  1. Many thanks...I'd like to see that, if you can scan and email it...I rarely buy Steam Railway these days
  2. Not quite in existance but the footprint of Sutton depot, part of the South Met system from Croydon to sutton is still there. Sadly the arches at the entrance have gone but I think the buildings are still there although clad in corrugated sheets now.
  3. I wonder if I did the search on the wrong name then...probably Fishergate rather than Fishersgate...as nothing came up. probably a senior moment!!!
  4. Managed to get some screen shots of Ghost Ship. I don't know where it was filmed except on the south coast so If anyone can identify the location let us know. I think the station name is a made up one. These do give a glimpse that in 1952 they were still in the transition between the big four and British Railways, signs in SOUTHERN as well as the sunshine lettering on the EMU's and British Railways posters. I've got more screen grabs if anyone wants to see them I can email them.
  5. Not sure if it's been mentioned already but there is Terror on a Train 1953, also known as Time Bomb depending on which country were are in, with Glenn Ford, Maurice Denholm, Victor Maddern and numerous other common faces of British films. Which featured BR 8F Ghost Ship 1952 with Dermot Walsh, Hugh Burden & Hazel Court and a short appearance of Ian Carmichael. Featuring several shots of 2 car Southern Electrics...still bearing Southern lettering I think. I have done some screen shots so will try to find and post them. On the Arthur Askey front, alongside The Ghost Train, there is also The Love Match when, if I remember, he pinches a Midland 4F 0-6-0 and it's train so he can get to a football match. I do remember there being several railway lines shown in Carry on Constable...don't remember any trains but several sound effects.
  6. Excellent...many thanks for that. Despite several searches none of that came up
  7. Watching an old video showing 6000 King George V running in the 1970's when it was owned by HP Bulmers, It reminded me that it was always running around with a rake of Pullman cars. These weren't painted in the usual Pullman colours if I remember so I'm looking for pictures and information about which Pullmans were in that rake, especially the colours. It's given me inspiration to get some old Hornby Pullmans and have a go at producing some of them. Tried a google search of images and that hasn't brought up very much to go by except for a couple of faded colour pictures.
  8. Still won't stop the youngsters from trying to get across...or those much more interested with their Ipod or Iphone. and it certainly wouldn't stop the Dukes of Hazzard!!!
  9. I was having a look at the Dean Goods tender chassis that Comet models do, although I'm unsure about dimensions and details has I've not seen one in the skin. From the picture on the Comet website it does appear to have all the brake gear but there are some other details missing. It would also mean I could sort out the misalignment of the leading axle on the tender which is not quite parallel to the other two. It doesn't seem to effect the running of the loco, but I haven't been able to try over any pointwork. They also do a water scoop but I don't know if it's a particular GWR pattern, it's just listed as a water scoop. I have to rely on ready made parts as I don't really have the facilities for metal working and not very experienced of scratch building apart from in plasticard and cardboard.
  10. I've just purchased the same kit as yourself of Ebay, fotunately....from your build details....I've bought mine already built. THe main body is fine except lacking some detail, so I'm buying some steam pipes, smokebox door handles and a few hand rails but the tender chassis is really quite bare, what kits are out there for doing all the brake detail and the water scoop?
