There is some jiggery pokery as the real Standard 4s had a solid front underneath the smokebox door as the footplate dropped down to bufferbeam level. Charlie

How to trigger a ‘serious’ enthusiast…
Lochgorm replied to MrTea's topic in Modelling musings & miscellany
They look more like foxgloves to me! Surely the real seasonal anomaly is the presence of rose hips in the left foreground. Charlie -
Sorry, but that Swordfish is in fact a Gloster Gladiator! Charlie

I think this topic is in the wrong place: Wheeltappers The non-railway and non-modelling social zone. I am sure that a place can be found for it in the Layout section of the Modelling zone.. Charlie

But much more difficult to work out on the western side of the Atlantic ☹️

Is the station being in the middle of Rannoch Moor good enough for you? Charlie

What a terrible video that explains little. For example on a QNH based approach the rad alt will always under-read the pressure altimeter. Really are there so many idiots who do not set airfield pressure settings when making an approach because they are a danger to themselves and other aircraft in the vicinity? I find the need to make this video very worrying. Charlie

a) No difference the oxidant is contained within the bullet’s cartridge. b) No difference as action and reaction are proportional to mass which is independent of gravity.

Very disappointing reviews from jjb1970 as there was no mention whether the champagne was served at the correct temperature. Important information when travelling business class. Also the breakfast jam had to be requested as an extra on Vietnam Airways. FFS as a certain bear would say. Charlie

Tender springs under the axle boxes
Lochgorm replied to BlackFivesMatter's topic in Railways of Scotland
Stroudley didn’t build any tenders during his time at Inverness. Highland tenders of that era were based on the Crewe type from its association with Alexander Allan and springs were most definitely above the axle boxes. However in all likelihood the underslung springs were a connivance between Drummond and Stroudley during their time together at Brighton and used by Drummond in his early designs when he came north to the NBR and CR. Bialetti works for me: Quick and easy to use with little to go wrong. Can be used on any stove including induction as in this example. My cheap and cheerful Lavazza milk frother is lasting the course as well because as far as I am concerned the Italians with their delicate stomachs can keep their coffee drinking rules. Charlie

Don’t need a radio! I only listen to BBC R3 after lunch finding the mornings full of gratuitous waffle and Classic FM is banal beyond belief. So I am long acquainted with American PBS services. I think that TuneIn has something to do with the unavailability of some stations. However, enjoyment is maintained by streaming these stations directly using their apps on my phone and blue toothing the music over to the info. Sanity prevails (KWMU-3 from St Louis is a favourite). Surely the good squadron leader hasn’t forgotten that delight from a box of Compo Rations, cheese “possessed” smeared with greengage jam eaten on an oatmeal biscuit. Charlie
