  1. I'm assuming drax is aware of the retail cost of comparative wagons, Personally I dont think they care if they sell any or not to modellers, this is just a way they might shift a few. The only way I can see this working is with my favourite half station or half yard with just one or two on scene to suggest the presence of a longer train
  2. Ŵell it's not my era......but I hope they send one to green peace.......
  3. Thanks for the info. I'm sorry I'm turning this into an armoured vehicle thread....I was reading about how they used to spray these. Apparently they turned up green , then at depot level they sprayed the black using all sorts of mixers. Anyway, we're not far off, so last photo before they go to the depot ( I promise) And for those of you interested in trains , this decided to shed its nameplate, so I've been reattaching it. Of course this loco has nothing to do with Appleton yard....more to do with previous and future planned planks
  4. Appears to be so, Pete, it's adhered in its usual fashion. Just need some stronger glue now....
  5. Ok, so I learnt a few things - I need araldite to build these , not uhu, as some of the tracks and exhausts fell off when I was cleaning them up Tried some green over the primer. It's not the right color ! Need humbrol 86 the Internet says Repainted some Bachmann chaps in green as civilian Maintainers for the depot. Will need to change high viz to yellow Finally, bodged up a speed camera from a station monitor stem and line side speed restriction battery box ! Also roughed up a vw golf to ad to the layout and added some more flora to the back scene photos. That's it for today and possibly the week
  6. Thanks Neil. The cvrts are drying in their primer , so we'll see what they look like later
  7. Hi, Well I'm still messing with the CVRTs. Taking a lot of filler to get right. They are more or less complete ( minus GPMGs for transport )so I hope to prime them with halfords finest in the next couple of days, I've brought another 2 OCAs, strange thing is at least one of them I sold to the chap who has now switched to O gauge, ( thanks Craig ). That'll make 5 OCAs for transporting landrovers, trailers, snow cats and that sort of thing. Originally I had steel coil in them - which I can still use under ' enterprise ' I thought I'd dig them out and rough them up. Removed BR logos from one side and did a standard frame dirt on the bottom and wipe on / off on the sides. I can't really call it weathering compared with some of the masterpieces on here ( you know who you are Makin ) , but a generic dirtying I believe is better than nothing . I may try and go for the pink look on one of these. Ta ta
  8. That's great Ian, I like it and I know nothing about these boxy plucky little locos. I sent you a PM about coming to see you at some point , let me know when your about
  9. Yeah, they do. They may be consigned to the depot at the back rather than in the trains
  10. Funny you should say that Bob, I've just been looking at doing the part H driving licence - I really want to drive one of these ! However practicality is I can't afford to buy one on my own, I was wondering if there are group shares in this sort of thing ? The models are fairly coarse scale as I thought they would be. The FV 432 consists of but five parts in total . As they are resin they need a lot of work with a file to get the flash off, and possibly a little filler as well I think. The detail is OK from 12 inches but wouldn't stand up to close scrutiny especially around the lights/ smoke grenade launchers. I'm still cleaning them up, this is as far as I got this morning ...
  11. Well, thought finally turn back to the trains.its been a busy time at work I've been away 29/12 till today.....so finally,,,, play time for a few days. Santa did deliver...despite my wife ordering the wrong war flats, I did get some s and s models kits. Namely 2 scimitar and 2 FV432 kits I'm quite looking forward to building these resin and metal jobbies.
  12. Nice additions. It's the little features that really set a time and place
  13. Looking forward to the supersize version
  14. Hmmm, Yeah, I love Bachmann to bits, but I won't be happy if they put a big motor where you can see it
  15. I had one of the limby version. It was a dog - very basic and ran terribly on dcc. Save your cash
  16. Seems about right I guess, as it's a driven unit about the same size as a loco ! But with more detail. I don't want to go off at a Br blue tangent again just yet. But with this and my Hornby 31s I've finally got the ingredients of an 80s WR branch.........hmmmm,we'll see.....
  17. That looks great, Really captures the essence of the area. I was up there in the snow briefly in november and this just captures the restricted and busy nature of that spot well
  18. Wow ,great work ! It never ceases to maze me the lengths some go to get their models spot on !
  19. Cool, I use these cans but they are notoriously temperamental. I invested in ten spare nozzles for a fiver, but the paint itself can go AWOL for no reason.
  20. Browsing the web as I do, stuck in hotels, I came across railpixtc.co.uk, Tony callaghans very nice site with some excellent BR blue stuff as well as later. Although not at Aylesbury , this shows a portion of the Acton - chinnor about to go that way once shunting has finished. The variety of wagons is great Secondly, the Acton - chinnor freight itself . Rather a prestigious loco for use on this ! These are included with Tony's permission and he retains all rights and copyright
  21. Crikey, the livery errors aren't getting better. Is it possible to turn a container ship round and send it back to China with a note " must try harder "
  22. If this goes well, I foresee a new revenue stream......" Temaraires ED fixers inc." !
