  1. Does anyone know if there any plans of a 37 in this livery for the future and if so which version(s) are likely.
  2. It's more to make sure I know which '37 I'm moving as I have several running at the same time on my mainline and in and out of my fiddle yard, as I have, on more than one occasion collided into my rolling stock causing derailment's when I thought I was moving one loco but wasn't, I really have to re number the loco's but having recently inherited over 60 various diesel and steam loco's that need servicing, cleaning, repairing etc. it's a ongoing process

  3. I would like to fit Head and Tail lights both ends. I could use a pre-made set, but working out exactly where to drill holes in the body is beyond my expertise, this way, if the drill holes are not exactly perfectly placed it would have little overall effect.

  4. Great, thanks both of you, I had thought of using bi-colour LED's but it would look weird, so I intend to use single colour LED's with a Laisdcc 1K Ohm 1/8 SMD resistor board with it. I have tried using a pre-made light board (not by Swiftstick I might add) but after a few minutes faffing around trying to make it fit realised that the board was too deep and I would have to modify the chassis to make it fit, then the wires broke on both light boards so binned that idea, also trying to work out where to drill holes not knowing where the board was inside the body is beyond my expertise. But I will contact Swiftstick and see if he has a solution to that, as I have several old Class 37's I would like to modify.

That's certainly one approach. But, what is it of the single LEDs that are going to use on what of both ends?

Anyhow, let us know how you get on!

White on the nose's and red on the tail's - very useful way of telling which end of an elephant is facing you.

  6. Hi I'm still new at this. so please bare with me, I would like some advice. I intend to fit Directional lighting (no cab lights) to a class 37 loco, something I've never tried before, I think I have the wiring sorted to/from the decoder, (I'm using DCC) My question is do I need to fit a resistor to each LED or can I use one resistor for each set of lights (making four resistors in total) or does anyone know a different or better way of doing this, I am not electrically minded so anything I need would have to be bought and simple to install/solder. I know of a company called Illuminated Models who make these type of things, but having spoken to a friend of mine who bought one, he suggested fitting my own LED's as their version sits too low and to make fit I would have to cut a large section out of the chassis to make room, also they do not have a template I could use to mark out where to drill, making that process a bit hit and miss. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  7. Hi All I am my wits end with this model and I'll explain why. Let me first say that I have cleaned the wheels/Pickup's, and track several times now, and completed a service. and its fitted with a Hornby decoder R8249 So, the problem, when powering up, the loco wont move for about 5-10 seconds and I have to "push start" it, then it will stutter round my layout for around a minute and then is fine most of the time, until I stop, reverse is worse, basically not a good idea, does the same but for far longer period and often doesn't move but hums, then suddenly takes off like a rocket. I've checked all my connections with a multi meter (I use a harness) again, several times, fitted three different decoders (Hornby R8249 (not the one currently fitted) a Laisdcc Kung Fu series and Zimo MX600R), and encounter the same problem, but weirdly, when not on the track, and power is applied direct to the wheels it runs like it should with all three. I've run all my other loco's on my layout and all run without a problem just this one. Is this a case of lost cause, find a new motor, or does someone perhaps know a cure. Your thoughts would be appreciated on this. Thanks
  8. I humbly apologise for my ignorance, and if I sounded crass and uninformed, it was not intentional. The Accurascale models do indeed look phenomenal pieces, and as several of you have pointed out there is a manufacturer who cares about such things as quality and their customer base. I could genuinely like Accurascale, and am avidly keeping an eye out for (hopefully) more early steam locomotives that I will probably purchase, if they live up to expectations, they might even convert me to Diesel/Electric. I look forward to any reviews/comments members will have when they are released later this year. I won't pre order as I am sure some here have, simply because members here have far years more experience than myself about detailing, quality etc. and will await their verdict before considering purchasing one.
  9. Thanks DavidM, lots of useful information on that thread, but its mainly PR blurb. I'm not really interested in what Accurascale say (unless it's to say they introducing more steam to their product line), their view, as with most manufacturing companies are, are always a little skewed towards their products. Admittedly their rolling stock does look amazing, but way too modern for my layout, unless I decide to rebuild my it, which is unlikely to be anytime soon. So let me rephrase this. Does anyone own an Accurascale Loco, doesn't matter what type, I'm looking for any information as to the quality, detailing, reliability, pulling /traction power are they worth the price, would you consider buying another one etc. What you, as an owner, think of the model you have.
  10. Hi All I recently came across a website for Accurascale, I've never heard of them. They seem to have a varied selection of rolling stock and some Loco's (mainly Class 37's which cover all the variants) They are surprisingly well detailed models, if a little pricey for my taste. Has anyone heard of them, are they worth perhaps in investing in buying ? Any information would be appreciated.
  11. I use a couple of suppliers that might well have what your looking I have bought some 2 aspect ground signals that look a treat on my layout. https://www.layouts4u.net/ https://www.dccconcepts.com/product-category/lamps-lighting-and-signals/ https://www.dcpexpress.com/traintech-c-52.html
  12. I use SCARM it's a pretty basic program but for planning a layout I find it very useful, there is a basic free version, the Licenced version is about £25, and there are addons including a 3D train you can drive around you newly built track so you can see how your loco will perform. You should check it out, might be useful.
