  1. Luke this layout is coming together nicely, plaster cloth seems to be a good product to use.
  2. Hi Brian thanks for sharing the link, this helps me a lot.
  3. I thought I would have a bash at this round of the cakebox challenge. Moving coal by rail was a large industry, so I have been searching for something to model this on. The baseboard will be a scale model scenery as I find these are great to work with.
  4. Stuey I have just caught up reading about the little layout build. You have produced a lovely little layout which will give inspiration to fellow railway modellers.
  5. Nice work on the ballast, once weathered it will be in keeping with the environment. The Balfour Sentinel does look the business.
  6. Thanks Marly51, it will be interesting modelling this type of fence and one I will be watching with interest.
  7. Thanks for the Ivor engine video, brought back loads of childhood memories.
  8. That’s a great reference picture Marly51, which clearly shows the fencing that was used.
  9. Thank you everyone for the response to my diorama build. Progress is continuing slowly, the paved areas and the section of wall have been painted and weathered. The fence is in place with some painting and weathering applied. Next on my list of duties will be to add a sandy type of ballast. I have added a picture of my work so far.
  10. Nice little inglenook, are you leaving it like it is or are you adding scenery and buildings.
  11. Marly51 thank you for your comments. I just thought of what I could achieve on such a small base, hopefully I am looking of adding as much detail without over doing it.
  12. Stuey I like your idea of storing wagons safely, to and from exhibitions.
  13. A little more progress with my diorama, the plinth arrived yesterday while I was at work. Last night the track was glued in place. This morning I have laid some stone paving and a partially broken stone wall. The front of the diorama has some remanence of a stone paved area which will be overgrown with grass and flowers. I thought I would upload a picture of my progress.
  14. Sounds really interesting, can’t wait to see your cakebox develop.
  15. Luke you have produced a lovely looking distillery layout. I like your choice of rolling stock and locos. The Ruston & Hornsby loco looks a little stunner.
  16. Very nicely done, a war theme inside an ammo box. I like the war department wagons.
  17. Simon this concept looks really interesting. It’s great that each quarter is a different theme and it all joins up to make one circular layout.
  18. Andy call me old fashioned but I still like to have the magazine in my hand to read.
  19. Thanks LGDB for the link, this helps me a lot.
  20. Hi instead of using a traditional buffer stop, I will use railway sleepers which are stacked and chained to the track. I have seen this done but cannot remember where.
  21. Thanks LGDB! I am pleased with the items.
  22. A couple of items for the diorama have arrived today, but no plinth. Hopefully tomorrow. I have cut the track to the size I need and removed some sleepers. While I wait for the plinth arriving work started on weathering the rails and sleeper chairs. A couple of pictures of some items and the work on the track.
  23. You cannot beat those little Pug locos, looks like you will have loads of fun with this little shunting layout.
  24. Fingers crossed most of the bits I ordered will arrive tomorrow and then I can start my little diorama build.
