  1. There was only 1 loco in service with the 12 cylinder supercharged Sulza engines 12-LDA-31. WWII put a stop on things...
  2. Picking a diesel is difficult. The Class 37 is well proportioned but I'll go for the 1936 French 2c2 which had 44000 hp from it's twin Sulzer engines and was used on the 'Cote d'Azure' express.
  3. As far as streamliners go the American Mercury and German BR06 have a strong presence
  4. Diorama for Eisenart by Dirk Ade based on I think a Liliput model. Class 52 with timber boiler protection.
  5. I recently bought the Fleischmann Ho version of the N-Wagen silver which are the cheapest option being a few left NOS @ £19. Stamped made in Germany. Things have certainly moved on though looking at all the amazing detailing underneath the bogies on the expensive ESU version. The new Brawa version, also made in China, is bound to be super detailed too.
  6. I don't think the red running gear is right. Grey was the standard base colour once Reich territory came under aerial attack. Roco DRG44
  7. Good link. Where they in service in 1940? Those front windows seem to have been inspired by the German SVT 137 dmu which came out in 1935. Both classic Art Deco streamline designs https://www.google.com/search?sxsrf=ALeKk01q0WwT89vLhXKPhvgYYX4U3TKCcw:1588517821448&source=univ&tbm=isch&q=svt+137&client=firefox-b-d&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwixyN2D-pfpAhWuShUIHZ1EBZ4QsAR6BAgJEAE&biw=1565&bih=773&dpr=1.2#imgrc=78O8Ej-_vtDTvM
  8. What is the train type or tram shown at the 3.33 min mark ? Looks nice and clean with curved cab
  9. Here's a DRG 05 in snow with plate protection
  10. I think that sort of disruptive pattern is difficult to see from the air as long as it is shut down. Remember many movements were done at night. For moving heavy railguns with shells close to the front line during the day the D 311 diesel electric was the prime mover of choice, otherwise a Soviet artillery barrage was guaranteed... but only 4 units were ever built. The class 52 built to an austerity design saw 6161 units delivered 1942-1945
  11. The loco is in Technik-Museum Sinsheim, south west Germany
  12. Here's the new release Liliput (Bachmann Europe) DRG 52 and museum loco. An original photo of a DRG 42 in Wintertarn
  13. So, what is the output of Modelex? Is it similar to the recent Morley Crawler model which is apparently the same as Mike's modification shown bellow, or is it like a yellow case Guagemaster is concept? I did recently try the black case Gaugemaster feedback type and the buzzing noise locos make is unbearable. It brings some more control to a couple of 1980 Wrenns I have but is not suitable with my later RTR Ho and OO stuff. It adds nothing but noise. Funnily enough my modern stuff run fine with an old backup H@M clipper, a simple variable resister design. Mine goes down to 0.7v which produces an incredible slow and smooth crawl on some current models but is pretty useless with the Wrenns of the same era!
  14. Click on the video! Mike then made a second video showing how to modify the Morley with smaller capacitors to improve crawl performance
  15. What sort of output is the Modelx? Their website gives zero info...
  16. Watching Sam's video he says there are no pickup prongs on the wheels. How does the juice get to the motor, does the axle make the whole metal chassis live?
  17. Ask Mike, he has an oscilloscope and has played around with various controllers
  18. This article may interest you Fred https://marklinstop.com/2013/01/marklin-sk-800-complete-genealogy-of-a-streamlined-locomotive/
  19. Do red springs signify anything on these recent ones?
  20. You can see footage of the original BR06 being built and running in this youtube video
  21. Came across this article about a guy re-motoring with cheapish ($12 or so) used Maxon and Portescap brushed coreless motors. He seems to have some success looking at his videos http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/273297.aspx Should probably mention the German company Faulhaber too as they make a large range of micro-motors. https://www.faulhaber.com/en/products/brushless-dc-motors/brushless-dc-servomotors/
  22. Er...so what's this, brushless slotted core design? https://www.portescap.com/products/brushless-dc-motor/bldc-motor-design
  23. Don't you mean Maxon? Some Trix shunters use them https://www.maxongroup.com/maxon/view/content/product-overview My Trix P10 dcc sound loco has a Portescap Athlonix motor which is a brush coreless design https://www.portescap.com/products/brush-dc-motor/athlonix-high-power-density-brush-dc-motors https://www.portescap.com/products/brush-dc-motor/brushed-dc-motor-basics
  24. In the name of science I weighed the Brawa BR06 and it's a hefty 826 grams. There can't be to many British outline OO locos coming in more? That's some 50% more than my favourite models the Trix P10 and Croc which like the Brawa are of metal construction. The Trix have better build quality IMHO
