  1. Yes Dave let me add my congratulations, not only to you, but all the folk, that then chip in to make the whole thread so entertaining. All the best Kevin. And that should be an LMS diesel!! :-)
  2. Hi John, I thought once we had the running session last week, that it would spur you on to start the other fiddle yard. I've been mugging up on the track layout, at that end (via Leeds Termini), and understand the relationship with Leeds City South now. It's quite unbelievable that as the lines exit LCS, there are only 2 tracks, just before it splits again across the junction. Could have a Trans Pennine set coming round the corner, if Bachmann ever produce one. Kevin
  3. No Leeds Central is correct, the old Leeds terminus for ECML trains, now long since swept away in real life. Kevin.
  4. Hi Rod, The houses look fantastic, and really compose the scene nicely. With regard to the fencing, isn't the ugly palisade fencing bit too modern for your era? I would have thought the chain link fencing was more in line with your period. Cue debate about the introduction of said fencing!! Excellent thread, really enjoying following it. Kevin.
  5. Hi Michael, Enjoying the build and looking forward to seeing this at exhibitions in the future. There is a photo in December Steam World p38. Article is about someone from Loughborough's trainspotting days. Hope it's of some use to you. Kevin
  6. King Canute had a similar problem John - looking good though. Kevin
  7. Hi, Sorry, missed looking on for a day, a bit more info on Invacars: Early vehicles were powered by an air-cooled Villiers 147 cc engine, but when production of that engine ceased in the early 1970s it was replaced by a much more powerful 4-stroke 500 cc or 600 cc Steyr-Puch engine, giving a reported top speed of 82 mph (132 km/h). Now I don't know about you, but the thought of one of those doing 80mph is a lot scary!! Info from Wiki. They used to let them sit in front of the North Stand at Hull City's Boothferry Park. :-) Kevin
  8. Hi Rich, On Dmudriver's West Kirby Town thread you asked about sheds. You might also find some info here on John Elliot's Leeds City North thread, where he documents his shed extension: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/64065-leeds-city-the-midland-side-in-4mm/page-16 The shed extension starts at P16 post #387. Hope it helps, and I know he would be only too happy to answer any questions you might have. Liking the work on the shed (engine!!) by the way! Kevin
  9. <<Jerry has produced a temporary card mock-up of the Town Hall and adjacent buildings (the orangy-coloured buildings). Before the show opened Jerry placed it in its allotted space and after some consideration felt it was too dominant and thus reduced its height by a few millimetres by cutting a portion out of the middle. The permanent model will consequently sit better towards the back of the townscene without dominating its setting. >> More Town Hall cuts! :stinker: Kevin!
  10. Hi Mick, What are all the chalk markings - are they Trip Working Nos?? Kevin
  11. The only problem with that is that Snaith West is on the L&Y line. I agree however that it looks like a Midland box. Found an old photo from 1950 (Francis Frith collection), and it's the same box. Any explanation anyone? Kevin
  12. James, the room is 3m x 2m (post #44), that's just 9'10" x 6'6" in old old money. Given that small size Pete (BC), you have created a remarkable scene, that just stinks of city terminus. Also you should have a lot of fun playing with operating it, it reminds me of Bradfield GS, which I was privileged to be a member of the op team on. It will be well worth putting extra effort in to how you run it, the rewards are terrific. Excellent! Kevin
  13. Anymore news? Kevin.
  14. There are some excellent Bridlington photos here, and others from the area: https://www.flickr.com/photos/16749798@N08/sets/72157617600705024 Kevin
  15. If the tour was led by Ken Hoole, then it was probably organised by the North Eastern Railway Association, who used to organise May tours to places of NER interest. I believe the lady in J4419 looks like Una Tate, wife of Bill from the Manchester MRS , parents of John, who is still involved with the Society, and also at the East Lancs. I f you go to the exhibition and buy magazines off Una's stall, that's who I mean, as she ran it for many years, though she, and Bill are now deceased. Kevin
  16. Hi Tony and David Your lucky if you have a career, I just seem to have had a succession of jobs! Mind you I have been fortunate enough to work in Ladies Tights and Nappies!! Are the electronic boards ready for your layout Tony? Regards, Kevin
  17. Hi Dave, Well not sure I can follow any logic for the photos, so think I'll just carry on enjoying them as usual! :-) What happened to the SNCF loco in C1871? Kevin
  18. Hi Dave, What more can I add to d.h64's post, except, and a Happy New Year, as he says "must read". Always entertaining, and the anticipation of what will he post next. Just great Dave - thanks. Kevin
  19. Hi David, Have you done anything else to this, maybe got a fleet of trolleybuses by now? Kevin.
  20. Hi, There's an article in Bylines this month (Dec) on the L&B carriages! Kevin
  21. Clearly like father like son! Please keep the pictures coming David, can't believe the coverage you have between you. Wish I'd known you would be at Newcastle show, I was there with New Hey. Would have liked to say hello. Kevin
  22. Hi Id026, Visited the L&B last week at Woody Bay, and was very impressed withwhat they had done, even though the run is only 1 mile! They had a lovely rake of restored coaches. Alos picked up a newphoto album that the association had produced - see here: http://www.lynton-rail.co.uk/shop/lb-journey I don't know if the photos are new, but I found the book very interesting, mainly mid 30's pictures taken just before closure. Kevin
  23. That's what made me ask Peter. Does the station still produce fly ash? Maybe not so much now? What happens to it - leaves by lorry? Just curious really! Kevin
