  1. Thanks for the photos everyone. Scottystitch - any idea what working the ews 66 and container flats was - to Elgin perhaps? Cheers, Evan
  2. You could try many small shavings of plastic to represent the scrap - I used that on my previous layout and it worked quite well. I never got round to painting them but some 'metal' paint would probably do the job.
  3. Thought I might start a thread to show some (fairly) recent happenings on the railways in the area. Here's a couple at Fetteresso Viaduct, Stonehaven to get the ball rolling. Aberdeen - Edinburgh turbostar, 29-02-20 Class 70 Waterloo - Grangemouth Ineos, 29-02-20 And a quick shot of the craiginches bound intermodal (loaded with just the two containers in the pic) crossing Glenury Viaduct, taken while on my daily exercise. 26-03-20 As usual comments and contributions all welcome. Thanks, Evan
  4. Afternoon all. More ballasting of the main line completed today, although I think I've made the shoulder too wide at the start of the transition curve, so that may be trimmed down. I've also tried superelevation on the mainline. Not sure if this picture shows it too well - I can post better ones if people want Weathering on this Bachmann ssa has also been completed, with the interior being modelled empty but with some scrap that was missed during unloading still remaining. Opinions, comments all welcome. Thanks, Evan
  5. More pictures This area will become the storage yard, and is the only part of the first layout to remain. Thanks for looking
  6. Hello everyone. This is my latest (second) layout, Redfield. It represents the exchange siding and works of a small private railway, with the cumbrian coast main line running alongside. The layout is continuous run, or it will be once the removable span is constructed to link the two sides. Track and points are all code 100, with mixture of peco streamline for the mainline and Hornby on the branch. Not ideal I know, but the Hornby track should look ok in the industrial setting. Some pictures showing the recent progress More to follow soon. Cheers, Evan
  7. Hello to everyone. Just joined the forum so I'd better introduce myself. I hail from the north east of Scotland and I've been modelling for a few years now, main interests being BR and post-BR wagonload freight, industrial railways and the current scene up here. My current layout is based on the cumbrian coast in the 80s/90s, with an emphasis on freight in the workington area, to allow the running of my motley collection of wagons. And that's it really. Hope everyone is staying safe in the current covid-19 pandemic - least it means more modelling time! Cheers, Evan
