I have often wondered if something like that would be possible - will be interested to see how you get on. I think the photo looks pretty good as well btw.
Bother! I thought I had it worked out for a moment! Was there a standard sleeper spacing, so could I work it out from how many sleepers were in front of it? Thanks
I believe the signal box at Lampeter was built to standard GW7D. If this is the case, would that make it the same size as another GW7D box? or would the size depend on the location, and the 'GW7D-ness' be the style only? Thanks.
Were carriages assigned to particular routes in a similar way to locomotives being allocated to sheds? If so, is there somewhere that lists what was where when? Thanks.
Will there be a new thread for the new layout, and, if so, please could you put a link to it in here? I would like to keep up with developments, and don't always find it easy to find things! Thanks.
Thank you very much for that. You seem very knowledgeable about how the railway of the time work, which is why your scenarios are so convincing. Is that personal knowledge or copious reading? Thanks.
I have just read through all 42 pages to date, and have been very impressed by the operating and rationale behind the layout. My question is how would someone without the background and experience find out this stuff? I would like to operate a layout in a similar way, but don't have a clue where to start! Thanks.
I think that this is one of the stand-out things I have learned from your posts. I have always had the mindset that it has to be done right first time, but your willingness to re-visit and revise has been a revelation to me. Now all I have to do is change the habit of a lifetime!
Finally managed to get through all 446 pages (to date)! I am not sure whether to be inspired or to despair that I could never emulate the skill and artistry displayed here. Serious question - is it possible to learn how to do all these things or do you have to have an inate talent to excel at this level?
