  1. Nadelik Lowen ha Blydhen Nowdh Da! Thanks to all our customers for their support over the last 12 months. We are very grateful for the messages and cards, and in particular the chocolates! As our regulars will know, we do not send Christmas Cards but instead make a donation to one of our charities. This year it is the Bass Point National Coastwatch Institution, where our MD is a Senior Watchkeeper. To give our team a break, there will be no newsletter or social media posts until Friday 7th January. Our stores and website are, of course, open as normal! https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/pg/155/Christmas-Opening-Hours
  2. The Kernow Model Rail Centre have announced that a third production batch of their popular, previously sold out, KMRC Exclusive YCV Turbot Bogie Ballast Wagons are available now with all new numbers in weathered ‘Dutch’ livery. British Rail found itself with a large fleet of young but under-used Bogie Bolster E wagons in the 1970s, 1200 of the type having been built in 1961 and 1962 but proving too short to be useful for steel traffic. As the engineers’ fleet at the time was varied and elderly, it was decided to rebuild some of these Bogie Bolsters as ballast wagons. A low-sided body was constructed, the sides being fabricated with three drop-side doors. The fixed ends had an angled plate fitted on top to prevent loads from spilling on to the draw-gear. Livery was civil engineers grey, with the top third of the sides in yellow. The type was coded YCV and titled Turbot, continuing the tradition of naming engineers’ wagons after fish. Turbots could be seen either singly or in rakes in most parts of the country throughout the 1980s. By the 1990s, the vehicle's age and the availability of more modern replacements triggered the start of withdrawals This third KMRC exclusive production run compromises of four versions, in weathered Dutch livery, as follows and are available now: SB006O YCV Turbot Bogie Ballast Wagon Number DB978022 SB006P YCV Turbot Bogie Ballast Wagon Number DB978052 SB006Q YCV Turbot Bogie Ballast Wagon Number DB978067 SB006R YCV Turbot Bogie Ballast Wagon Number DB978102 Graham Muspratt, Development Manager, advised: “Our previous two production batches of the YCV Turbot Bogie Ballast Wagons have been sold out for a while, with the ‘Dutch’ liveried weathered versions being extremely popular, so this new batch with new running numbers we hope will be as equally popular.” More information can be found on our dedicated webpage here https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/pg/161/KMRC-Wagon---YCV-Turbot

This Christmas Skrifa post provides help with those questions and give a few gift ideas. https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/pg/107/KMRC-Skrifa---Christmas-Page

Graham Muspratt, Development Manager, said: “Having already produced ‘Bart the Engine” as a KMRC Exclusive N gauge model earlier this year, it was a logical step to work with Accurascale to bring this distinctive livery to 00 gauge via their all new high specification model.”
  9. Kernow Model Rail Centre has another ‘Brush’ in 0 Gauge with its Exclusive Class 60 number 60040 in DB Schenker maroon as ‘The Territorial Army Centenary’. Locomotive 60040 was built by Brush Traction for British Rail in February 1992, and one of the 100 members of the class. The entire Class 60 fleet became the property of English Welsh & Scottish (EWS) following the privatisation of British Rail during the mid-1990s. In November 2010, EWS's successor, DB Schenker, announced that a portion of the fleet would be overhauled, referring to such units as Super 60s and extending their service life through to around 2025. 60040 operates from Toton TMD in Nottinghamshire, she was originally named ‘Brecon Beacons’ between February 1992 and July 1996. After gaining the DB Schenker maroon livery she was named ‘The Territorial Army Centenary” along with a Union flag motif in June 2008 and was unveiled at the National Railway Museum, it is this condition that the KMRC Exclusive model represents. The model has been produced by Heljan exclusively for KRMC and correctly represents 60040 in her DB Schenker maroon livery and branding. Also supplied with the model are a set of etched ‘The Territorial Army Centenary’ nameplates. The Exclusive model is available to pre-order at £649.00 and should be available before the end of this year, click here to pre-order. Chris Trerise, Managing Director, said: “We are pleased to announce our second 0 Gauge Exclusive model, following on from our previously announced ‘Brush’ type 4 Class 47 D1670 Mammoth’, Class 60 number 60040 keeps with the ‘Brush’ theme, and celebrates the centenary of the Territorial Army whilst looking striking in its iconic DB Schenker livery.”

Following receipt of the 1st Engineering Prototypes We have updated the dedicated project page for the GWR Steam Railmotor here https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/pg/144/GWR-Steam-Railmotor We are still in the process of fully evaluating and testing these prototypes, as is the often the case with such a development process we are aware of a few areas that require some attention from the translation of the CADs to tooling (although beware of comparisons between images taken from different angles, perspectives, focal lengths and decoration). Further updates will be made available in due course as the process continues.
