  1. Great few days on WCML, heard Duchess of Sutherland going north on Sat with The Cumbrian Mountain Express, saw Leander about to leave Carnforth in the afternoon and just heard Scots Guardsman make what sounded like start from Euxton Balshaw Lane.

Just like the old days! Certainly a great stud of ex-LMS power on the mainline just now.

The Scot is off up to Blaenau Ffestiniog gogogoch, the first of its type up theer. If it gets there....Maybe something relatively modern is pushing it?

  4. Hi Dave, I ordered at the time of original notice that these had been commissioned, and given the previous thread comments I checked my emails. Not having received a confirmation email, I ordered again but still not received any email of confirmation. I know you're a busy man, but if you could check your end for me to see if you do indeed have an order from me. Thanks. Ian
  5. Here you go, but not too sure on distance from Heywood town centre to ELR station. Ian http://www.tfgm.com/journey_planning/RouteMaps/163.pdf
  6. Would there be an issue with braking distances? It's fine powering up, but wouldn't additional brake force be needed?
  7. Almost? You're a tough cookie to break down...!
  8. Wondered where you were going with a link to Derby Sulzers - thought you'd found a nose seam no one else had picked up...
  9. There is footage on YouTube of DP1 hauling the great & the good to Vulcan Halt for this event.

  11. Pic from 1935 showing Cheetham Hill carriage shed (immediately above the Bury line viaduct) with a roof and also Red Bank with a roof ( immediately above the viaduct footbridge): http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/image/epw048636
  12. A few links to whet the appetite: http://railwayherald.com/imagingcentre/view/156306/PL https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8311/8062932679_f1769245c5_b.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7271/7783109836_646663547c.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3821/10983577946_25f08f8672.jpg The last image with the DMU's stabled was, I think, Cheetham Hill sidings - as noted in an above post. I've seen photos of this with a covered shed in green DMU days. And I've read elsewhere that one of the now in preservation jinty boilers was a stationary train heat boiler here. On the whole, a fascinating area.
  13. Liking the look of this, Andy. Just off topic in respect of your grandfather, my granddad worked on HMS Ark Royal as a riveter's mate in Cammell Laird, Birkenhead where she was built (my dad skipped school in Everton, to watch the launch). This is a great image, you'll note she was under-coated in white for her launch ( this obviously magnifes her size considerably): http://www.ntprints.com/image/346044/the-birth-of-the-ark-royal
  14. A touch pricey: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-32-111Z-BR-Class-08-0-6-0DS-Diesel-Shunter-09721-Starlet-Limited-Ed/161726120458?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140328180637%26meid%3Df97ab8f3cd5e4c79af3582db73cd64f5%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D331567645858
  15. Scott you're aware of the Modelzone Ltd. Editon of the 08, hopefully? Would avoid the re spray, if you can get hold of one? Cheers. Ian
  16. Bill, Ples see link - http://narrowplanet.co.uk Cheers. Ian
  17. Bill, You could try Narrow Planet for the nameplates - made to order etches to suit your needs. The Shunter looks a great transformation. Ian

  20. The photos appear to show oval buffers to the snowplows, that'd indicate they were adapted class 40 bogies and not class 45/46. Ian

Think you need a 4-function decoder as the cab lights are independent of each other. Ian
