  1. Is there a more frustrating g job in modelling than fitting the operating rod for the buckeye on the front of a 66???]
  2. Odd I'm usually unlucky, if something has an inheritance fault I will suffer it, it took two attempts to load sounds onto my Bachmann 66 and touch wood no issues when I've played with it.
  3. Does bring into question their testing, if they can't guarantee compatibility with probably the most popular controller brand, they might aswell start stating claiming their locos won't run through PECO points
  4. So up until this extra info is officially published my warranty is still valid using a dc controller?
  5. Where is that advice published? (I'm not saying it's not true, more concerned their communication of critical info seems a bit scattergun, after all they know my email as I have to register the device, but I've had no warning email)
  6. Following rhe discussions about sizes, do the 6pin hm7000 decoders actually fit any of the Hornby 6pin locos as they tend to be the smaller stuff like pecketts and sentinels?
  7. Well paid my money. Put one onto a Bachmann 66, only thing I have that matches the released sounds. I could have put it in a railroad 59 I guess, but the 66 has lights to play with (at a push probably a Bachmann 57). And yeah I was impressed, fitting could have been easier if the blanking plate wasn't so tight it bent two pins coming off but some fiddling and fettling and the hm decoder clicked in. It probably needs a nice big bassey (is that a word) speaker for it to be at its best, but the big enclosure cap fits the Bachmann enclosure. The sounds are pretty good, performance is good. Few niggles need sorting like day/night lights etc. Oh and running with a gauge master combi turned up round my 6x4 test track.
  8. I'm more think of the future effectively linking train sim with your model railway
  9. I'm surprised we've not entered the area where you 'drive' the loco and the sounds are trigger automatically. So you effective have a train sim like display that shows you water levels the fire etc, you top up water and the loco.plays the right sound you drive poorly and the loco blows off. You don't keep pressure up and loco performance drops etc etc
  10. Thats the sad thing really for this to really work thats exactly what is needed. Pretending that other manufacturers don't exist or that people only buy stuff in red boxes isn't going to work long term, maybe establish HM as a seperate brand within the group.
  11. Didn't get a chance to watch fully dipped in and out between dealing with kids
  12. Just watching one of Hornby's YouTube video and a few things struct me, no mention of Bluetooth accessory decoders? But the main one was a question about sounds for the international range, which was answered with 'well in due time, there's just me as the sound guy'. Surely that has to show they there's an opportunity for partnership(s) with 3rd party sound producers to cover their lack of capacity and also potentially produce non Bornby sound projects.
  13. Oh well bit the bullet, the only thing I have that has a suitable sound set available is a Bachmann 66, so should be fun...
  14. Where's the latest available sounds list? One problem with the Hornby site is they seem to love to hide information in obscure places!
  15. Not seen it expressly mentioned, how do the soundchips fit with locos which already have with factory fitted speakers?
  16. Do they maintain a list of what sounds are available? I know there's a list of proposed sounds, but I'd like to know what I can play with right now :)
  17. I suppose the advantage is it's a relative cheap way into DCC were someone with a DdC layout can buy into DCC with sound for one 'treat loco' to have a play with before committing.
  18. Not what I said at all, more if your pushing the space saving advantage why not think beyond the roundly roundy, which takes up a lot of space.
  19. Well if your going to make things up, at least make it exciting :D
  20. They could told a more entertaining story there could have been the crushing defeat of have the film rights refused(no need to mention another manufacturer,, but it doesn’t matter they still made a stunning model. Right now I can close my eyes and write an episode of Model World, it’s like reading Colin Forbes books Simon has an idea Simon calls employee(s) to office We’re going to make (x) we have (y) days employees look at photos and/ or older models at this point the following phrases must be deployed we can defiantly improve on that’/‘we defiantly need to capture this/that detail’ field trip, most likely to 1:1 collection, maybe elsewhere if Simon releases some of the tea fund the following thing must happen, pictures with big stick, ohh look at (interesting feature’) Someone must say ‘you get a totally different feeling for it now’ ‘we’d never have seen that in the photos’ working sample arrives, runs round layout, random people will arrive, ‘oh wow is this the (x) wow it’s awesome, (optional Simon appearance) first decorated sample arrives, Simon at this point must delve into his drawers for a magnifying glass ( this is important, the universe ends if this doesn’t happen), declares himself amazed with the detail well done boys we go into production Simon relaxes in chair hands behind his head, looks happy….
  21. They seem to be able to tell any story the way they want. I'm sure it could have been scripted in a positive way. The Lion 'story' is ultimately no different to the 'new starter loco' story but suspiciously lacks the usual 'field trip'
  22. The whole Titfeild thing wasn't so much whitewashed as dull washed. Sad really I'm sure a truer tale could have been told in a way that was positive for them. They love a bit of false jeopardy, a race to secure the license, piped at the post by some dastardly American company after the catalogues went to press.... Or is the agreement that they can't even mention Titfeild?? Makes you wonder if this whole segment was completely shot after the event? I've not bothered to note if everyone involved is wearing the same clothes in events that are supposed to be happening months appart?
