I thought it would be fun to put some railway items around the shed. One will be a full size signal. I say full size but I am thinking around 12ft tall which is quite short, only 4 ft or so higher than the top of the shed. Another idea perhaps a little easier is a gradient post. I thought this would be a couple of planks nailed to a fence post but having done some research some are more complicated than that. This is based on a Caledonian Railway example and they rebated the cross boards into the post. In truth it is about 3/4 scale but suits the size of the shed. Here is the post with first coat of primer

Great video Andy. The weathering on the silver bullets is very effective.
As for a day which starts with a damn good breakfast and putting the world to rights, I'd say that was a pretty good day!

Hi David,
Looks great as does the track, Iv tried to resist but will get the yellow one when the sound versions come into stock.
I believe firmly that our great British manufacturers should be supported as much as possible.
Can I ask where you got the track from?
Kind regards
Julian.
Thanks Julian.
The track is Peco. (From the Individulay range)The rail and sleepers are provided separately.

Before the coach comes the shed! This will give me somewhere to make a proper mess!
The bits arrived on a truck this morning.
The picture of the site shows where it will sit together with the coach. The four corners of the coach are marked with the blue capped posts to the left. The shed goes on the concrete base.

I like the squeaky axles too. I was about to ask if they were real squeaks or f16 on the controller!

It will be quite a while before I construct baseboards for Leuchars. However I can make a couple of smaller modules to be installed later. At the moment I am laying out components to see that the plan I drew is workable. This is the fuel delivery area, item 6 on the original plan. It fits fine in the two feet I have pencilled in for it. On the layout it will be viewed from the other side.
The second pair of photos is the fuel storage area at the other end of the layout. Item 9 on the plan. The blue tape marks the edge of the board. No showstoppers or major dimension issues so far!
