Big old thing isn't it! It'
Big isn't it!! It always amazed me that semaphores were pulled by cables, pulleys and man-power. Signalmen must have been high in the list of people you wouldn't challenge to a bar-room arm wrestle.
I think you are right. I remember there was a lever in the Fouldubs box I could not even move. The signal was a long way from the box. The signalman seemed to move it quite easily.

Much enjoyed the latest video. The chalk embankments are particularly effective.

Back on the model I have started extending the scenic section above the tunnel mouth. The original plan was to have a low relief tenement but I have since decided to model a full tenement, front and back and to extend the street further back to include a further building. Brian at Braeside is working on the tenement now so I thought I should complete the base on which it will stand.

Very nice looking shed like the side for storage well covered over all in all a very solid bit of work cant wait to see the coach appear you have your work cut out .The view from your house looks great and uncluttered is it only deer you get visitations from?
I am not sure you have really seen the view from our house. We overlook the Dornoch Firth and can see all the way from Dunrobin Castle to Portmahomack. Our visitors are diverse. Sparrowhawks, Buzzards, Kite, one resident hedgehog, Herons, House Martin's, Swallows and bats to name a few. Oh and most of my good lady wife's relatives! We are very lucky to live where we do. Other visitors include the daily visit from the RAF. Eurofighters practising their bombing runs to the weapons range at Tain. So a daily air display. We have 8 acres, mostly mature Birch wood, so does not need too much looking after. Some is cleared out to garden.

You can't have too many Class 27's!

I thought it would be fun to put some railway items around the shed. One will be a full size signal. I say full size but I am thinking around 12ft tall which is quite short, only 4 ft or so higher than the top of the shed. Another idea perhaps a little easier is a gradient post. I thought this would be a couple of planks nailed to a fence post but having done some research some are more complicated than that. This is based on a Caledonian Railway example and they rebated the cross boards into the post. In truth it is about 3/4 scale but suits the size of the shed. Here is the post with first coat of primer
