  1. I haven’t got one of those yet, as they were a little after the original era I was going to model. However I since blurred the lines a bit and I keep eyeing up that Bachmann Belgian livery one and rubbing my thighs in a Vic Reeves stylee! If they’re still available come payday, I may just avail myself of one. I did think about the Hornby ones, but the windscreens don’t look quite right.
  2. I'm a little short of wagons and coaches, but.... The pics are taken with a Fuji FInepix S5800 digital camera, aperture priority mode, smallest aperture (F13.6) for depth of field, long exposure on a tripod. I have used the best white balance setting in the later pics to give the impression of sunshine. It's lit by a 100W equivalent LED bulb in the ceiling fixture. The pictures are cropped to remove the bedroom wall and the furniture that the layout lives in.
  3. Another new acquisition - the Class 33.
  4. Here’s mine, with a friend from the future.
  5. Yes, I had to check the 0O00 headcode alignment to be sure, though I understand the SLW one has the holes in the wheels too, which are missing on the Bachmann one. I’m after a Bachmann ‘Experiment’ when it comes out, having missed the SLW one. Bachmann have got the cab roof correct unlike their earlier ones which made me squint!
  6. OK, a multiple unit rather than a loco, but these monstrosities from New Zealand… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Dm_27_and_D_163_"Red_Robin"_Electric_Multiple_Unit_at_Ferrymead_Station_on_the_Ferrymead_Railway.jpg The sort of look that gives small children nightmares!
  7. That’s a great little model, I’m pleased with mine, too.
  8. A little light weekend weathering went on, with a small merging of eras thanks to modeller's licence.
  9. Thank you for the kind words. The layout is based in the 80s, so it covers the period from when just about every loco was banger blue up until the sectors emerged. Happy days they were! I’ve also been toying with the idea of some blue/green transition stock and have a few items from that era already.
  10. I think some of the gantries on the former Manchester South Junction and Altrincham Railway are of 1931 vintage and are still in use, albeit having been re-energised twice. To 25kV then 750V DC.
  11. Just has a mail from Hattons, the 33s are imminent, so have ordered the weathered blue one to plug the last main gap in my fleet.
  12. New arrivals on shed. 47704 is a resprayed Vitrains model, and will remain ex-works (just as I remember seeing them at Crewe). The 20 and a Railfreight liveried counterpart will be worked on next. I’m still undecided on whether the 50 needs a windscreen-and-nose-job or not as it captures the look well as it is.
  13. A standard large logo 50 with pearl grey roof, due to the difficulties getting one at the moment.
  14. I’ve stuck my name down for a 56008
  15. A Romanian or early Donny example, banger blue or 036 is tickling my fancy.
  16. With the rail blue solebars in this case though I'll add them if need be. Think they were provincial blue at one point as well.
  17. They’ll be running alongside my Bachy ones. One thing I’ve noticed with the latest ones is the front windscreens are the right shape, a first for any manufacturer. They lack the raised grommets, or the subtle recess of the prototype, which have both been reproduced exquisitely by Accurascale. Shall we just say I am halting expansion of the fleet until the Accurascale one comes out. Teeside Steelmaster would be a good one to have from a later run (hint hint)
