  1. Thannks Darryl, I meant to type OCT! Any idea what the writing between the N & E says on the NBR van? Those NER OCTs look easy to scratchbuild........ Cheers Tony
  2. Found another one. Actually at Nottingham NR carriage sidings. This very short LMS Van could just be a LT&SR Hearse Van (as produced by Wills many years ago) Tony
  3. And the last, a pair of open CCTs but with rather strange numbering MK 28. Never seen this before....... Cheers Tony
  4. Soory I could not manage to add multiple images with caption sin between, here is the second: Could this be a rare PO van and what ends in xxxT(?)TES apart from Cigarettes?
  5. Hi, Found a number of interesting items in the background of negs: Firstly is this a NER bogie CCT or from another railway? If it is NER then the lettering is on a n unusual position
  6. Another corner of a neg wagon. Is number 106753 another 'new' one to be added to the list of D299? Willesden Jcn @1928...... Cheers Tony
  7. Another 'edge of neg' gem. I have never seen branding like this before, and why on earth would it be at Nott Vic? Lots of these had their duckets removed in the grouping period, perhaps this only started in the 1930s? Tony
  8. Hi, Have a look at this - it might help https://www.rail-online.co.uk/p847202731/h16ec4774#h16ec4774 Tony
  9. In Bill Hudsons' 'Through Limestone Hill's there is a lovely photo of a complete train of sleeper wagons heading for Manchester. Interestingly it is in LMS days and every one is the hinged side variety as opposed to the solid type, making me wonder if the latter were converted to drop side, perhaps in early LMS days? Tony
  10. Hi, Found this on the edge of a negative of Snow Hill in the 1960s. I think it can only be a GWR Pyphon. I wondered how many of these were 'converted' for C&W use and were they for parts transfer from Swindon to wagon works 'Up Country'? Did they work just on the Western Region or throughout the country? Finally what does the W after C&W and before the Sw(indon) mean? Cheers Tony
  11. They were only 9 1/2" x 3 1/2" - there is a pic here: https://www.gwra.co.uk/auctions/br-diesel-class-50-leasing-plate-this-locomotive-i-2019nov-0365.html Tony
  12. I thought Brian at Shawplan as part of their 'Etreme Etchings' range did one - I supplied a pic to him years ago! Tony
  13. Thanks Gentlemen, Cafeteria car W9660W it is then, there is no more neg of the Western -it is only just in the image, the main purpose of which was a Large Prairie. Cheers Tony
  14. Hi, This is part of an ECS train and I assumed it was a catering vehicle but there is no sign of wording on the side. Sorry it is so dark -poor neg. Cheers Tony
  15. For you 'number collectors' here is another one - a standard MR cattle van with plenty of lime at Gloucester around 1910. it just about shows the cross timbers supporting the longitudinal roof planks - a feature I have not spotted before. Tony
  16. Thanks. Could these 1961 memories could possibly have been of ex LNWR vehicles of the 'Combination Truck' variety with louvered sides, a high hipped roof and end doors? Tony
  17. Does anyone know when these Fish vans were converted for stores use? Would it be as early as 1958 by any chance? (I know someone who needs stores vans on his layout..........) Tony
  18. I saw it in a sad state at the Gwili Railway and was told it was soon to be scrapped, HOWEVER I believe I saw it at Buckfastleigh under repair a couple of years later. Can anyone confirm this? Tony
  19. I think your 'Brake Van' in the photo is actually a lone ballst hopper. Tony
  20. Mike, I think it would be too heavy if it was a fuel wagon. Tony
  21. I was looking at allocations in Yeadon and had not realised there were so many allocated to March/Peterborough from about 1926. They went back home after two or three years, no doubt replaced by surplus RODs bought for pennies from the Government. I wonder if they worked all the way to Temple Mills from Whitemoor on coal trains, or just in a northerly direction? Tony
  22. Distant view on the Rail-Online site https://www.rail-online.co.uk/p958043879/h3e8a85ee#h3e8a85ee Tony p.s. I think it still exists, being a PW dept maintenance facility
  23. I cannot recall if I have added this pic of a D299 to the thread before. SECR Longhedge shed 1920 on loco coal duties and 'pooled' by then. Tony
  24. Craig, You will be missing the cast boiler 'bottom' as this is not on the chassis kit. Tony
