At least the seller started the bidding at 99p - it's the "bargain hunters" who've pushed it that high.....

£12 is the correct price - but for a pack of 3: http://www.ehattons.com/32242/Hornby_R6482_Open_Wagons_in_T_Threadgold_blue_D_R_Llewellyn_red_and_LMS_Loco_Coal_grey_liveri/StockDetail.aspx But if they're "brand new" why aren't they in a box?
  3. You can get the Silver Mini+ with an NEM 6-pin plug (same price as the version with wires) and then use a 6-pin to 8-pin converter if you don't want to solder on a plug yourself, eg http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DCC-DECODER-CABLE-HARNESS-WITH-6-PIN-651-SOCKET-TO-8-PIN-652-PLUG-PART-NO-DCC17-/330726994847?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4d00dd739f The other item missing from the range is a Standard21+ for those situations where you don't need the extra functionality.

No it isn't - it's the unique HO version! As are many of his other models. And the QA label describes it as R2122 class 29. Obviously boxes have been mixed up somewhere. Real collectors won't like that .....
  5. You need to set CV54/55 to the Bachmann-recommended settings - http://www.Bachmann.co.uk/pdfs/decoder_settings.pdf These are not the default and will have to be re-entered if the decoder is reset. Alternatively use a better quality decoder such as a Lenz Standard+.

Seems these things do sell though - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JEP-O-Gauge-Empty-Box-for-AP5-Train-Set-/251204769008?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3a7cf894f0&nma=true&si=%2F4e1WtMgZtW6pZq8sF4hWOFhI%2FE%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  7. According to Hatton's website it will be in stock "on or after Monday June 3rd".

    Hornby 2 BIL

You're right! I had assumed that, like all other recent EMUs, it would have lighting but it appears not....

    Hornby 2 BIL

Even on an unpowered 2-BIL I assume you'd still want the internal lighting and illuminated headcodes. So you'd still need pickups and a decoder (for DCC), although that could be a cheaper lighting decoder. I'd certainly buy one or two if they were produced.

They really are the same green! Look at the illustrations in Hornby's own announcement: One difference I've noticed is there's no "I" on the doors to identify first-class on the NRM version. I've pre-ordered one of each so when I get them I'll be able to give a definitive response!

    Hornby 2 BIL

They both look the same to me. Two photographs taken at different times when the lighting was not identical. The earlier green was much lighter and could be clearly distinguished. Besides, both motor coaches have the later BR coach emblem: if one of the units was in the earlier green it would surely have the earlier lion-and-wheel item as well?
  12. The issue with the slips is that the blades do not move as far back-and-forth on them compared with standard points. This then causes a problem with the Seep because it has to be aligned very precisely to get the switch to make proper contact in each direction. I did have a problem with them and sometimes the switch was only halfway across which caused a DCC short as it was touching both contacts. I have since switched to Tortoises which work absolutely fine.

That Hornby model looks a bit big for OO gauge or are my eyes deceiving me? And yet another seller who doesn't realize that writing a description in block capitals with little or no puntucation is a real turn-off
  14. RFS

    EBay madness

And equivalent to O gauge in size? Looks distinctly HO to me ....
  15. Not so, I'm afraid. The 4TC unit was created from converted steam-hauled MK1 stock, whereas the 4VEP was new-build, high-density 3+2 seating with doors on every compartment - very different bodyshell to the MK1s. A "4SUB with corridors" as one SR railwayman succinctly described it!

Fancy buying a complete, exhibition model railway? A snip at £16,000 and it comes with its own transit van! http://www.ebay.co.u...726092630547021 Looks a bit toylike to my eyes though, especially for that type of money.... And it has a hidden special offer: "I HAVE DECIDED A VERY VERY SPECIAL ITEM WILL BE ADDED TO LAYOUT WORTH QUITE A LOT OF MONEY BUT WILL ONLY BE KNOWN TO THE BUYER"
  17. This is documented here on the Bachmann web-site - http://www.Bachmann.co.uk/pdfs/decoder_settings.pdf

For a starting price of £9k wouldn't you expect a proper inventory, not to mention photos taken with the lights on? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-lima-bachman-Heljan-vitrains-triang-180-plus-locomotives-/160765223646?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item256e5aa2de

The same seller has another item described as "hard to find" - a length of "vintage" Peco O gauge track! Hard to find? He's got more than 10 available .... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-PECO-STREAMLINE-0-1-X-FLEXIBLE-STRAIGHT-TRACK-/260947351191?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3cc1ac9697

Not railway-related but surely this takes the biscuit! An undated 20p coin - on tails side only! It has the date just on the heads side - as they all do. But some mug has been fooled and has already bid for it. You have to laugh .... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Undated-20p-Coin-Tails-Side-/280839981096?pt=UK_Coins_BritishDecimal_RL&hash=item41635e0828

And guess what - that £500 bid has been retracted .... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330692968009?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

And he's only asking 99p. But this guy is asking £2.99 + £1.95 postage and yet some idiot has bid for it. For the same price,he could have got one with a Railway Modeller attached together with some change. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Metcalfe-signal-box-OO-gauge-freebie-January-2012-Railway-Modeller-/180828979419?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2a1a3f40db
  23. There's extensive archive of these sets working with H and M7 tanks here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVgUCDTKRLs&list=UUahuJlde02RxvwO82gbrXtw&index=87&feature=plpp_video . I also believe these sets were also later used with BR Standard 4MT tanks although not in push-pull mode, presumably after withdrawals of M7 and H tanks.

Not too hard to find - £100 cheaper here, for example: http://www.rrrmodels.co.uk/Hornby-r2204-35020-bibby-line-p-1301.html

There's been a revision of the BIN price so it's possible 6 were sold at the "correct" price before it was "amended".
