  1. Is the railtecmodels(ät)gmail.com email address actually working? I have sent a couple of emails that have gone unanswered. The first one wasn't that important and was several months ago but I have a more important query this time and have had no response to a mail sent a couple of days ago so I'm wondering do I have a current email address. If @railtec-models could confirm that would be great. Or an answer here would also suffice. I'm wondering two things: 1) Any idea if/when the NIR 111 class transfer will be available again? That's this guy: https://www.railtec-models.com/showitem.php?id=1067 2) Said transfer appears not to include the straight 113 set of numbers, only the later 8113 (with the bolder, more closely spaced font which prevents me just trimming the leading '8'). Would it be possible to update the artwork before the next run to include these? 3) Would it be possible to update the artwork to include the small GM/EMD builder's plate? Edit: ok that was three things lol. Appreciate any feedback, Phil.
  2. Maybe ask on here if there are two others in the same boat then buy one pack and split it?
  3. It's nice to see the brake blocks in what I assume is the correct position relative to the chassis and that if the wheels are pushed out to scale gauge they line up with the tyre tread. Bodes well for upcoming Irish stuff too I hope
  4. I still wouldn't rule it out in a future run given the demand for anything GB is likely to far outstrip the demand for anything NIR.
  5. Would it be an option to mould the rivets in negative (ie as depressions) to try to fool the eye, or would that scream "wrong" and draw more attention to the area than leaving it blank?
  6. Is there any chance of re-running these Bell reefers @arran ? They would surely be popular with all the A Classes and 42' flats out there now.
  7. If there ever was a way to link Ireland to the European rail network then I suspect regauging the entire Irish network would be a small part of the overall budget. It could be done in stages, dual gauging the principal routes first and eventually regauging the whole lot to standard gauge. The tunnel/bridge is rather unlikely though. There's no economic justification for it.
  8. I'd rather a Kiss than a Flirt. Would anybody rule out an AS entry into the H0 market? I wouldn't bet against it ;-)
  9. I would suggest not getting IPA on the paintwork of any rolling stock unless you want it to have some effect. Some paint finishes themselves will be immediately damaged by IPA (Lima mk2b's for example can be completely stripped to bare plastic in IPA so even minimal contact damages the finish).
  10. Not only but also? https://irishrailwaymodels.com/pages/about-us The plot thickens as they say... The suspense of what the lads are cooking up next is half the fun now. Could be literally anything.
  11. The Irish buffet cars were modified mk2b FK's. They plated over the last two windows on the corridor side and put the serving area there. The toilet at that end was also removed and its window plated over: https://images.app.goo.gl/LpUeqBHWeFzaFqD96 https://irishrailwaymodeller.com/uploads/monthly_2014_12/4402_Tralee_080400.jpg.3b254ca18cfe894fbc41e4a9d53363f1.jpg https://images.app.goo.gl/bxZe3onywq6Wd467A I don't think such a custom arrangement ever ran on BR but I'm open to correction on that as I know next to nothing about BR coaching stock. There were two examples, 4401 (ex BR 19489/13489) and 4402 (ex BR 19497/13497) It could be that a subtle joke has flown over my head, in which case please disregard all of the above
  12. It's nice to see GB based modellers having the opportunity to enjoy Irish models in RTR. When I was a kid in Dublin they basically did not exist or were just awful knock-offs of GB prototypes repainted orange and black. Mostly we just had GB outline models to play with. My first train set was a Lima GWR Western Class. Never really believed I'd see Irish RTR models and certainly not in the quality of the A Class.
  13. 18 now. I was way off with Friday. They'll be gone by this evening at this rate!
  14. Selling like hot cakes those ITG ones. Only 57 left now out of 200 and only announced yesterday. Well done to all concerned. I'd say they'll all be gone by Friday.
  15. It's great to see such interest in Irish models and to see them reaching the farthest flung corners of the earth. Irish railway modelling (in RTR) has come an awful long way from those repainted Class 33's and Hymeks. Long may it continue.
  16. I guess most folks aren't super interested in the Irish stuff but for the sake of completeness it should be mentioned that CIE mk2d's (probably closer to BR mk2f's) were vacuum braked only from new.
  17. Yeah I found out the hard way after grafting a window from a Lima mk2d into a mk2b and then thinking....actually that doesn't look right! I had just assumed they were the same dimensions as the later air con ones. Nope!
  18. How cheap is cheap? ESU make a function only decoder for €20 or so: http://www.esu.eu/en/products/lokpilot/lokpilot-5-fx/
  19. Irish Rail also bought a handful of ex BR 2c's in the late 80's. That BR blue and grey in Dublin picture was of a 2e or 2f. Definitely one of the air con ones anyway.
  20. The tooling looks like it is planned or already exists as a 2c is part of one of the NIR packs. The roevac vents are clearly visible on the roof etc.: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/mark-2-coaches/products/nir-mk2b-pack-corporate-intercity-1
  21. Thanks Pat. I did. It's just a scrap coach for testing paint schemes on though. Having said that I do intend on removing these on the "production run" and replacing with wire grab handles and cast door handles. They cost very little but add a lot I feel so worth the effort. I will also make a greater effort to get the finished stripes to sit down into the door shuts. I didn't even give this test job a coat of gloss varnish before applying this stripe. I just wanted to know would it roughly work, and it does. I can refine my techniques now. I'm grateful for the suggestions pushing me towards a transfer rather than painting up each colour. There is significantly less work this way and I think the end result is going to be much better too. The black ink cartridge needs an alignment run on it however. I've ordered Railtec transfers for the remaining lettering.
  22. First (test) attempt at DIY transfers on a scrap coach. I think it's the way to go for this particular job:
