20000 ISBN 9781874103615) I have been searching for months for this book on the internet worldwide as well as all the usual sources. Even those few libraries that have a copy of Part 2 refuse to lend it. Any suggestions? Yes I recall the MRC issue with the centre pages "the Plans Page" for the GCR 50ft Clerestory Coach but cannot find my copy.....However of related interest see Railway Modeller November 1968. The diagram is 3K1 with a drawing in "British Railways Pre-Nalisation Coaching Stock Vol. 1. Also see British Railway Journal - No. 32 Summer 1990 - Wild Swan Publications hope this helps. Thanks again to Simon and Alastair. I am settled now on d 3K1 to form set with E51904. Have you any ideas as to where I might find a roof top diagram for both so I can see the arrangement of the push pull gear.?

I agree that the Clerestory in the picture is Dia 3K1. and Bill Bedford will get an order shortly in 4mm and hopefully he will have the driving trailer also. the caption in Scenes from the past is misleading as it quotes the number and dia of a non Clerestory vehicle which was later the companion to E51904E previous to which the Clerstory D 3k1 was as per picture I guess that the photo with the Clerstory would have been about 1954 as the legend on the trailer states Manchester London Road., probably displaced from the Glossop Hadfied service after electrification?

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate your comments. No, I am not a dealer nor rich enough to pay the silly prices being asked. I am a newbe to coach building so look to learn before making expensive mistakes. I think I may have shot myself in the foot by contacting so many bookseller to express an interest in this book therby helping to maintain the ridiculous price. I am not interested in the condition even a poor copy which is readable will suffice. regards Chris

Hi, thanks for your quick reply. I did contact Dave Ellis at SEF on this subject several weeks ago in the hope thay may still have one of the optional extras for sale. Unfortunatly I got no reply. So itis back the the scratchbuilding option. Or the 3D print options, but wont I regquire a scale drawing?

I am trying to complete a Nu Cast C13 loco kit by the addition of the Push Pull device attached to left had smoke box. It use to be part of an optional extra for the kit but as the kit itself no longer available. There does not appear to be any source currently available so I may have to scratch build one from a drawing. Can anybody help with advice. Photo attached.
