  1. Does anyone have any of the rolling stock numbers of the coaches that would have worked this service (Cardiff to Liverpool Lime St) in 1990 to 1991 in the period when it was class 37 hauled. From flickr, it seems it was usually a set of 4 x blue mk2s or sometimes ex NSE mk2s. I'm trying to establish where the coaches were based and or any individual numbers for the coaches??? Many thanks if anyone can help!
  2. Around 2003 2004 anything seemed to go in my experience and I experienced mk2 sets on Glasgow, Liverpool etc, though whether or not they were as booked i wouldn't know.
  3. Having flicked through a couple of platform 5 books, it seems there where a couple of mk2 coaches allocated to Old Oak Common, allocated to the intercity XC pool during 1990 - 1991. Now I know Old Oak had plenty of Great Western mk2s on allocation until 1991, but wasn't aware of any allocated to XC? The coaches in question are 13602 and 13583. I have attempted to Google them for pictures without luck, can anyone help with pictures of these coaches and or any details as to why Old Oak had XC coaches allocated to it until 1991? Thanks.
  4. I have a couple of Hornby 47 TTS engines that both have the same fault. The motor gets very hot and they then run very jerkily with sudden bursts and slows . Any ideas what is likely to be causing this (I'm guessing the motor getting hot is what is causing the sudden jerky running???). Thanks.
  5. Typical, said motor (x9863) seems to be out of stock everywhere after a quick web search and ebay check. Will have to contact Hornby i think . Thanks for the responses.
  6. Yes what you describe sounds pretty much spot on. I'm guessing its probably a write off then unless there is anyone / anywhere that repairs motors? It hasn't got particularly high "engine hours" either so seems a waste to have to replace with a brand new one!
  7. I have a HST TTS power car with running issues. I have taken it apart and narrowed it down (I think) to the actual motor. When i attempt to turn the shafts they do turn but every couple of seconds I come up against resistance and I am guessing this is what is causing the loco to run extremely poorly . My question is, does this sound like a fault or do all motors not spin freely when "hand turned", and if its a fault, is it fixable or is it a case of a new motor....? I hope I've explained what I'm getting at accurately enough! Thanks....
  8. Yes all my coaches are the elite type I must confess I just hadn't realised there was an elite version of the power cars. I'm sure this will solve the problem, so many many thanks again.
  9. Ah ha , now I hadn't realised there was a newer better version. I've just checked and I've got the circular version. I shall purchase some elites and hopefully that will solve the problem. Many thanks for your help.
  10. Thanks for replying. The uncoupling is relatively random although generally NOT on curves. I think the issue is that the Hunt HST power car coupling is a smallish magnet compared with the trailer magnet. Due to the Hornby HST coupling design you cannot just use a larger trailer coupling magnet as it wouldn't be the right height. If the HsT Power car hunt coupling had the same size magnet as the coaches magnet I reckon the problem wouldn't occur.
  11. So I have a few Hornby HST TTS power cars (the intercity swallow version) and am looking at trying to bridge the ghastly gap between power car and leading coach. I have tried the Hunt coupling magnetic coupling but this seems to quite often come apart at speed presumably due to the trailing weight of 8 mk3s plus dummy power car. Is there any suggestions for getting around this problem? Either with mods to the Hunt couplings , a different make of coupling that would be suitable for the Hornby HST?, or similarly does anyone know if the latest Hornby Hsts have a different closer coupling compared with the 2020 version? Any advice or experience or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  12. Thanks alot for looking but that one has the different coloured red stripe so wouldn't quite fit in, it also has the more orangey warning panel. I'll hold out for 833, but thanks alot for looking for me.
  13. Absolutely if its the correct model. Plmk , many thanks
  14. Sorry to bump this, but unbelievably it hasn't come up on ebay in past 4 months and still looking for this model . Would stretch to 65 pounds if someone has one to sell. Thanks .
  15. Well I'm glad you confirm my suspicions re the GWR owned stuff. 002 used to follow me around on a weekly basis (I'm a Plymouth driver) , until mid 2016. After that i only drove it once in the final 3 years. Its kind of sad that someone in control would be quite so self centered but that's the world we live in ! I will bow to your knowledge on the Hitachi fleets, although I would just point out, although 106 has punctured the far south west a few times, it does seem to be on diagrams that take it back east at the end of the day (ie it doesn't end up at Laira or Long Rock on the WofE only stuff).
  16. I believe its more to do to with keeping it on the diagrams that run through Swindon and not down to the south west (someone in Fleet allocation is a bit of a ned and presumably wants something a little more interesting to travel to and from work in!) Same thing happened with 43002 . Always on the Penzance route, UNTIL it got BR blue and yellow colour scheme. After that it rarely was used on the B and H and was used mainly on the route through Swindon. Its amazing what having someone "keen" in control can do to a trains whereabouts!
  17. I'd agree with this in terms of the original 47 TTS release, but the bang up-to-date one of 47813 and county of Hertfordshire seems to be a retrograde step (on my layout at least performance wise).
  18. Had a look at this and did everything the poster suggested. Made no difference whatsoever. Can't help but feel Hornby have sold me a pup with this one, just surprised it only seems to be me affected! The only other thing I guess is I'm using a CT electronic controller and system and maybe this version simply doesn't like the system... Also, I tried a chip from an older version of Hornby 47 tts in the new loco and got the same problem , despite the older chips working fine on my system so that makes me feel like it isn't a chip related problem?
  19. Thanks. Sorry if this is a daft question, but what do I change cv29 to? Bit of a novice when it comes to CVs. On the programming track the loco reads cv 29 value 2. What should I change this to? Thanks.
  20. So I got this engine replaced but the replacement has come back with exactly the same issue which makes me think its my layout at fault. But no other locos are having issues. Has no one else had issues with the latest version of 47 TTS and poor running (sudden bursts of power and unwanted speed changes at anything other than low speed).
  21. Had a go with this but to no avail sadly. Thanks for the suggestion.
  22. Is it possible to change CVs on Hornby tts decoders?
  23. I have the ROG version which I assume to be identical to the one you mention? I have found it runs very poorly at anything other than very low speed, as soon as it gets to about a scale 40 or 50mph it becomes very jerky with sudden bursts of energy that last a second or two, so much so it causes the coaching stock to derail! I'm wondering if its a dud one or whether others have experienced this with 47813?
  24. I was wondering that too, not brave enough to try it though unless anyone knows the definitive answer ?
