  1. I really like this, such wonderful imaginative thinking. As others have aready said it is drawing me in also.
  2. This is the worse type of " we are all victims" excusism! If anybody can't cope with the realities of the road then they should get off it. What you are saying is that the woman in Shrewsbury, who was sitting in the middle of thebox junction on the level crossing, with a Chryslef Voyager full of kids wasn't really an idiot but a victim of an uncaring society. Infastructure such as level crossings are being changed because there is a realisation that nobody is willing to teach or punish the brain dead road users. Last year over three thousand people were killed on our roads. Are you really excusing the people who caused this?
  3. I wonder, if we were to put the barries across the tack instead of the roadway, would this make more people feel sorry for train drivers and passengers. Instead of the idiots, and they are idiots!, who cause these crashes. Notice I did not say accident, it is not an accident if it is caused by deliberate action.
  4. Ermm £83.00 each!! Makes me glad I don't wany any.
  5. I know this topic covers other stupidity than vehicle drivers, but the part vehicle drivers play in these occurences has far more to do with the falling driving standards at large. Forget railways for a moment and the next time you are out and about watch the road users. Not using indicators, using phones, parking anywhere and driving as if nobody else exists. Combine this with an inconvenient level crossing and what seems to be a complete lack of survival instincts and some poor driver on a train has to cope with the results! I think the first thing that should be done is make the train driver 100% safe. The train is in the correct place. As for showing the incidents , the more people that see them the better. It might just make someone think about DEATH and how to avoid it. To the devil with sensativity.
  6. Thank you Mr. B So if they are complient, what was all the fuss last year about not being able to buy any new locos that would fit the UK loading gauge?
  7. According to Todays Railways Colas have ordered 7 more Class 70 locos. I was under the impression that these locomotives did not meet new environmental laws. Have I got this wrong?
  8. WOW!! What wonderfull modelling
  9. Ok 'fess up! You left this out in the rain, right? Absolutely brilliant!
  10. Environmentally the reduction in coal use is a good thing. Not sure if UK doing this has a lot of point when Germany is closing nuclear plants and building coal powered power stations! From a railway perspective we can only hope the freight side of the industry can be used for taking other freight off the road. I know I am a hopeless optimist.
  11. What would we do without your great pics? One can only admire somebody who can take such wonderful pics while being relieved.........
  12. WOW!! The unfinished parts of your layout blow the doors off anything I could do. A real joy to watch. Paul
  13. Call me cynical but I can't help wondering how many people have made loads'a'money out of HS2 already without a spade hitting the ground! Will we one day speak of the "HS2 Bubble"?
  14. Hello Jim,from reading your posts I had a mental picture of you being a really nice bloke. This post proves I'm right! Morons like that are to be ignored. Paul
  15. Tony, this is great! I especially like the pic with the Garret. Will be watching this layout with pleasure. Paul L
  16. Just found this thread, what wonderfull modelling. This is the kind of work that is worth travelling to see. Superb!
  17. Recent history shows that whistleblowers are NOT supported by any of the bodies who spend all of their time telling people to speak up. Complain about the boss pressuring you to break the law and you are on your own. Complain about something politically sensative and you will quickly have your collar felt. I can only sympathise with drivers placed in this position but, on a positive note, a friend of mine works for a furniture delivery company who treat their drivers well. It is not all doom and gloom.
  18. It would be nice if it was only this hobby that attracted strange people, it's the gang in Westminster that terrify me!! As for Jim and this blog, it's great. I'm not young, well on the way to what Clegg "the b*****d" deems to be a drain on society, but I still am learning lots about the railway through BJ. Errmm, maybe I should have said Big Jim there...
  19. Very nicely done. The weathering on Blink Bonny is some of the best I have ever seen.
  20. What about a speed bump type lane seperator for several car lengths before the barrier, and some rising bollards as used in bus lanes. I've seen these trap one bonehead up in the air in Derby when he tried to follow a bus through!
  21. Wonderfull layout, great imagination and operational scope. I feel a rush of plagarisation coming on !!! More pics please. Paul L
  22. Oh, just had an idea ( that's rare ) instead of having barriers and big red flashing lights at level crossings , why not use really highpowered lasers? By the time the train gets there the remains would just be dust . Now is that thinking outside the box or what?
