  1. Another seaside narrow gauge railway is the North Bay Railway in Scarborough. It has a gauge of 20 in (508 mm), and runs for approximately 7⁄8 mile (1.4 km) between Peasholm Park and Scalby Mills. It was built in 1931 and officially opened at 2 p.m. on Saturday 23rd May 1931. During the Second World War, the railway was closed as it was in the Coastal Defence Area. The last train ran on 6 July 1940 and the railway remained closed until 1945. They currently have five locomotives: three Hudswell Clarke steam outline 4-6-2DH: No.1931 Neptune (built 1931), No.1932 Triton (built 1932) and No.1933 Poseidon (built 1933). These resemble Gresley A1s 4-6-2s. the fourth is 4-6-4DH tank locomotive No.570 Robin Hood (another Hudswell Clarke loco, built 1932) The fifth locomotive arrived in 2016: 0-4-0ST Georgina. It is the first steam locomotive to run on the railway. All five locomotives: Georgina and (right to left) Poseidon, Triton, Robin Hood, Neptune
  2. There's a picture of a strange locomotive in a book I have. It is a tender engine but its tender shares its chassis with part of a coach. It's a LMS locomotive and it's number is 10000
  3. Not at all. I sometimes wear a mask when doing my models.
  4. I don't know the name of this layout only that it's in OO and set during BR days in the Southern Region.
  5. When at the Doncaster show, I did take a few pictures and videos and I brought some stuff. I'll post some of them up on here if anyone wants a look.
  6. Same thing happens to me. They get in the way all the time.
  7. I went to two shows at the beginning of last year. One in Pontefract in January and the Great British Modelling exhibition in February at Doncaster Racecourse. I was supposed to go to my club's exhibition in May the same year but it got cancelled.
  8. Hi Tubs. Looks like I'm in a similar position to you are. I'm 18 and not only I'm also working on a budget but also a limited amount of space too. I'm in the process of constructing two OO gauge micro layouts using two cardboard slabs salvaged from a Ikea cupboard delivery. Because of the small budget, I've used items that have been pre-built and were used on my larger OO gauge layout which is now packed away. I've put the links for both layouts above. Feel free to have a look. Good luck with the layout I'll be watching with great interest. James.
  9. Loving the pics. Layout looks like it's shaping up nicely. Will be watching with great interest. (As always)
  10. I may be considering purchasing one of Hattons GNR six wheelers to run with my DJH Ivatt C1 4-4-2. Should i still consider getting it?
  11. That pops up every time I log on. It does get slightly annoying.
  12. I think I may have had this problem in the past but i can't recall.
  13. I think Bachmann are still doing the range in OO, Tomix in N and there are some G gauge examples too.
  14. I have a small lump of coal I picked up from Grosmont sheds. I was was going to use it for some wagons but decided to keep it as a souvenir.
  15. My Granddad has some Dapol Gresley teaks in N gauge some of which have been fitted with lighting. They are used on his N gauge layout that he has in a spare bedroom. They aren't too bright but get hot if they are on for a long period of time. and when things get hot, they tend to overheat. Because the layout is DCC, the coaches remain lit if the train is stationary and or in a siding. Nevertheless, they look brilliant when running with his sound fitted 5029 Nunney Castle. If only there was a way to turn them off...
  16. I'm sure that you're aware that Train-Tech offer Automatic coach light strips in N and OO. I have seen some in action and they look pretty realistic. Perhaps they could be used?
  17. Is this set supposedly replacing the Thomas range?
