Brilliant Chris I did win the eBay auction on issue 114 and have as of yesterday. I would gladly take you up on your offer time is not an issue as it will take me a fair time to make it! I can reimburse any expenses Cheers.
Leave it with me and I'll try and scan them this week. I'll PM when they're done.
Coming from Sandy, Shannon (Jane) has an appeal to me as well so I'm interested to revisit the articles.

I doubt you’ll use it everyday,
Speak for yourself.

Does it count that our 3 chickens are wandering around the garden ?
Edit to add that a few weeks a go we found them hiding, it seems a Sparrowhawk had landed in their run with a pigeon and proceeded to strip it, they probably thought they were next.

Hijacking this thread a bit, but just had a light bulb moment. We have a new kitchen, the old kitchen has been extended and will be my modelling room. We have a spare cooker hood, would it be any good for the extractor for a spray booth? I could easily make a box for it to fit on to, and at worst fit a pipe to take the solvent out of the window
This has come up a few times John, you have to be careful if it's an open frame motor as the sparks from the brushes could make the spray 'flash over'.
Might help if you're going for the 'burnt smoke box' look.

I have an advance ticket. Might as well use it.
Chris
How far in advance. . .Friday?

Do you think if I send my stuff over they'd line it for me ?
(Hi Jason, hope you don't mind me copying the photo in here, if you're ever on Vancouver Island, I know this pub...).
cheers,
Jason
And believe it or not, I have photographic evidence of JCL buying a pint. . .

I should have looked at RMweb before speaking to him just now.
I bet he'll be after a copy if he's not already got it.

Either my home station of Sandy in the 60's/70's.
Or Kings Cross with 8 Deltics on the stops.......ticking over...then full throttle.

That's because it's a free country!
Mike.
Not quite, you ought to be with an American buying Cuban cigars on a trip to the Dominian Republic, I've never seen anyone so terrified of being caught buying something.
A couple of days later he told me he couldn't be seen with them so threw them in the bin, not just one bin but several located about the ship so he could avoid being traced ! He said if it got back to where he lived that he'd given the Cubans US dollars his neighbours wouldn't speak to him and his company would likely take his pension away.
I've no idea whether they would or not, but it says something that a citizen of the supposed "biggest free country in the world" would feel and act this way.
As for Ikea stuff, having put a lot together for people......it's crap.

I came across an unidentified photo online of what looks to be an identical bike, with possibly a French number plate and despatch rider. So they had them too...
Were they left hand drive/ride ?
-
seeing the 27s in there I guess would be 1964 time,
where exactly was the stabling point after they ceased using the former shed building?
In the 70's the stabling was opposite on the other side of the main line, there was a small shed and a couple of sidings, the area was where the sidings & buffers for the 12 cars are now.
Oi you!!!!! Goldington is still nice, cos me mum lives there.
Goldington's ok, but would you want her living in Queens Park. . . .

It is a wonder that the site hasn't been cleared and used for housing, but then again it's not in one of the nicer areas of Bedford (not that there are many to choose from)

A quick scan of the MRJ index shows you need 115 to 123, I've got them all and can scan but it will take time (work etc)

In which plane does it have movement? One where a frame would alleviate that?
You would ideally need to brace it at 300mmm intervals to stop sag.
As a rough constructional board it is ideal but for our purposes there are too many negatives. I work with the material most days and I'm a fan of it, but as a baseboard it really isn't suitable.

OSB seems much better than chipboard and MDF - the question is - is it better than plywood? And is the foam useful, or going to cause more problems than it's worth?
Interested in thoughts and feedback.
Thanks
The foam board is not a material I've not used or seen here, but in answer to your question is OSB better than ply. . . . .No...... Definitely not.
We use it for structural bracing and shuttering, it has too much movement and no strength.

Alex, if you're serious, probably best to contact one of the moderators by PM, rather than on open forum.
You could just add whoever pi$$ed you off to your own personal "people you wouldn't want to be stuck in a lift with" list and carry on...
My own personal "stuck in a lift" list is now so big, there wouldn't be room for me and I'd have to take the stairs anyway...
I'm still here......and not going away....

I might have these but it'll take time to find them.
I do wish she was called by her 'proper' name though. She's 'Shannon' from the Sandy & Potton Tramway (1850)

I do not have your evidence that double slips were used more than single slips or in what context.
The double slip seems to have been something of a 'rare beast' on steam routes.
I don't know about other locations but IIRC at Sandy on the GN 1911 plan, there are 7 Double slips as well as 2 (?) single slips, they are not confined to the yards either.
It was an unusually busy location on the GN main line.

Was that the General or Sectional Appendix?

Ian
Luckily I had mine removed when I was 12

Genesis appendix i: And it came to pass that God then created the LMS Black 5 for Adam (N gauge, this is before his eyes started to go a bit), and all was NOT well in the garden of Eden.
Guy
For God had produced a false idol and Adam repented by falling at the Altar of the A4.
And from that point on Adam was attracted to graceful curves in skirts

The Flying Finn !
I like Terry's pace notes.....Maybe...

It's a bit mean making him work hard on his birthday. With all that flying round the world and climbing up and down chimneys, surely he'll be too exhausted to blow out the candles on his cake!
I'm always reminded of a Dave Allen joke.
3 Kids talking about Xmas day, the first a Catholic says that he goes down stairs and opens all his presents to find toys, lots & lots of toys.
The 2nd kid (Protestant) say he also goes downstairs to a mountain of presents and when he opens them he's also got toys, lots & lots of toys.
The 3rd kid (jewish) says on Xmas day he and his father go to the toy factory which is empty and thank the other children's God for Xmas.

You don't fancy doing the original laminated timber trusses instead of the iron ones.
You'd only have to swap all those rivets for 1000's of nails.
