  1. Internet search throws up three separate releases of a streamlined Duchess of Hamilton: R2689 R3101 R3339 It would appear the latter 2 were main range releases, with the former an NRM special.
  2. My dad was on the Breakdown Train from Springs Branch, I think they went to both accidents at Dinting, MGR train and also ammonia tanks? Ian
  3. Cecil Kimber of MG was killed in this accident: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cecil_Kimber
  4. Just don't be posting any timings, the LMR Running Dept. will be in hot water...
  5. I remember reading this. IIRC I'm sure the article was about a retiring LMR Inspector, Harry Phillipson?, and the subject had turned to steam locos and they'd taken 46245 over to Kings Cross for the trip. He allegedly put his cap on the speedo clock as it continued to rack up greater and greater speed.
  6. Surely that's, '...what goes aroundel comes aroundel...?'
  7. A loco perfectly positioned, timewise, to sit with the LMS Twins. Lovely.
  8. Layout's looking well there, mate. Regards Ian
  9. bing-bong, 'Can the in-store janitor make his way to aisle 87 please, aisle 87. Thank you.'
  10. Last time I was at the NRM 5000 was highly polished and sitting at the head of the Royal Train selection - probably more a museum livery than a workaday Black 5. But I've ordered one.
  11. I started at Wigan Mining & Technical College in 1985 (then named Wigan College of Technology), on a carpentry & joinery YTS before securing my apprenticeship. One of our lecturers had served his time in the Joiners Shop at Vulcan Foundry. Ian
  12. And let's not forget this great source (loads of class 24 photos generally across the site): http://www.2d53.co.uk/holyhead/Shed.htm
  13. Hi Peter, Quick search turned up this photo of the shed in 1935 (scroll down): http://www.6g.nwrail.org.uk/mainline.htm So it wasn't a LNWR northlight roof. I've a book on LMS / LMR loco sheds which lists out some of the depot modernisation programmes - which included re-roofing with the standard LMS concrete pattern roof which I think were primarily cast at the concrete works over at Newton Heath. I'll look up when, if listed, Holyhead was improved. There also some great photos of concrete components for pits and roofing concrete segments for either Leicester or Upperby roundhouse. Cheers. Ian
  14. Weren't the Big Lizzies fitted with deflectors progressively following the introduction of the double chimney? Sure I've read there was an issue of drifting smoke once in this guise which was obscuring the driver's view of signalling. Also read that Stanier, when made CME of the LMS, had a loco fitted with lead fingers to check clearances on many routes as they'd not been checked for years.
  15. Great video footage, just a pity Ms. Agutter wasn't on hand to wriggle out of her red petticoat.* *I quite often muse to myself at various stages of the week.
  16. And the link takes you to a great image: http://www.class47.co.uk/c47_zoom_v3.php?img=0998050143200
  17. You're aware of this model, Hattons Ltd. Editon? http://www.hattons.co.uk/94064/DJ_Models_Dave_Jones_J9405_Austerity_0_6_0ST_Hurricane_in_NCB_Bickershaw_Colliery_lined_green_lightly_weat/StockDetail.aspx
  18. I'm sure 'LMS Pacifics' by J.W.P. Rowledge has this info too, I'll see if I can dig it out tomorrow. Ian
  19. Ditto. I settled the first invoice I received and its numbered in the single figures of the 200. However, due to no confirmation of this initial order, I did process a second 'expression' and again received no confirmation. I'm made up with the loco and have bought 3 x MGR wagons, a set of 3 x NCB internal user wagons and the Ashington NCB brake to run on a plank. Hope the balance do sell, I'd not want the first RMWeb venture into r-t-r to be the last. Ian
  20. Mods, please move this to the Boxfile layout section!!!
  21. Lovely, invoice received and settled. Looking forward to the yellow peril arriving!!
  22. S & J Models has 20 189 for sale. http://www.sandjmodelrailways.co.uk/90270/info.php?p=3&pno=2 I've no link with them, but they've always got plenty of stock listed.
  23. How about 37 424 / 37 558 'Avro Vulcan XH558'...?
