  1. A Spoonful of sugar - From Mary Poppins
  2. Back to the Hall for a moment: I have finished removing the footplate and wheel splashers. There are a few marks on it but that can be easily sanded smooth. There are a few gaps in the boiler where the wheel splasher were and I'm in the process of filling them with scrap bits of plastic. I have given the shell a few coats of Humbrol No.33 (Matt Black) although i will have to repaint it when I eventually fill the gaps. The next thing to do is to sort out the backhead. In order to get it to look like the photo, I'm going to do some careful filing and drilling to represent the fire hole.
  3. We'll meet again - Dame Vera Lynn (RIP 20 March 1917 - 18 June 2020)
  4. The class is a 2-6-4T and there are other classes that have this wheel arrangement example Standard Class 4mt (tank) of which 15 have been preserved. Also there are different classes built by Fairburn and Stanier for the LMS. Several classes have been preserved but there are only a few locos surviving. 2-6-4Ts are small but powerful locomotives and if an L1 built from scratch, another hole in preservation would be filled.
  5. So, with that, attention has now turned towards the B12. As it is already black, I am going to paint it as either as LNER wartime or BR either with Gill Sans lettering or the early crest (Lion on wheel) or late crest (Ferret with dartboard) Here's what it will hopefully look like once it is complete (Though my model will be black).
  6. I wonder if the A1SLT is going to build No.10000 after they have finished with P2 2-8-2 2007 'Prince of Wales' and the V3 and V4. It's unlikely that they will but you never know...
  7. Update: I am in the process of turning the Albert Hall shell into a boiler. So far, I have removed the cab, two wheel splashers, bufferbeam and a bit of the footplate. The top of the backhead was rough (see earlier photo) so I filed that down. I'm keeping the front of the smokebox whole but considering removing the saddle and supports. I also might remove the safety valve cover but i might end up keeping that. This is the boiler of 4930 'Hagley Hall' (Now undergoing overhaul) at the Severn Valley Railway. This is what I hope the shell will look like when I'm finished. It will be then put onto the Lowmac wagon. I have still have to file down the molded handrails and saw the splashers and footplate off, but I'll get there, eventually. I'll let you know on the progress on the boiler James
  8. The only preserved railways and centres I've ever been to are I've been to The Yorkshire Wolds Railway (Fimber), The National Railway Museum (York), Beamish (been once but want to go again) and the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (Pickering-Grosmont (also to Whitby and occasionally Battersby). I've also been to the Aln Valley Railway in Alnwick.
  9. Ok. I've had a look on Google maps but it's not that clear. I can only presume it's still there and still in use.
